  1. A Red classic -

FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC! THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THAT ON THE BOARD!

Sorry to post in this forum but I have an urgent question if anybody know about the post titled

    UNDER DETENTION?

Uproar as red-shirt leaders have an easy life

where pictures of red leaders seem to enjoy their new life in detention. Can somebody verify this?

    thanks

I think they might be real, but old, and the dates are faked. If you zoom in on the date in one of them, the year is totally screwed up. I'm not a red supporter by any means, but I did zoom in on the dates and some looked fake to me.

  2. No actually I said "I don't think he was acting or repeating anybody's words in my opinion".

What part of that is confusing to you?

None of it confuses me, you were quite clear. You said you don't think he was repeating anybody's words which suggests to me you think these are his own words and he wasn't just repeating something he had heard. So if he wasn't repeating something he heard from the stage / the redshirts then it must have been his own idea.

I think he heard it on stage and parroted it back. Like a few people here (ahem), he doesn't have an IQ high enough to put more than a few words together by himself. But that said, I think he took the message to heart and planned to be a good soldier in helping to carry it out.

  3. For the Thai Government to come out with this statement shows how stupid they really are, what actual evidence have they got to come out with this stupid statement....Are they trying deliberatly to involve farangs and ruin the countrys tourism prospects...Panitan Wattanayagorn what a plonker.

I don't know why you find this so incredulous. The individual said that "we" are going to loot Central World and burn it down. He apparently has been at previous red shirt peaceful protests (down in Pattaya during the ASEAN conference) and it is not much of a stretch to claim that he had foreknowledge of the incident. I am sure his arrest will be an effort to get him to name those individuals that he may have overheard discuss this premeditated arson. Watch the video. Some are claiming drugs, but could just be someone hyped up by the environment and frenzy of the other protestors. He really did not sound any more hyped than some of the red leaders that appeared on stage.

I also believe that most foreign countries would detain him as well based on the video and his amazing foresight as to what would happen. The way that Central World went up, I really doubt that it was a spontaneous act but I will let our fire experts and red arsonists comment on that claim.

The Thai government should think twice about their economy before messing with a this guy. Think of how many Pattaya bargirls will lose their income over this!

  4. back in March, the gov't stated any foreigners participating or mingling among the protestors may be apprehended. Most would take the warning and stop at that.

That picture from stickman dates way back. He must've been floating around there a long time. Doubtful he's got a pension. How do you suppose he made a living (in Pattaya)? dare I ask.

    Three possibilities:

    1. Undocumented English teacher (unlikely, he looks too stupid to fool anyone)

    2. Lives off of some Thai lady's income.

    3. Disability pension.

as in mental illness claims and welfare checks from his gov't? Quite a possible explanation! :)

    Yup.

  6. There is more than one low-life expat holed up in Pattaya. Foreigners should stay out of the situation, even if married to a Thai like I am, and hope the Thais can work through this problem. If Jeff participated with the quote that is above, he deserves to burn for it. We don't need that kind of farang in Thailand. Does anybody have a link to that youTube video?

  7. Hi excuse was that he was on steroids !

Why does this country attract so many "low-life" westerns, I have never meet so many idiot western people as I have in this country.

The only people that have tried to cheat me in this country - is people from my own hemisphere.

No wonder that some Thais think like they do of us "Farangs"

Yeah, and a good many are posting here tonight.

    1. A YouTube OR ANY OTHER video that can be substantiated by an expert to be real can be used as evidence. hel_l, they will probably just ask the kid that shot it for the original copy. I'm sure he will hand it over, because he thought the guy was an idiot, too. You can see the video here:

    http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/art...nd-loot-mall.do

And since the video, he said: “The war is over for the time being. But in two months time things will start up again. The attacks will begin.”

    2. Threatening terrorism (regardless of whether it is carried out) is a crime.

    1+2=Convicted

Shouldn't make much difference to Savage. Even if he doesn't get convicted, he's going to get deported and PNG'd. Then the poor bugger will be back in Britain--celibate again--because lets face it, that's almost certainly why he left. He couldn't find a woman in Soho with 1000 quid in his pocket. Might as well be in jail. LOL...

  8. whatever the man's implication, it suddenly dawned on someone in the Thaï govt that with Thaksin supposedly in London, it could be of use to have some leverage on the UK embassy.

Now we'll see how far Brit brotherhood extends, ie whether he'll get any support from his consulate ; I'm off to the UK press to see the reactions there , might be worth a read .

LOL. Yeah, the UK government will go out of it's way to get that POS back, I'm sure.

  9. I think the reds are basically peacefull, but Abhisit always changes his mind saying I will desolve parliament and organise elections, the putting all this on hold!

    How can anyone trust him?

    I would get violent too

Abhisit has to resign if he wants peace back in Thailand!

After taking 40 lives, people's emotion will be hard to be contained.

This is the results of playing hard ball. It will always bounce back.

No, this is the result of playing softball. Hopefully we will see some hardball now that there is no question that we are dealing with terrorists.

    LOL Peaceful my ***

This is what happens when you are too soft on terrorists.

  11. Still a lot of comments here about what not to do, but few ideas about what I should try.

The problem is that Thai Customs and their charges are so variable. From personal experience, the method that is least likely to attract customs attention is regular parcel post (tracked of course), the method that is most likely to attract customs attention is a courier (FedEx etc).

The above does not mean that regular post won't attract duty, or that FedEx will. Did those iPhones come by courier?

There's not actually a lot more that can be said.

Look at the first box here: http://www.asiatradehub.com/thailand/custom.asp

    It says:

Duty free entry available to :

    · Returning Thai resident who has lived abroad for more than 12 months (which my wife is)

    · Persons possessing a one year non-immigrant visa with a valid work permit at the time shipment is imported. (which I am)

But I don't know the exact rules about how to do this.

  12. I'm planning on having it sent via Fedex or DHL.

Contact FedEx or DHL to get an idea.

That said, using a courier is the way to absolutely guarantee that you get charged the maximum possible together with 'storage' and 'delivery'.

Still a lot of comments here about what not to do, but few ideas about what I should try. A friend shipped three iPhones over for import and marked the tag "3 iphones $350 each total $1050 and was not taxed at all, so clearly nothing is "absolutely guaranteed". Is it just a random system?

Greg: The incredibly complex process described earlier is beyond silly for one laptop and in any event I will be here for 90 days and will be carrying it out, not shipping it out. I KNOW that many people are not taxed on some electronic items that at shipped in. Does anyone have any concrete steps for how they are doing it?

One page mentioned an exemption for a Thai that has lived abroad being able to ship back items for free. Does anyone know how that works?

Would shipping in care of a Thai university help?

  13. here is a sample calculation, which can give you an idea,

the duty can be found by searching for code 84713020 which suggests that the import should be exempt of import duty. but you will get stung for VAT and a processing fee by the courier.

I would recommend searching this site for experiences with couriers in thailand. As around the world, some are plain thieves.

I'm planning on having it sent via Fedex or DHL.

  14. His US Employer probably has to setup the laptop with their software and email etc., hence buying it here in Thailand might not be possible.

There are a few options ( I work in this biz)

    - does your US Employer has an office here? If yes, we could arrange for temporary import in to the Kingdom

    - if it not to late tell you Employer to call USCIB Telephone: (866) 786-5625 and check the option for having a ATA Carnet issued

If all this fails, please PM me and we can work something out here on a local basis.

    Hope this will help.

Thanks, I sent you a PM with more details.

  15. Moto..... when, and its not so long ago... when Heroin was legal and since, Singapore was the number one port for the shipping of Heroin... Singapore made its money from Heroin... if not for that drug, there would be no Singapore.... Learn your history...

Red herring. Your statement is not a rebuttal, nor does it conflict with mine.

Singapore NOW has harsh laws and Singapore NOW has low drug use. You pointed out that when heroin was LEGAL, they had high drug use. Thank you for further establishing my point.
