  1. :) Would it be accurate to say that no streets are safe in Bangkok now?

Friend said the food delivery boy would not come and deliver food, how many farangs must be trapped in their condos/

The US has already offered evacuation for NGOS like USAID etc...I wouldl be getting outta there as soon as is humanly possible and wish all a safe return to their respective countries...What help are Embassies if they are closed, who is being protected and by whom.....mobs are reportedly now burning and looting, makes Rawanda look tame to an extent...

  2. All the experts on Politics, War, Economy, JOURNALISM, Weapons, Human Psychology, Religion are here on ThaiVisa... I don't how they running the world out dere..

Most of these experts haven't moved out of their home for few days now but they know all is there to know... they can set things right with one hit at spacebar...

:) Love it, right on dewd..... :D

:) Could not agree with you more, in fact, it is almost humourous were it not such a tragic topic...

  5. :D Friend emailed that there is a truck outside his apartment block with large LP gas cylinders waiting to be set on fire, will be an almighty and horrific explosion.....

    Location of your friend?

:) Chidlom but as it came second hand I am unable to be more specific in terms of soi etc...sorry but it is not rumour mongering rather an expression of deep concern, he is an aussie Doctor working for US NGO, said that they could lose everything if explosion, it is near a bridge, that would be a foot bridge I imagine in Chidlom...I know this report is vague but came via another friend....US have offered to evacuate USAID staff and other NGO's.....

  6. It's strange how the international media always seem to leave out the 'Thaksin link' when they report on this. It's such an important piece in the puzzle that to me it even feels suspicious that they don't mention this, almost like he's greased a few palms in the west (oh it does happen!). Instead they talk about the 'rural poor' versus the 'elite', and associate the word democracy with the very people who ruin the very idea by happily selling their vote fot the price of a couple of beers!

I think that the bbc/cnn and the rest of these 'non-biased' organisations should get to the real truth which is far more interesting than the story which they're currently reporting.

Why don't they ask the red shirts how much they're getting paid? Ask them why they think Thaksin is so great and what he could do for the country should he return. Ask them how they think that Thaksin, as a convicted criminal, could possibly plan to be taken seriously by the international community, should he manage to bully his way back into office.

Ask them why they are using women and children as a human shield.

Ask them why they risk their lives for a greedy evil billionaire?

Why can't the press get an interview with Thaksin? A few well placed questions will simply destroy him.

Why don't the international media do their job rather than appearing to be the heroes in the danger zone, reporting alongside the red-shirt 'freedom fighters'?

My point? It appears that Thaksin has more than just a few red-shirts in his back pocket!!!

:) Sensible and intelligent questions that are not being asked....the International reports that I have read almost mention Toxin as a post script in this blood bath that is unfolding in Bangkok, and before long, the entire Nation....Sure unequal distribution of wealth, privilege, elitism, cronyism........no voices coming from the most revered institution, noticably deafening silence compared with the other noises of barbarism in the streets....

  7. whybother,

“The reds don't want reconciliation. They want to be in power. They only want one thing. That's why they don't want to negotiate.”

That may be your take, but things look very different to the Thais in the upcountry villages – which is surely what is more germane than farang opinion. If you doubt me, read the international press, rather than The Nation & BKK Post, which are propaganda outlets for the BKK ‘elite’.

We have no sure idea of what Abhisit wants, or how genuine are his conciliatory offers. Relevantly, the Reds apparently do not trust him. I’m sure he would be very happy if they all went quietly home. But from their viewpoint, what would they have gained, apart from a politician’s promises?

As from the start, the peaceful solution is seemingly for dissolution of a government founded on an army coup & political horse-trading, then a new election. The alternative is more bloodshed & chaos, but that’s just my take.

The farangs who take a violently partisan approach in this crisis are crapping in their own nest, IMHO. This is a very unstable part of the world. Thailand is surrounded by some very dodgy regimes. Not the least problem is the Moslem violence in the south. Inernal strife weakens Thailand. If you want to continue enjoying its benefits, you might do well to tone down your calls for ‘crackdowns’ & ‘firm action’ – the old jackboots & bullets treatment for the ungrateful poor.

It is not impossible that a regime change will arrive. The new bosses might be the ‘Reds’ you so vigorously attack. You might find your position as a farang insecure. Thais are not idiots, & they have memories. You could find it very difficult to renew your visa &/or work permit in the future. Think on’t. OGT

:) Oldgit maybe not, many should reflect on your last paragraph, you write with some wisdom, too many farangs I have heard over the years while living in Thailand, spoke ill of thais and were constant complainers and whiners, I would always say if you are not happy here why not return from whence you came, now they may not hace an option...

  8. This is a photo of a ten year old boy shot last night, a sober reminder to all those praying for a crackdown what it eventually leads to.

    http://tweetphoto.com/22448632

This is a article on the shooting unfortunately in Thai

    http://www.dailynews.co.th/newstartpage/in...contentId=65910

It's also a sober reminder to the drunk drivers speeding towards army checkpoints with kids in the car.

Get the women and children out of there!

get the WOMEN, CHILDREN, OLD and SICK out of the red fighting zone !

:) Too late I would say, tragically!

  9. :D I wonder what way Condo Security guards will swing if it gets to civil war....lots of farangs living in expensive condos rely on these guys to protect them, will they?

You already know the answer to your question. It was quite rhetorical.

    The answer is NO !!!!!!!

What you can in fact rely on is that when the reds come knockin' your friendly guard in will give you away. 100% bankable, guilt edged, guaranteed!

Chai khap. me farang yer khap. Farang yoo hong 123, 345, 678, 789, gor, 909 duay khap. khaa mort loei.

:) Rhetoric is my forte Bark/ing Mad......Its cold in Melbourne, but there is no mayhem, I have a few dear friends in Bangkok and it is their safety that is my concern, so many farangs believe they are invincible, some may like to reconsider this in the light of what I am reading from arm chairs in Bangers and Television Reports.....the word 'amok' comes to mind, albeit an Indonesian derivative but we have seen what they are capable of in terms of mob behaviour...stay safe.

  10. :D

    :D
    This totally ridiculous.

Only one group will attach the army during the crackdown and whole world already knows that.ir doesn’t matter if they are wearing Red shirt, white, or no shirt at all. As I see no one will condom the army for bring order to this country, when and if they are able

:D 'Condom the Army'....this is the only interesting post I have read among all the farangs and their opinions about a country they were not born in, nor raised in, nor have any affinity other than spare time to give opinions as to what they deem to be the problems facing Thailand...yes I know a typo...Condemn The Army.....if a civil war breaks out lots of farangs will not have a nano second to become armchair socio-political commentators which they seem to revel in so much... :)

maybe you are referring to the red veiled threats towards expats who who do not support the Thaksin agenda.

I wasnt Yoshi, but an interesting comment you make.......would like to know more concerning the 'veiled' threats and where they were made from neath the veil....farangs seem to think they have some invincibility in all of this mayhem, however when people run 'amok', who knows who will be the target, may not only be crossfire or collateral, try Rhodesia et alii....Dukkha.

  12. :D I am undergoing chemotherapy in Melbourne after diagnosed at Bangkok Christian Hospital. I did not bring any equipment from Thailand despite the chaos of the Oncology Ward where I am an out patient here......and there is nothing to joke about concernng cancer...besides imagine if they found a cure, how would all those medicos make money, not to mention the drug barons... :D

Sorry to hear that. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

:) Many thanks Rixalex for your kindness, it has been nightmarish, could not afford medical treatment in Bangkok so had to rush back to Melbourne.....the most wonderful thing was that we got my thai partner of 5 years a tourist 6 months visa so he is here with me to cushion the discomfort...probably good timing for both of us....if ya get my drift..take care. life is so fragile wherever one lives....Dukkha

  14. :D Although no longer a resident of Thailand, sadly, but of Australia. My partner is here for 6 months, tourist Visa....He told me this story from the village, in thai...His mother was asked who is the farang whose name is on the envelope that are everywhere to make donations to the village Wat, and she replied to the woman, oh that is my son in law, in Isaan thai...thought it rather sweet considering I am a zillion years older...I called them in person mer and por, the others by first name..and during our 5 year relationship I am always addressed by all generations as Ajarn...my partner never uses my first name until now in Melbourne where "Ajarn' just doesnt work.....special hi to Ajarn PB from a grey and dull Melbourne day...yes missing Thailand terribly but hey, impermanance... :) Dukkha
  15. :) I was thinking here in the safety of my Melbourne rented apartment, late of Sathorn, Bangkok, 3 years, Hua Hin 2 years, Chiangmai 4 years, about the leaders of the Red Shirts.

Would I be accurate in saying these leaders are not rural poor rice farmers from Roi Et, the home of my partner where I saw poverty in the true sense of the word, and whose inhabitants, including my partner, are supporters of the red shirts...I would imagine they are not looking for the next grain of rice, or pulling out Pak Bung Fai Daeng from a field or knocking orff the heads of a chook to supplement the meagre meal....these leaders would be computer savvy, gold plated I know not, driving cars, living in apartments not single rooms with several people...lets not go so far as to say well heeled, but my impression from what I am reading on this thread concerning the red shirt leaders is they are not doing it too tough but present as the vox populi paupertas.....how genuine? how compassionate towards the nations real rural poor, think they might have a few nests of their own they are feathering, and of course the elite, well we know without the rural poor and the burmese their lives would be radically different.....there seems to be a disconnect for me twixt the Thai Rouge and Thai Poor....then there is Pol Toxin....and I dont mean Pol Captain....ok enuff from me.... :D
