  1. One off mate, he must have had to stop to think

Think, c'mon, the reason he pulled in is that they (Thai's) can only do one thing at once. Wish I had witnessed it though.

  2. Thanks for that, been ages since I heard them play.

Firstly at Climax on WS as you say, then they went to soi 7 or 8, DJ bar I think before going to Utopia.

I`ll have a look for them next time I`m around soi 2 late, near where I live so handy.

They were my favourite band, be good to listen to them again.

    Cheers.

Wondered where they had gone, excellent group, will sus them next time I am in Pattaya, January unfortunately, love to come earlier.

  3. post-62652-0-29551300-1321870740_thumb.jpost-62652-0-08886900-1321870712_thumb.jpost-62652-0-68978300-1321870669_thumb.j

Find attached pictures of the drinks menu from El Murphy. As you can see it is not just a photocopy as some one implied but a ring bound folder.

It clearly states that VAT is excluded. it also clearly shows the price of a Singha jug at 210b.

I also attached my receipt (as they are VAT regulated they have to give you one if you ask)

the receipt shows that i paid 190b for one jug and 210b for the other. the 1st jug was purchased at approx 8.45 the 2nd at approx 9.30.

So that is a DISCOUNT from the drinks menus. You may decide that is not so..up to you. but to me it clearly shows a discount off advertised prices.

As for the boards outside i have no idea. Ask the management, I did and was told that happy hour is now 7pm to 9pm. was it lies. I don't know BUT i got my discount so i do not care.

ALSO V.A.T in Thailand is only 7%.

"Value Added Tax ('VAT') is a tax on the sale of goods or the provision of services. The current rates are 7% and 0% with some exemptions from VAT."

    source http://www.mazars.co...VAT-in-Thailand

Another case of people not getting their facts right on this thread.

If you read my last post I said the photo copy's that were being handed out (obviously at the front door), I can only assume this leather bound version is kept in the safe? :whistling:

20 baht diff, after 9pm charge, spend 210 baht and get 20 baht off during happy hour, lets all get down there, normally you get 30% off. :whistling:

Happy Hour is 7am to 7pm.

VAT is 7%, I agree and always have on this one. :jap:

Another case of people manipulating the facts.

  4. I have stayed at el murphys before. but this time i wanted just a fan room. But not quite sure why it was so important for you to ask twice.. Strange fella you are.

Might have something to do with the fact that you did not answer the first time..dopey fella you are.

  5. I found one solitary thread about it on the internet.. but i have managed to get the number.. It is the Baan Pak hotel 032511653

:realangry: Why tell us, your the one that wants the info? Who the hell wants to stay at a Hotel on a noisy street full of whores and drug dealers? Mind boggle's

Why not stay with your mates at El Murphy's ?

because some people are not as closed minded as yourself.and may find the information useful.... Stalker material you are.....ohhhh.

Same question; Why not stay with your mates at El Murphy's ? :(:(

  6. Yes, that second floor at Best Beans is like being in someone's comfortable living room... very nice, and it has a/c but as stated to use the room and the a/c you would have to buy something. Food and drinks are good quality and pretty cheap there so that shouldn't be a problem.

Whereabouts is this place "Best Beans", I am in Takiab once a week.

  7. My wife and a friend went to both markets about ten days ago. She said they were both interesting (to Thais) and better than she expected but that the one on the secondary road off Soi 112 was far better than the one directly on Soi 112.

As for how they are doing, she was there on a weekday and said they both had many customers but were not crowded. The weekend before that (two weeks ago), I drove by the one on Soi 112 and it was so crowded that the paved parking area provided was completely full and they were directing cars to a temporary dirt lot a few hundred meters away. There was also a line of cars turning down the road to the second one that day... so I suspect they are doing ok (at least on weekends when the Bangkokians come down).

I heard about that owner's death too, but the story I heard left it unclear whether it was someone involved in one of the Hua Hin floating markets or one in Ayuthya.

I went on a weekday, disappointing. :jap:

  9. Hi.

Where are the signs? I can read some Thai so I might be able to have a look, or at least ask a Thai friend to help. In any case you're right the website does not appear to work and on doing a DNS lookup there isn't much information returned so not possible to tell who owns it. Cheers.

The signs are on the Klong Road ( don't know the proper name, the Road with the Canal & River beside it ) at the Traffic Lights on the side of the Road that would take you out of Town & out towards where the Club will actually be based.smile.gif.

That's the only sign i've seen.

be nice to know the exact Location ??? :whistling:

  10. Thank you all for your answers

Regarding car: I keep on searching but due to Bangkok flood I'd probably stick with a new one T.G. there are some at my budget of approx. 550 K Not exactly what I was looking for but I'm afraid to buy a drowned one at Bangkok, Please advise if there more English friendly web sites for used cars http://one2car.com with Google chrome translation doesn't work fine for me.

House is my main issue at the moment - still looking for it.

Visa : Was surprised that I need to go to Malaysia in order to get a student visa  I thought It could be Burma. Another surprise was that only one parent can obtain a dependent visa even if there are 2 kids or more in the family.

Visa's are very flexible which change all the time, get proper advice. :jap:

  11. I used to live near a school and each morning all the parents with the kids on their bikes would line up at the redlight and at the first opportunity to drive through it they'd zoom through. Great example for the little ones I thought.

One copper used to arrive with one young kid on the back of his bike and a younger one spread across the gas tank. No helmets on them of course.

You just have to laugh at them, like Manuel in Fawlty Towers. It's a great and endlessly entertaining place to live when you have that attitude.

:o Quite right, have a laugh instead of getting so frustrated it makes you ill. Double standards, expect the copper was being paid for Police Work at the time.

  12. Previous posters miss out

When you marry everything acquired after marriage split 50/50 after divorce INCLUDE children.

Not like west where woman own children.

Not marry, children only ever belong to her.

If you intend have children correct order important, buy condo (I prefer rent), buy car (maybe) then get marry have children.

Never take lady out of Thailand, she never get rights in west.

    Absolute rubbish..

I won full custody of my Daughter here in Thailand & i'm not married, nor ever will be, to her Mother.

OP, most sensible Post on the thread was the one about the Cow & the Milk, honestly..smile.gif

Yes quality answer, Cow and Milk. Thats "Tee Shirt" logo material. :o

  13. Well here is the board outside the bar a few days back....

Happy hour runs from 7am to 7pm on draught beer - no mention of bottled beer or other drinks.

Still fails to mention VAT or service so add 17% to the prices shown

The prices are pretty average to start with but after an extra 17% I would not consider them to be Happy Hour prices (except for the owners profit margins).

There was another board advertising food and that made no mention of the ++ pricing policy which is one of the main complaints throughout this thread. Not to mention that the prices are ++ is just plain wrong <_<

Couldn't bring myself to go in and check anything else because it really isn't that important to me. I've alreday made my choice to avoid going in the place.

    Edit : attachment attached

The photo copy drinks menu that has taken 3 years to produce is now being handed out, price does not list extras.

The board outside the front door states 7pm to 7pm "Happy Hour", this we all knew, "thaicbr" is stating 7am to 9pm, we all know that is a lie.

Happy Hour is for selected drinks only, not all drinks, "thaicbr" sated he purchased beer at 08:45 then again after 9pm, the price difference was 20baht, that is the after 9pm charge, 20 baht per drink.

  14. Peenut, passing a Brazil nut[/font]' ] Frankly my dear, no one can stop me drinking/smoking bud.

Silly me, I thought it was the Thai that got confused with English past and future tense. When I wrote, start to plan and prepare for an emergency now, I do not mean the emergency is now. Rather, you can plan now for an emergency coming later, no?

I know I do, and I've just added "nutcracker" to my emergency supply - handy for any nut job.

hhfarang is also correct, it's real bad down in hh - there is simply no good bread to be had. And if you really want to know what Thai people DO NOT NEED in emergencies, take a walk around inside Tesco.

You cannot believe anything this guy say's, when the Bangkok people "Thai" came down to Hua Hin there was a panic for water for 1 day. "Shokdee" then stated it would get worse, its has not. :annoyed:

Yes you go to Tesco and there are shotage's due to supply from Bangkok, but its not across the whole supply just a few product's which leave some shelve's empty. No reason to panic, "7/11" seem to be well stocked as does "G Supermarket's". B)

    Hua Hin is OK. :jap:

  15. There are no really good bakeries here in Hua Hin but there are a few that makes some decent bread and of those I prefer the bread from Baguette, which is located on Petchakem Street around soi 39.

In addition to Baguette you have Euro Bakery, Hua Hin Bakery and the German Bakery.

You didn't ask about meat but meat is best from the butcher Jean Pierre and his Boucherie, located on Petchakem Road near soi 41.

    Baguette yes, nice breakfast also.

Large Bus Station near Bangkok Hospital for going to Isaan.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

  16. Came back from Bangkok yesterday, had a game of squash 2pm fell heavily and sprained my right wrist.

Went to Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin to check it was only a sprain, waited 3 1/2 hours, then walked out. Entered San Paulo was X Rayed withing 30 minutes. :whistling: Great service.
