  1. Tourist and foreigner need to be extra careful in such places, best is to go with some local friends in case of any problem at least no language issue......otherwise, you will just need to take risk while enjoying in other country, remember this is not your own country and sure don't expect people understand what you say and do what you expect them to do as in your own country.

    Just my 2 cents. wai.gif

  2. Wow, thank you all for all the responses. I didn't realize it was that far. It's the one near Chiang Mai Inter Business College. Is there another place like Big C where we can buy a cheap chair, towels and stuff for the home. We just moved here. We are not looking for expensive and we've been told Robinson is expensive.

Anyhow, thanks for all the tips.

Big C extra is not too far from night market, pass nawarat bridge all the way down few traffic lights will be there....where the new central festival is nearby. I saw a lot of songtaew (red cab) and tuktuk around Big C extra, homepro, Index furniture area too. Think a 100-120 baht price for tuktuk and red cab should be around 30-50 baht.

If you are staying long term in CM, is better to get a motorcycle for easy travelling.

    • Next to Honda dealer along Huaykeaw road toward CMU just after the juction of SUper highway/nimman on the left side.

New top case coming to Thailand, heard their new showroom about to open in Feb and maybe they have some stock for you.

Saw the catelog and sample product, quality either same or better than GIVI, but price much cheaper starting from 1700 baht for basic model 28L, till higher model with remote, alarm, mobile phone charger, colour changing options etc.

  5. Seem like quite a lot of foreigner wanted to buy and rent out.....wonder if there're many people looking for rent in CM?

Renting to foreigner will be usually short term, if longer term they prefer to buy instead.

Renting to local Thai will be worker who works in CM, don't think they can afford or want to pay anything above 7000 baht a month.

So, is it a good business to buy condo for rental income??

  6. Ok so plans changed again lol. A flight popped up to land in CM that comes to the same price if I was to land in bkk then go to cm. So now I'll be landing in cm and just booked the flight. I'll actually be staying in the Mae Taeng area to see a friend. So what is the best place to get my phone unlocked in cm without having to stay the night in the city. I just want to land and go straight to mae taeng.

If you are just coming to visit a friend buy a cheap throw away phone for use here in Thailand. I call back to the states and Canada for only 5 baht a minute and I have heard there is cheaper plans.

But it would be a good idea to get your phone unlocked. I would never buy a locked one.

I'm staying longer than 3 months

More so you should just buy a simple phone in Thailand which cost less than usd 30, can even get a new simple nokia at usd 10-20 (500-700 baht) or just a 2nd hand for 200-300 baht less than usd 10. Why all the trouble to buy lock phone and try unlock in Thailand?? crazy.gif

First flight touch down in Chiangmai at 0715 by nokair DD8300 seem to be the only option, flight departure at 0605 with boarding time 0500 so just 4-5 hours wait in the airport should be your best choice. Ticket cost 1990 baht if you can book earlier on their website nokair.com
