  1. Reds are also on the way to NBT - I think it's unlikely they're going there to give another letter.

Total madness. I have supported the current government but if they do not stop this now they do not deserve to rule. IMO.

Nation: Red leaders at EC are all hardcore reds _ Arisman, Kwanchai, Suporn (E-saan Rambo).

A portion of protesters, 100 or more, have been inside the EC building.

TV reports show reds roaming the ground floor of the EC building. Not threatening, but situation tense and confusing.

Nation Channel reporter inside the building is reporting live with 3G video.

  2. These iddiots are going to far it is time they were charged and arrested. This is getting rediculous. i have no problem with rallies, even sit ins to a certain extent but disruption of the country is going to far how is cowtowing to a few tens of thousands of radical terrorist protesters democracy ot of a country of 60 some million.

The government also ought to charge Mr. T with sedition, terrorism and conspiracy and put out an international warrent for his arrest with interpol and any and all other international police organizations.

Well said. If the government does not stop this madness now they will loose all credibility and rightly so. I have supported them so far but if they let this continue they do not deserve to rule. IMO.

  3. Well - everyone is as miserable as he chooses to be... My Thai wife and all her friends and neighbours in the area have got a similar positive attitude and I don't see any hatred against the Reds. I don't see anyone's life really being made miserable because of the Red Shirts.

Believe it or not, I think your opinion is massively geographically challenged. I bet you all the business owners in the surrounding areas are having kittens right now about their staff from outside the area being prevented from approaching the area. Many staff workers people use public busses or drive their own cars. To think that people's lives are not being made miserable by a rally cutting of access to the heart of a city during the first working day of the week is outright naive.

Suthep's inability to handle the situation is again landing us with another Pattaya ASIAN conference – it's time for him to go and this to end.

According to him, he would be happy in a concentration camp. I just dislike when it appears people make up personal stories to support a cause and avoid simply saying what they are ... in this case a Red Shirt supporter.

Wow, what a guy have we got here? Talking about concentration camp and coming with an attitude influenced by the Bush doctrine "either you are with or you are against us". If you come from an English speaking country you probably cannot understand that there are more view than just yes or no or democrat/republican or conservative/labor or similar. If I'm taking a more neutral approach and not broadly condemning and judging the Red Shirts it doesn't mean that I support them. I'm neither supporting the Red Shirts nor the Yellow Shirts nor the Blue Shirts nor the Pink Shirts. I'm just wondering how some farangs chose to think that life is miserable if some businesses are suffering - life is going on, people here are inventive and most find ways to make the best out of the situation. Some people have got the ability to make the best for themselves out of even a miserable situation and some don't. The only thing that really counts for me is that the crisis will end without bloodshed.

Can we please leave the Bush hater syndrome out of this string? Totally irrelevant to what this thread is about. The tread is "Democrat MPs Angry Over Suthep's Soft Handling Of Red-Shirts".

  4. The blocking of the interesection is not shutting down any business.

There are roads around the demonstration.

Nobody is stopping people working or shopping, it is the owners of the places who have shut them down of their own free will.

Bangkok has many roads, nowhere is blocked access. On foot anywhere can be accessed. By car a small diversion is needed.

More and more are supporting the Reds now, at night when its cool and people finish work the Reds numbers swell. Thats good news.

Many people support the Reds and demanded House Dissolution now. They also questioned why, with staggering evidence far in excess of what was used to disband TRT and PPP, that the EC still muddles on and delays for months the case of dissolution against the Democrats that is pending.

    Get real.

  5. Well, I am in Bangkok and have proved it. ...

    Actually no you haven't.

You only proved you know someone who is in Bangkok

and can send you a picture by email.

    Absolutely NO PROOF.

As if we really care where the propaganda program is based

    or has agents in residence.

All his effort to prove he is in BKK seems more likely he is not even here. I think he protests too much over something only he is obsessed with. One would have to assume he is on some portable device to have had this picture so ready to share after his typing his demands for people to submit photos. He was doing the same thing early in the morning under the name JW2010 on a different thread ... same exact demand of the same type of picture.

For goodness sakes people. Who really gives a flying one about where he is anyway, stop feeding him and maybe he will stop this crap.

Good advice. By now we all understand his intentions. Just ignore him and hopefully he will go away.

  6. Lots of cars and motorbikes with red flags on them.

Support remains very strong for the red shirts amongst Bangkok people. Although they are inconvenienced they know the Reds are for the good of the country and so support them in silence.

This is shown by the fact the Yellow's put on Pink shirts but could only muster less than 5000 on Friday and less than 1000 on Saturday.

The people support the Reds and its why those demanding violence against the reds are disappointed, the government dare not touch the Reds at the moment, it would backfire very quickly.

Thanks to the Bangkok people for supporting the reds with cheers, with food and with water :) !!!

My goodness can we please have a reprieve from your continous drivel nonsense?

  7. Here is my "verification" of being in BKK.

Todays papers (both) in hand from the top of a skytrain station steps, easy landmark to recognise in Bangkok.

    100404095100.jpg

So now you know I am in Bangkok.

How many others CAN verify their location as "in Bangkok". If they cannot then readers might be well advised to question their views when they are not even in the place where its all going on.

Now, verify yourselves as in Bangkok ???????

    I bet nobody else can.

    :) :D :D :D

    Childish and pathetic!

  8. I think in order to clear up who has the right to update on the situation in Bangkok, and who are just noise and posting from afar and causing trouble lets have a photo verfication session.

Get hold of the Bangkok Post and the Nation, today's prints.

Walk to a well known Bangkok landmark, Emporium, MBK, Sky Train etc.. and take a photo of both of the papers together with the landmark in the background.

Then put your user name as a watermark on the picture, and then post it on here.

Then readers will know WHO IS IN BANGKOK, and who are pretending to be in Bangkok.

Good idea ? I think so.

    Another Weng

I am going to do my photo now. Then you will know RedJay IS IN BANGKOK and can comment on the situation as RedJay is here, really in Bangkok.

Unlike many posters on here I think, who are just Yellow/Pink affiliated trouble makers probably down in Hat Yai and Surat Thani, the beloved homeland of the Democrats.

I am sorry to burst your bubble but no one cares where you are my friend.

  9. Animatic, are you saying you're actually a progressive? How the hel_l can't you be supporting the Reds then?

The truly progressive stopped apologising for the PAD after the coup, and many of them are marching out the front of Central World as I type.

Realise this movement goes beyond Thaksin, and that many of its number are just as abhorrent of what he did as you are. But they were able to put aside this hatred for the purposes of seeing the Six Principles of the UDD fulfilled:

The Six Principles of the (UDD) The United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship

    1) Achieving the goal of establishing a genuine democracy that has the King as our Head of State, with political power belonging exclusively to the people. We reject any attempt, past or future, at using the monarchy to silence dissent or advance a particular agenda.

    2) Dissolving the 2007 Constitution and restoring the 1997 Constitution, which may then be amended through a transparent, consultative and democratic process.

    3) Bringing Thais together in an effort to solve our political and socio-economic problems, recognizing that such efforts must stem from the power of the people.

    4) Implementing the rule of law, due process and a system of equal justice for all, free of any obstructions or double-standards.

    5) Uniting all Thais who love democracy, equality, and equal justice within all facets of society, in an effort to deconstruct and move beyond the Amartyatippatai (Aristocracy) system.

    6) Using exclusively non-violent means to achieve these objectives.

It saddens me to see progressives divided in this way, and even sadder that the flavour of rhetoric such as yours had you pegged in my mind as a conservative. You are on the wrong side of history, mate.

Good post- such ideology as has been expressed by the reds lately is, to my mind, quite astute- it regards the nation as being controlled by an untouchable cabal of beaurocrats, military and judiciary, all at the service of a historic land owning aristocracy with varying proximity to the center of power- not unlike feudal societies of the past. This view would hold that no democracy of any stripe is possible unless power is devolved to the citizenry. THe real questions that should be asked now would refer to the accuracy of this analysis. If anyone could recommend a good academic analysis of this system, I for one, would be grateful.

Look guys if the above information was true and the reds were really intending to instute their six principles without regard to who is elected as PM I might support them. But anyone with half a brain that has lived here for the past ten years knows this is only about bring Mr. T back, setting aside his conviction and returning his money. End of story.

  11. [

Having lived here over 20 years you can be assured I have avoided TVF posting for ages (over 8 years), its full of the most arrogant ill informed serial trolls (mostly lousy teachers who live in Thailand on the meagre salaries and think they are "experts").

I got here via a link on The Nation website, after laughing at their latest load of nonsese they have written.

However this morning I got fed up with the clear nonsense being spouted by many of the posters on here and decided to sign up and have a post or few in response to the never ending load of absolute nonsense being talked about the Reds.

Does it frighten some of you to have someone in Bangkok posting here ? Someone who does not toe the "propaganda" line ?

    Breakfast time, sorry, must go.

True colors coming out he? Please think of your blood pressure!

Have a good and above all very long breakfast!

I think the Reds and JW have a point, yet many here chastise them both with mean spirited and thoughtless language. Frankly, I am embarassed for you. Some of the comments against the Reds and JW remind of right wing republicans here in the US.

Give us a break. Please don't start with the right wing, left wing crap in the US. We are not interested. Besides that has absolutely nothing to do with this forum. If you want to push you agenda please find another place to post.

  12. hmmm, you must be in a different Thailand than the rest of us who live in BKK

I tell you what, I guess you are not even in Bangkok.

Take a photo of the red motorbike taxi riders sat adjacent to Robinson Sukhumvit on Soi 17 then, and post it on here, then I will beleive you are in Bangkok.

If you like hold a copy of todays Bangkok post headlines in the bottom of the photo so we know its real and today.

    Can you ?

    Oh Please!

  13. Nat Jantakat, a 38-year-old lychee farmer from the north, for one vowed to keep up the fight, making light of the 37 degrees Celsius (99 Fahrenheit) temperature.

"I've been here since the first day and I'll be here until we achieve democracy."

Spoken like a true patriot. Democracy is ending the present government, sending Thailand in a downward spiral and bringing back the man on the run to restore his ill gotten gain. What a buffalo.

Well 500-1000thb per day beats the 200thb(if that) so of course many of them want to stay for as long as possible. Not to mention FREE food and drinks

It is very sad indeed that many if not most of those people actually understand, and are easily manipulated by the people who have alternate interests

Without toilet facilities is not that worthy of the 500-1000thb per day? :)

I really feel sorry for the people from my village here in Issan who were inticed to join the rally (about 100) because they are now potentially in harms way. These are salt of the earth people. Of course they are making three times as much daily wages and sending money back to the family weekly. As I stated in a previous post the man who works for me has eight extended family members who joined the rally. They do not have a clue as to why this is all happening but are happy to participate for the money.

Sorry I didn't realise that the electorate had actually voted to put the current custodians of power in office, rather I thought that they'd been imposed by those on heigh.... Some democracy that is, bit like that shower running the show in Burma really!

Interesting reply. I suppose you forgot that Mr. T brother-in-law was put into office by the exact same process. Didn't see any protest from the reds then.

And Mr T's Brother-in law didn't last long either, did he? It would be interesting to know what your definition of democracy is or don't you believe in it?

The point I was trying to make is when Mr. T's brother-in-law was PM the reds has no cause to demonstrate simply because Mr. T was in power. By the way it is now a mute point since he was convicted but while he was in power he raped all Thai people of billions. Surely you know this also. Surely you are not naive enough to think these demonstrations are about democracy. If so you need to read more.

My definition of democracy is as follows. Government of the people, for the people and by the people. A form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system

  17. Nice titling PUNISH THE SUSPECTS

Good point. We are (should be) innocent until proven guilty. But how many guys charged with this crime ever prove their innocence? Many of them are caught in the act. Sad but true!

???? where do you get this stat that many are caught in the act???? Do the police spy on the room until they see actual penetration ?

OK I restate. Some are caught in the act. Occasionally there is an article in the Nation or Bangkok Post of police entering a room in Pattaya where a guy is caught in the act with underage boys. Do a search of the paper and you will find these articles.

  18. The thread is about foreigners commiting child sex...sure some locals are guilty of it too but who cares in what ratio to foreigners. There is no need for foreigners to add to an existing problem here...be it bad driving, drunkeness, littering and other bad behaviour.

So what if there are double standards against foreigners in this matter? The problem should not be ignored and targetting foreigners first is at least one step in the right direction.

Agreed foreigners should be targeted along with everyone else and if guilty should have their family jewels removed. There is no place for this here or anywhere on earth. The piont I was trying to make is that little is done domestically to combat this horrible crime against the innocent.

  19. New guidelines to punish foreign paedophilia suspects

    Aha.... Double standards !

Why ? Locals will not receive the same punishment because... ????????

Right on the money ManilaLover. I have lived in LOS for 24 years and have noticed the ratio of domestic paedophilia to foreign paedophilia in this country is off the scale. But it is mai phen rai when it is a Thai national unless it is a high-so that is caught in the act. Of course this automatically means a large settlement to the family. Double standards 100%.

  20. I don't think so. For the first time - at least since the onset of the PAD protests all those years ago - they managed to bring the PM to the negotiating table in a televised 'debate'.

That was hardly a laughing matter for Abhisit and the govenment.

But don't you think the reds have lost support because they have stopped those negotiations?

The reds wouldn't have *gained* any supporters by rejecting the offer.

There would be red supporters out there that have basically said "we got something, now lets go home."

The red supporters do not have a clue as to what is the root cuse of this fiasco i.e. Khun T wants his money back. The guy who works for me here in Issan has eight extended family members who have been in the Bangkok red rallies for three weeks. They each receive 500 B a day plus free food and transportation to Bangkok. Here they would be making 150/200 B a day. It is economics for these people. They want to come home but can't afford to as they are making three time as much waving clappers and cheering. Sad but true.

I agree. But to say (and I quote you): "The red supporters do not have a clue as to what is the root cuse of this fiasco i.e. Khun T wants his money back." is too simple.

I believe this protest isn't solely about Thaksin and his money. I don't think I would be exagerating if I stated that the majority of Red-Shirts are indeed aware of the wider economic and social implications of the movement and the desire for political change and reform.

Of course - there are undoubtedly those at the protest site whose only concern is their own personal well-being and finances and who don't give a fig about anyone or anything except themselves and where their next lovely crisp 500 baht note is coming from.

Giving you the benifit of the doubt if you are correct in your theory of the majority of the reds desiring political change and reform, pray do tell why there has not been one proposal from the red leaders for reform such as ways to increase farmers income, decrease poor people debts, increase exports, decrease unemployment, on and on? The red leaders only know, do and say what they are instructed from the boss on the run. Am I wrong? If so please correct me.

  21. I don't think so. For the first time - at least since the onset of the PAD protests all those years ago - they managed to bring the PM to the negotiating table in a televised 'debate'.

  22. Right you are Ciaociao. There are only a few satellites serving Thailand that one can rent transponder time. Surley this government has the simple know how to find which transponder Khun T is using. If they shut his daily VC calls down that would go a long way in sutting down the hatred he is spreading among Thai people.

Don't be silly. He'd just pre-record the videos to play for the masses later. No big deal.

    Silly me.
