  1. I can't tell if this is serious or a joke.

It HAS to be a joke. Who eats at KFC in Thailand?

C'mon Ian, I'm sure you have seen theFarangs in Pattaya and Chang Mai and BKK stuffing their pie holes with lashings of KFC washed down with Pepsi or coke or whatever it is, I have.

KFC is the farangs natural food.

  3. "it's not an iPhone, yet can do most of the same things"

most? hard sell claiming iphone is functionally superior to android tbh.

Comparing the Samsung Galaxy S2 with the iPhone 4, Apple have to play catch up IMO.

It's great to finally have something to seriously challenge the mighty iPhone, happily for us tech freaks mega corporation competition is great leading to better products.

    Samsung Galaxy S2 v iPhone ?

    No contest.

Samsung wins it hands down, speed, screen, flexibility, great camera, 1080p video, I had an iPhone 4 and was instantly converted to the SG2s upon viewing it and seeing what it was capable of , it knocked my iPhone 4 into a cocked hat, my screen looked dull compared with the Samsung, I like apple products and have an iPod , iPod Touch, iPad that I use every day, but the SGS2 blows the iPhone 4 away.

Just my opinion, of course, the guys like me that paid nearly 30.000 Baht a while ago for the iPhone 4 may disagree, but I have owned both, still do, and the SGS2 is the best of the 2 in my opinion.

  4. yes, its called a bank book, and must contain at least 10,000,000 THB .... will get her knickers off in seconds

Yes this is definitely the book that most Thai ladies would be interested in biggrin.gif

It's not what you look like or what you say to them that makes much difference as long as the

bank book is six figures or more, YOUR THE MAN!

The people in Thailand who you have to be most wary of are certainly not the Thais.

  5. Maybe they should do what some large bookshops have done in the west. Add free wifi....install racks of books and sell cooffee and snacks too, they seem to find value in their customers staying.

They are all going bankrupt. I don't think that will work for a tiny restaurant with only a few tables anyway. :ermm:

Yeah, go into the book shops, browse through the bookshelves finding books that you like, go onto a Torrent site and download them for free as ePub files on your computer to read when you want on, iPad, Kindle etc. smile.gif

  6. Thanks everyone for the useful advice. I will go shopping at the weekend and see what I can find

QED, maybe if you say what area you live in, a member here may be able to meet you and help out with setting up a system for you, going to the shop with you if you are not too sure, etc.

As others have said, WDTV media player is a good way to go.

Maybe that way you'll get to know someone who have has hundreds of movies and TV series already downloaded, buy them a few beers and copy straight from their hard drive onto yours, you'll have a mega media library in 24 hours ! biggrin.gif

  7. Foreigners in Thailand according to andrewbkk:

Sexpats, failures, born losers, criminals, and the mentally ill

Andrew, do you get out of bars much? I mean do you go anywhere else besides, ahem, bars?

I have farang friends that are here because they went to school here, grew up in Bangkok. Where do they fit in on the above list?

Sexpats, Failures, Criminals, Born Losers and the Mentally Ill who happened to go to school and grew up in Thailand ?

  8. George was never that bright and that is why he is still fighting. Congrats i have never spoken to a world champ before. what did you do with the 15 dollars?

Spent it in the sweet shop. smile.gif

  9. The ignorance and stupidity here is abound isn't it?!

It's a different culture - who are you to come into THEIR country and criticize??

What about kids playing soccer - impossible for a kid to get kicked in the head in that sport aswell???

Kids should be born in padded rooms and left there until they're old and withered just so they don't get injured...

Yes I guess it is from your end. It is indeed their Country and they can do what they want, but that does not mean that everyone has to agree with it. I will ask the question again as nobody has yet replied. Do you condone 3 year old kids being made to fight for money in packed arena's?

If, like me they had a shot at the title at that age, I see no wrong, I knocked the crap outta George Foreman when I was 4, retired undefeated when I was 9.

  10. it's understandable why a lot of folks might not want to admit to themselves that they are on similar 'no way out' life paths: increasing expenses, diminishing income and assets, bridges long since burnt... Believing that a particular case must have been murder at least provides a glimmer of hope that there will be a way out... 'the deceased was going to find a way, but his life was simply cut short before he was about to make it.'

    :)

    Well said. smile.gif

  11. There is a large exchange shop on the corner of Sukumvit Rd and Soi 7. Forgot the name but they do large cash amounts at very good exchange rates. one time I watched a Middle eastern guy (with security) change about 150k US to baht once. For large amounts one may need to give notice. I always use this shop to change back to US.

    Hope this helps.

As LIE says, Vasu Money Exchange, good rates, can also try Super Rich, http://www.superrichthailand.com/editor/rate.html

  12. Are YOU for real? How do you "force" a three year-old to do ANYTHING he doesn't want to do? You are assuming force because it fits in better with your world view. My three year-old nephew would jump into the ring with nO prompting whatsoever. And how much damaged you really think one three year-old can inflict on another?

Let's go to the polls, shall we? And no use of emotional, exaggerated verbiage such as "infant", "abuse", or "force", please.

Richard it appears that the only thing that we have in common is our first name. If you want o go to the polls go ahead and do it. I ask again did you see the documentary? All three words are relevant to this thread because that is what it is.

What were you doing at 3 years old by the way?

I was fighting for the heavyweight championship of the world. smile.gif

  13. The above link is indeed interesting in its comments concerning the state of English society today. The writing was on the wall 20 years ago, that's why I left.

Seems as if 20 years down the road my worst fears have been confirmed.

However there could well be a backlash to this scenario and possible a part restoration of older values , family life, respect for others and their property and beliefs might just happen.

Congratulations softgeorge for post #146, right on target sir !!

It's too late Lee, the crazy laws in the UK have made it so easy for criminals that nobody is deterred anymore, all they get is a slap on the wrist.

The PC brigade have a lot to answer for, we had these Mullahs preaching hate, Muslims burning the UK flag in London, can you imagine what would have happened if I had done similar in a Muslim country ?

  14. Problem is, the punishment for crimes committed are nothing, take these two prime specimens of British Youth, one getting some hours of unpaid work is just a joke and the other violent one will be out in just over 3 years, probably less on a Tag.http://www.thisislon...-our-readers.do

It's too easy in the UK, UK's punishment system holds no fears, they are looked after when inside and have to be looked after from the time of release.

It's not all that nice in prison, you should try it before you claim how comfy it is.

Even 1 night would have most people crying for mercy.

    For example

Underwear and clothing is shared, you don't have your own, after washing you get back what someone else wore. Invariably the underwear is stained. Bet you wouldn't fancy wearing that. Then you have cell mates, sometimes 3, and all use a bucket for overnight toilet. It smells and you have to take it in turns to slop out. Then there are the sexual liberties you cell mates might take with your body.

When was you inside, 1937 ?

  15. "Forcing"? More exaggerated verbiage. Did they tie down the kids and "force" them to fight? Doubtful. More likely, they were having a blast and gaining motor skills in a legitimate sport.

Time to either get off your soap box or put up a poll and live with the results.

Are you for real. how could they fight if they were tied down. So you think that a 3 year old knows the difference? Maybe they were having a blast losing their motor skills permanently?

Yeah, those 3 year olds sure throw heavy punches, when my son was 2 years old he would stick the nut on any stranger that picked him up, of course I would have to give him the nod first, kids learn young, he wouldn't nut anyone without daddy's approval. smile.gif
