  1. Weekenders and overnighters jumping through all those hoops needed to enter Thailand? And a 300 baht entrance fee as well! Don't think so.
  2. Actually they wouldn't run them out of business at all. The US has a thriving craft beer scene but that doesn't adversely affect the profits of Molson Coors and Anheuser Busch. In the UK the advent of CAMRA and more recently the craft beer brewers have had the effect of making the bigger brewers widen their product range and offer better beers, though many of them now make most of their profits on pub and hotel ownership rather than brewing beer. However you're right about the Thai craft beers. I've tasted several and they knock spots off Chang, Leo and Singha. But whatever happens there won't be an overnight change in the beer drinking habits of the average Thai consumer.
  3. And next on the Government agenda: controlling the sunbeds on Phuket's beaches!
  4. Airways’ assets stood at 161.2 billion baht, down 23 per cent year-on-year. Total liabilities were 232.5 billion baht, also down 31.2 per cent year-on-year A 70 billion baht deficit yet they still declare a 55 billion baht profit? Creative accounting methinks!
  5. I was about to ask the same. The only concern is that the test result arrive late, so I'd assume a later flight is safer.
  6. Looking at flights from London to Thailand right now. The cheapest option by far is Saudia Airlines. I'll be booking elsewhere!
  7. I've known several people who have had omicron in the UK and Thailand. Yes, a couple have had mild fevers but all seem to have had slightly different symptoms. I had no cough and no fever. But none of them have had any symptons that would require any sort of hospitalisation or even a visit to thee doctor and that's the main issue here, and hopefully one that's being addressed.
  8. I've had a headache, tiredness, sore throat, dry throat, light-headedness and a blocked nose at different times. Can you imagine the cocktail of drugs they'd be providing? The one symptom that doesn't appear to be that prevalent with omicron is a fever, which basically makes all the temperature checks a total waste of time! Nevertheless, this is a step in the right direction.
  9. This article comes a day after the proposition (again) of the internet gateway, The two just don't go together!
  10. Blimey! Phuket and London with the same traffic violation issue! That must be a first!
  11. Since when has this been a factor in Thai big business thinking?
  12. I've known several people in Phuket who have tested positive for covid via lateral flow test and not a single one of them has reported it. Add to this those asymptomatic and mild cases where people haven't been tested then I'm sure that the figures may well be close to that 100,000 already.

    Phuket News

Although I'm now in England, I like to keep abreast of what's going on in Phuket as I'll be back sometime. So, what's happened to the Phuket News forum? Last post was last Monday and almost all the headlines relate to the murder of the Canadian/Indian "businessman". Is there really nothing going on? And I also noticed this a couple of weeks ago. There's always something vaguely newsworthy, well by Phuket standards anyway!
  14. If they remove the day five test I'll come to Thailand at Easter. If they don't I won't. And it's not just me. I'm currently self-isolating at home in England as I tested positive yesterday. I hope to be out and about on Wednesday. The likelihood of my catching it again during April is slim, so I'm now prepared to risk the quarantine but I won't be forced into unwanted isolation in the middle of my stay.
