  1. Isn't Parliament due to be dissloved this month? If so he'll be in the role less time than Kwasi Kwarteng was UK Chancellor. And surely even Anutin couldn't cock up as much as Kwarteng did!
  2. Given the demographic of the pollsters, I'd have expected the opposition of these policies to show a higher percentage than the results indicate.
  3. The man is a genius. He will double tourist numbers and alleviate overcrowding in popular areas!!! However, with an election looming there's a good chance he won't be tourism minister for much longer so let';s hope the next incumbent is just as intelligent????
  4. Does this mean prices will go back down to pre-covid levels? Some of the prices I'm seeing on Facebook in particular seem much too high but if people are buying them then who can blame the sellers and, in particular, the agents?
  5. I took one mouthful of that horrible drink once, spat it out and have never touched it again.
  6. Travel insurance would pay if there was an issue with a balcony or building. The insurers would then file a claim against the building owners, who would hopefully have public liability insurance, though levels of cover in Thailand might be low. It's standard market practice and is known as subrogation. I would guess that a drugs/alcohol exclusion would be the most likely reason to deny liability but without knowing the facts I wouldn't want to speculate further., I would also add that if someone has an accident after just a couple of beers and it is demonstrated that alcohol consumption was not a contributing factor to the accident, insurers may not decline a claim under UK law. A travel insurance bought in the UK will be subject to UK laws.
  7. Looking forward to seeing how these things have improved.
  8. Party dissolution is nothing but a tool used by the military government in their bid to preserve power. It worked last time out. It's a ridiculous system as all the dissolved parties reform under a different name but it just takes time, which is perfect for those in power to nullify the opposition. Waiting to see how it plays out over the next few weeks.
  9. Maybe you could ask her to teach you the basics of the use of the apostrophe ????
  10. So, what happens to the cheating lecturers now? Transferred to the department of inactive teachers?
  11. Have they worked out how they're going to collect it for arrivals by air then as I've not seen it mentioned anywhere? I'm sure airlines and agents will not want to have the responsibility of only collecting from non-Thais and non-work permit holders.
  12. It would entirely depend upon the wording and in most cases of it was not a deliberate or reckless act insurance would cover this loss.
  13. Is Thailand still in the 20th century when it comes to credit card use? (I've been back in the UK for a while, hence the non-rhetorical question). I haven't used a signature to pay by card in years and I have never shown a passport to use a card. Everywhere requires a PIN. Along with the previous comments regarding non-cancellation this does seem a bit odd for 2023.
  14. You'd fit in quite well wearing a tiara on Beach Road at that time????! Just not a Rolex!
  15. Try another one then if you have had dealings with him before. I get on well with him but I am an insurance professional so talk roughly the same language!
  16. Speak to a broker. They should be able to give you a definitive answer and find cover if available. try Eric Dohlon at Bangkok Insurance Brokers (Google to find the phone number)
  17. I know Thailand always reacts after certain events, never even consider pre-emptive actions, but security checks to get on a bus? Surely not! Two people shot on a bus and they come up with grand plans. Several hundred people killed or injured in bus accidents every year and nothing changes.
  18. If tourism numbers double it'll be mostly from other Asian countries, particularly China and India. I would envisage when it reaches this stage it'll probably be off the radar of many European and Western tourists.
  19. That's not right Steven. Businesses that catered to Chinese tourists had less of a low season but for those that didn't there was a normal low season and prices reflected this.
  20. People with e-cigarettes in their possession, therefore, violate the law for accepting or owning prohibited products and can be fined up to 500,000 baht and/or get a jail term of up to five years. The officer went on to say that vapes are also considered cigarettes because it puts nicotine into the user’s body .The offenders can face a fine of up to 5,000 baht, said Trairong. In addition, it is illegal to vape in public places, such as offices, educational institutions, hospitals, airports and public transport. Offenders may be fined a maximum of 1,000 baht or sent to prison for up to 30 days. What?
  21. Tourism has returned as have the same old stories that had been missing from the pages of Asean Now for two years. It's like the clock has been reset!
