I have decided enough is enough, I am going to build a chicken free zone on our yard. The Mother in-laws chickens destroy everything. And the neighbors birds on the other side sneak over too.
Unfortunately it is going to be quite long, maybe 300 meters in total, so I am quite keen on limiting the expense. I hoping to make something about 2 meters tall. I am quite handy, so I can build whatever. I am interested in what are the most cost effective materials. Not a huge fan of the dark plastic shade cloths people sometimes use.

Whatever you buy, be aware of the weight and abrasive nature of sand. Also, if you do invest in equipment, you will likely need to supervise the operation.
What king of volume are you talking about?
I wont know until we get started, but there is a lot of sand and we have quite a lot of river. If we are wearing out the equipment we should be making money too, so the wear might be acceptable.
No one is getting rich on this though. I would be amused if it made enough after expenses to buy a scooter

In theory you need a licence for mineral extraction.
In theory, there are several people doing it for decades already, just old ladies with baskets though. No real equipment.

You would have to look for a mining supplier.(rayong)
Weir,Trelleborg, will cost an arm and leg.
Can you make it out of steel pipe with flanges.
It will need to be flexible, and a minimum of 4 meters. 8 to 10 meters would be better. The hose I need would be 500 bucks in the states for 6 meters.

My wife wants to take advantage of the large sand bar on our property. She wants to sell the sand. Sand is a good little side business up here. Not many sources.
It seems to me a sand dredge would be a lot simpler than having people in the river pulling out sand with baskets. Which is what the neighbors do.
Anyhow I have a pump that could run a 6 inch dredge, but I can only find 4" suction hose. I have heard that there is some black flexible pipe available, but I don't know where. I am in Chiang Rai province, but I could have it shipped from elsewhere. Any ideas?

Lots of great ingredients in Thailand to experiment with.
Issan sausage of pizza is lovely.

My Kaspersky VPN stopped working today. I can connect to it fine, but no sites can be accessed at all. Anyone else having troubles with VPN's in Thailand today?

Where can you get baby ducks in Chiang Rai?

We want to turn a field shed into a temporary living space for field workers. It's about 200 meters as the crow flies, but there is a hill in the middle, so say 250.
Anyhow they only want electric light (too many ghosts over there) and phone charging, no kettles or power tools, so we can go fairly light and put a breaker at the supply end if they hook up something too big.
Just wondering what gauge of wire would work. This is only for occasional use.

I think that the hyperbolic response to a virus that is no more deadly than the flu has been the greatest misdirection in the history of humanity. I know some people named Karen by the way. I have nothing against them. I was trapped in another country for 6 months separated from my family and had to rely on the charity of others to survive. That made me more upset than masks at Walmart.

Herd is definitely an appropriate term when it comes to describing the absurdity of the last 12 months.

The outcome of this trial is the GOP Senators have been put firmly on record on where they stand on Trump’s failed coup.
The ramifications are already damaging the GOP driving wedges between the GOP and ‘middle America’.
Twice the GOP Senators had a chance to be rid of Trump, twice they could not find their backbone.
They’ll pay a price for this self serving cowardice.
The two party system is the bane of American democracy. Perhaps Americans are going to have some actual choices someday.

A rare good day for justice, shame on the Democrats for wasting so much time on a sham trial. Shameful.

Sometimes we create our situations, sometimes we inherit them, and sometimes they are thrust upon us. Usually it is a mix of all three.
I like my situation, but I don't have 100% control.

no its not, its about mutual respect and showing care and responsibility. I thank good planning that my Thai/Brit child was educated in the west where this kind of irresponsible BS is not tolerated.
Obviously that is true. But your situation is not everyone's.

what an astonishing attitude.
If someone did that to my kid I would be in jail for assault. Actually, I'm not that short sighted, to put my kids through a dysfunctional Thai education system.
Yes and after your assault everyone would have learned their lesson and would be better off for it right?
It's just hair.
