At precisley 06:00 am, it started raining here in Jomtien (near Pattaya) after about 20 minutes of "rumbling-in-the-sky".

I have the answer: I would embark on an epic sailing-trip around the world and truly "see" everything there's to see all over this beautiful world of ours. I would make my yacht totally self-sufficient (Solar; Water; Electric Engine) and with 1,000 sets of sail-wardrobes, I bet you I could go a long way . . . . . . .
Now THAT would be a dream ! ! !

"The court has accepted Wanthongchai's petition..."
Can anyone recall where that was not the case, when a PAD-Dem guy comes running?
@Fryslan Boppe: You make a very valid point - seen this many times during my 22 year stint in this wonderful and sometimes 'wondrous' country . . . . . .
As we say in the ol' country: "It Is Mei Sizzen Net To Dwaen" . . . . . . . .

Langkawi would be a much better choice than anywhere in Thailand for long term mooring, for several reasons including crime and customs regulations.
Correct and you forgot to mention that the difference in mooring-fees is something like 60 to 75% ! ! (cheaper in Langkawi)

"The bonds would be sold to small investors, because it is believed a lot of people are interested in helping farmers, but large-scale investors or state enterprises are not perspective investors, he added."
Of course large-scale investors aren't prospective bond buyers. They didn't get rich by being stupid.
But can they raise enough from the small investor? 130 billion baht is a ton of money, and that's what they owe until the next rice crop comes in.
This does remind me of the "brilliant" scheme conjured-up by Taksin, when in 2007 he wanted to purchase Liverpool Football Club, by organizing a State Lottery in Thailand in order to raise the HUGE funds required for this purchase. This is no different ploy and I'll put money in the fact that this is a "brain-child' of the Dubai Overlord himself . . . . .
Of course: this will never happen, but the mere fact that they're trying-it-on, is already very disgusting, right ?

'existance' is certainly the right choice of word.
I prefer a 'life' myself, down here in glorious Pattaya.

Pattaya: where the sailing is great ! ! ! !

You obviously have no idea. Ill take a photo of the channel markers that lead out from the pier and show a clear and safe way to navigate away from the marina. Its pretty much due east, not due south where the boats have been hitting mooring buoys. Stevenl should be able to clear this up. Is there or is there not a clear Channel leading out from the pier?
And i am inclined to feel that there could be deeper water going through the channel, Ill just hazard a guess (pardon the pun)
IrishIvan: With regards to your numerous attempts at 'informing/educating' KarenBravo: we sailors have a saying which well describes this situation:
"You Can Lead A Horse To The Water, but You Can't Make Him Drink . . . ."
Just reading through the posts, it appears to me that KarenBravo has a particular concept in mind as to what a "Channel" is; namely a path through the old H2O which is significantly DEEPER that the rest of the area. This, of course, is a total misconception on his/her part, since a "Channel" in nautical-terms basically indicates "clear/safe-path-through-whatever-obstacles" in any locale.
Some people just like to argue for the sake of argumentation - I really admire the fact that you remain soooo calm.
Mate; next time you happen to be around Pattaya; just give's a buzz and I'll take ya' for a little sail, okay ?
Cheers !

This is not how the Bangkok police will do it: South Korean Riot Police Training
Thank you for sharing that; wauw: that is rather incredible alright ! ! ! Maybe the protesters should "work-it" like those extremely well trained Korean cops do and then the Thai' cops would be nowhere . . . . . . L.O.L.

Behind every smile is an angry Thai.
WHAT a stupid statement ! !
If you really believe that; why don't you haul your silly little, narrow-minded little ass back to wherever the heck you hailed from ? ? ? ?
[sorry Mod: I can't stand dumb generalizations !]

Yes; most definitely: I can confirm that there IS a substantial & noticeable increase of mosquitoes, since about a week or 2. We live just behind the Railway-Road, in behind Greenway Golf (across the Sukhumvit from Underwater World) and have been here about 5 years.
This cannot have anything to do with "the ending of the wet-season", because it hasn't rained for many weeks already.
It appears to have started right after the recent 'cold-snap' ended - very strange.
I have a sneaky suspicion "the man in Dubai" is behind this 'aerial-attack' . . . . . . 555 ! ! !

If I owned a restaurant in Thailand I would never even visit the place. Competition can report you on a whim.
Legally you can teach people how to do things but I would not bet on it.
I strongly suggest you open a 2 mil. Bt. Ltd. Co - and since you're legally married to a Thai, you need only 2 Thais to support your work-permit. That way, you can do anything in that restaurant and you will be totally safe from 'jealous' people around you.
Signs: can be in English, s long as you put the name of your place (in very small letters and in Thai') somewhere on the same sign, That way you only pay the minimum rate (if they ever come by to charge you at all !).
If you're going to sell any tye of alcoholic beverage (and that's where the money is !) make sure that you obtain the proper license (very cheap !) - same goes for any tobacco products.
NEVER play music from CD's in your place, because that can cost you a Bt. 20K fine ! - Better to have some cable-music going.
Last but not least: make sure your bathroom facillities are sparkling clean, with proper soap and material towel (replace a number of times per day !) - believe it or not, that's why people keep coming back too !

Not only should "Industry" be targeted, but what about the hundreds of hotels in places like Pattaya, Jomtien, etc. - I do bit of sailing around these coast-lines and I can assure you that I often find myself (literally) in a huge sewer ! ! !
Of course; the authorities know this and have known this for many years . . . . . . but, for some reason, all these big hotels simply keep disposing of their "you-now-what" into the gulf of Thailand.
When I first came here, 21 years ago, while sailing in front of Naklua, Pattaya & Jomtien - I would see millions of fish, squids etc. Now: 21 years later, I would have to venture some 6 kilometers off-shore, to spot some evidence of marine-life ! !
Oh and contrary to popular beliefs, it's not the "human-excrement" that is the worrying factor here, but the tons of chemicals (from WC-Paper; Soaps; Shampoos, Creme-Rinses, Toothpaste, Toilet-Cleaners, Laundry-Detergents, Restaurant Kitchen's by-products et al), which are pumped into the sea: E V E R Y D A Y & 24 hours a day.
Insane situation ! !

The enemy of my enemy...
Hoary handed men and women of toil they may be, stupid they are not.....
TVGerry: I have to agree with you: the average Thai' farmer is not stupid.
The difference between "stupid" on the one hand, - and "ignorant" on the other - is clearly axiomatic here !

The SOE, an act of parliament, trumps the Constitution?
Yes, Chalerm, they teach you well at that university of lower education, Ramkhamhaeng.
Well, Sir (with the in-pronounceable handle ?) Ramkhamhaeng is most certainly NOT "a University of lower education". You obviously have no clue as to what you're talking about.

Great idea, I think!
Once they're landlocked I wonder how they will get products, etc. delivered.
But they can try selling their rice 40% above market value. Any industry that produced would likely move to "South Thailand" (if there is North & South Thailand as the new states) where the minimum wage would probably be reversed to a level that reflects the actual qualification of workers.
Wonder how they will finance this new country then!
That's an easy one: SHIN-CASINOS INC. ! ! ! ! ! !

Great concept; there will be 2 nations:
1. Thailand (Land of Smiles)
2. Thaksinland (Land of endless Regrets)
and with a bit of imagination, we'll hand the Southern most 3 little states back to the Pattanians, which will instantly solve that bloody problem and then everyone can be live happily ever after . . . . . . . . .
Duuuuuh ! ! ! ! ! !

To be more constructive, are all shops like that, or should I just go buy everything in the shop?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you were Thai you would have had the delivery at the right time, Thai folk don't like us and don't wan't us here, I learnt that since joining ThaiVisa.
I never felt that way in the previous 20+ years of living here, but now I see the light, stick around, you'll learn too.
@10Yen: Thai folk don't like us and don't wan't us here,
What utter nonsense ! ! !
Perhaps "Thai' Folk" have a problem with your attitude towards them ? ? ?
Just tell us a little tid-bit: Did you get along with the "Folk' in your home country ? ? ?
I've been living/working in Thailand for over 20 years and I can honestly conclude that what you're saying is utter rubbish !

"Another farmer put his tractor up for sale yesterday....."
Okay, it's farm machinery, but you'd have thought he'd at least give it a bit of a clean if he was serious.....
Without wanting to belittle the farmers' plight, this is just staged sensational jounalism me thinks.
@LucidLucifer: [what a disgusting 'handle' to start with; unless you're attempting to play "Devil's Advocate ? ?]
Mate; it is obvious that you have never ventured into the "real" Thailand; because if you had, you would instantly recognize the absence of thick layers of dust & dirt on that tractor.
Maybe divert some of your 'beer-budget' on a bus-trip into the Isaan: a new world will open-up for you . . . . . . .

If you own a "smart-phone", why don;t you down-load a free App named "WindFinder" ? ?
Simply in-put any location in the world and all the info. you're after instantly appears on your little screen.

Hi; my wife started at Rung Rean Waht Poh; which is the school adjacent to the Temple (Waht-Po) on the corner of Naklua Rd. <> Soi 16, in Naklua.
This High-school has "Adult-Eductation-Classes" during the evenings, from 17:00 PM 'till 22:00 PM.
Perhaps she could go there and make some enquiries as they would relate to HER specific situation ?
Wish you & her luck & success.

The Director of the Phuket Marine Department, Puriphat Teerakulpisut was asked if he would be moving the block he said, “No way. It’s much too heavy.”
WTH; is this guy a mental retard, or what ? ! ? !
If MY boat was damaged by these 'haphazardly strewn mooring-blocks, my solicitors would have a field-day in court, suing this amateurish Phuket Marine Dept., something which I am sure Mr. Sando's Insurance Company will shortly engage in.
This is a scandalous situation and if these "authorities" would get off their corrupt little Montessori-Butts, this situation would soon be cleared; literally ! ! ! !

Legal system needs a revamp: NACC's Vicha
in Thailand News
Posted
Having lived in Thailand for 22 years and having had virtually continuous 'legal dealings' throughout that period, in addition to being married to a Thai' Lawyer; I believe that there's nothing "wrong" with the Legal System, apart from it being easily influenced by corrupt individuals/groups, which of course, is a major flaw. The laws of Thailand are probably as thorough and just as any 'developed nation', however; the BIG problem in Thailand is that nobody actually enforces them.
Then of course there's the rampant corruption, which wreaks havoc with the economy of Thailand, but that's a story for another day.
