  1. There is some great info in this thread, by a lot of car enthus..

Im looking to buy something a little special, but not sure what and do not have a budget for it.

Im guessing I would have a better chance buying something unique/special/luxury at an auction house.

Please let me know of any in Bangkok..

    thanks in advance.

  2. I once advertised for a web designer on this forum and was very badly let down. I payed the majority of the 60,000 baht deal and was so let down with the quality, I deleted the site and went to another company here in Phuket. My current site was built by Express Data and it only cost me 24,000 baht. It is so much superior in graphics and functionality and ofcourse less than half the price of the first one:annoyed:

The lady to deal with is Khun Jureerat who speaks very good English

express data (used to be Thaibiz.com) is http://www.expressdata.co.th

  3. I dont have to brag, I just tuck it into my sock :D

2000 dvds, all copies (from the master disk) and loving it. :D

What would happen if there was no pirated goods, ie. watches, hangbags clothes etc? more crime trying to keep up with the Jones'? 1000's out of work?

Im doing a grand service for my fellow man, they actually need the money to survive...........

    I feel like a saviour. :o:D

  4. I love Koh Yao Noi and Yai, you will be pleased you went.

Where to stay (Koh Yao Noi) - well if your looking for something cheapish, Sabai Corner, if your looking for something nice, Koh Yao Resort would be my picks.

An Italian lady (Sabai Corner - maybe a member here) owns it with her Thai husband and has reportedley been there for 20 years???? - very rustic, but very nice sleeping with the waves hitting the rocks. I think I paid 600 per night last year.

There is an assortment of differing prices and styles, from homestays to 5 star - turn up at the pier, jump in a tuk tuk and head for long beach (east coast) and you will pass by quite a few.

Koh Yao yai is also worth a look and you can stay at Chon Lat beach in a bungalow for about 400 baht per night (only one on that beach) and the food is great.

plenty of Thai guys to hire boats from (they accompany you), to snorkel/fish/tour etc.

If you leave from Baan Rong Pier in Ao Phor, you can get the local longtail ferry and pay only 50 baht.

You might not want to come back, let us know what you think.

  5. i doubt it can go well in the long run ..what does one sister think when he's sleeping with the other one the whole night? i mean, does she just lay in bed and wait until she falls asleep or..? just dont see it working that way. maybe in one bed it would be better for everybody but thats just my opinion. :o

The other one is in the kitchen preparing food and doing the dishes. :D

    :D not baaad for a kiwi :D

After seeing the pic, Im quite surprised how normal they look - I was expecting uncle fester and the fat sisters from Cinderella...... Kinda jealous. :D

  6. Double your pleasure

Wichai Hengjarernsook is in the junk business, and so not a man to overlook a bargain when he sees it. The 24-year-old native of Samut Sakhon’s Baan Paew District, where women are far-famed for beauty, couldn’t decide which of two identical twin sisters in his village he wanted to wed.

So, being an astute businessman, he popped the question to both at the same time, stating frankly that he wanted them in the plural. Much to his delight, they happily agreed.

After the announcement of the marriage, a wedding party was organized for the morning of March 23 to celebrate the nuptials of Wichai (whose full name means “Researching Improved Pleasure”) and his blushing brides, the Sirintara and Tipawan Puttanookulchai, both slender and fair-skinned beauties.

The party, held at the brides’ home in Village 1 of Tambon Lak Sam, was attended by many hundreds of relatives and friends, and broadcast around the nation on the morning news.

The bride price was reported as 80,000 baht and 120 grams of gold – times two.

The brides’ parents were reportedly ecstatic over their daughters’ match; “This is the happiest day of our lives,” they said. “We’re not upset in the least, because the twins grew up together and have never been apart.”

The groom said his many-splendored love was the natural result of proximity: “Our homes are quite close to each other,” he explained, “and every day in going to school I walked past their house. After they grew into women, I couldn’t make up my mind.

“I liked both, so I wooed both. Every time I asked one to go out, I asked the other along as well. If I bought something for one, I bought the same for her sister. Finally, after we had been seeing each other in this way for three years, I confessed to both I couldn’t decide between the two.

“I want to marry both of you,” the handsome Wichai told them. “Will you have me?”

Without the slightest hesitation, both replied in the affirmative. Having received the double thumbs-up from the prospective brides, K. Wichai asked a respected elder to approach the parents and formally request their daughters’ hands. They readily agreed – and now the best is yet to come.

Will the trio live happily ever? It has been observed that women are notoriously catty when forced to share the same man – to say nothing of sharing the same house and the same bed. But faint heart never fair lovers won: the happy groom is thus optimistic, as are his brides, who vowed not to let jealousy come between them.

“My sister and I grew up together and have never been apart. Now we never shall be,” said Sirintara, elder of the two beauties by a matter of minutes. “We’ll dedicate ourselves to looking after our husband, to ensure a happy family, and we’ll never let envy or jealousy enter the picture.”

“I’ve prepared the house,” said Wichai. “Each has her own room; they’ll decide between themselves which goes to whom. As to how I divide my time, I don’t expect any problem. During the week, I’ll sleep with each on alternating nights,” he said, turning to give each a big mushy kiss, to show how much he loved them.

Wichai denied newspaper reports that on the seventh night the trio would consummate their passion as an ensemble – thus ending speculation that the marriage would bring to reality the common male fantasy of having a three-way with a pair of gorgeous identical twins.

The total bride price of 360,000 baht is not unusual as bride-price for a single virgin, but it is a bargain for two.

Said Tipawan as she stood, decked out in her gleaming new gold: “Now we’re married we’ll help our husband in the junk recycling factory. He’s a good man – doesn’t drink, smoke or run around with girls; and what’s most important, now my sister and I will never be apart. That’s why we married him.”

  7. Tornado, when did you buy the land? Last year? Did it have anything agricultural already growing on it or was the land forest or open fields? I'm curious because I suspect that land is cheaper when there is nothing growing on it that can be immediately cultivated. I have heard of many southern thais converting rice fields into rubber or palm farms. Is this what you are doing?

Yes Donx, I bought just land, although some of it is rice fields, the majority was grazing land (open fields) and there was a few rai of prawn farms - a mixed bag really.

  8. Hi everyone,

My Thai wife, myself and our kids are looking at moving back to Nakhon Si Thammarat after living in Australia for the last 15 years. Can anyone tell me if they are currently farming rubber or palm oil and do they think it is worth while doing?

I am new to this forum so am sorry if this question has been asked before.

    thanks

Im moving to Nakhon next week to live for a year or so. I have planted palm trees on my 130 Rai as I think it will be a very valuable fuel source in the years to come. Since I planted the trees, we had severe flooding and they have come through with flying colours.

I paid 20 k per Rai for my farm, so at least that will go you a measuring stick on the area prices.

I have not read through the thread, so Im not sure if you have stated where you are moving to - please let me know as we might be able to get together for a chat.

I hope it all works out well for you. :o

  9. Her name is Bullshit

Which is mostly what comes out of your mouth.. :D

    totster :D

But you never heard me talk before :D

    figuratively speaking... of course.. :o

    totster :D

ps.. Hi Torny.. nice to see ya again !

thank you kind sir. Im not back for long though as Im moving to the boonies (not with Boon Mee), so unsure when I can get a sat hook up. Im here all week.

Phuket is getting a tad to full for this little tornado.

  10. I dont need help, I say it as I see it, the prick wanted to provoke a reaction and he got it. If your going to have a discussion with me, then fine, if you want to flame me, be ready.

I'm not flaming you....just saying the obvioius. Seems like you want to shoot the messenger....your anger gets out of control really easily....have you had a physical altercation with anyone in the last year?

No, I havent actually, but many in my day. I dont have them now as I dont hang around idiots or be near any. Save your couch for someone who cares.

  11. Pudgimelon,

You do appear to be overly concerned with status even though you are doing your best to deny it.  Also you seem to be concerned that people are not becoming people of "consequence" when they arrive in Thailand....this is almost the same as status....just a slightly different twist.  Thinking that farangs could change the destiny of Thailand also is just another shade of status.

In regards to becoming a person of "consequence"....the actions needed to become a person of consequence are pretty much the same thing everywhere in the world.  Coming to Thailand is no more an opportunity to achieve this "goal" than living anywhere else....Thailand is not a land of golden opportunity....you don't get a new life when you arrive here...and most importantly you do not shed your old self the moment you arrive either.

I think you are wrong on both points - here you can make your life how you want it to be. There is so much opportuntiy here. More opportunites have come my way here in 8ish years than in my whole life back home.

  12. I agree with what the OP has written in nearly all points. The points I dont agree with, dont really matter as that is his own beliefs.

There are great opportunties in this country, positions that would never be attainable in our home countries. It doesnt have to be a position of power, just some great standing amongst a community who does not know your background or education.

My own story is a little long, so I will leave it out. I will say though, that you should really think about what was written in the first post as it quite factual and thought provoking.

edit - I will say though, if bar girls, late nights, hangovers daily, wearing no shirts going into government buildings, using bad Thai language and being a holiday maker for the rest of your life suits you, well thats fine to. Each to their own.

For the others, put on a shirt, mix in good circles, date some class and have a plan, you will go further here, than you ever could at home.

  13. good points LivinLos - I have no answers, it looks like the usual, come up with a "plan" and then after it has been set in motion, think about the consequences..

The flower seller's for instance - sad case they are on the street in the first place and like many of us, I never buy flowers as it adds to the ugly, but I do buy them a coke or food, once Ive turned them down on a flower... Is GI Joe gonna jump out from behind the bar and mase me?

who has trained these guys? when did this secret gathering take place? do they actually speak the language?

Why on earth didnt they allow some of the expat bar owners to be the eyes for them? Before anyway suggest that they are also pedos, I can guarantee many of them before I could guarantee a no name newbie on a mission.

    who knows? TIT.

  14. Good idea for a thread Jock.

Although plans do change, I am "retiring" in April and that process has already started. I am not sure what the next stage is though, could be t build a house on some land I have in Tasmania, go and live in Nakhon Sri Thammarat (but what would I do all day??), stay in Phuket or travel a while. Not sure, but feeling good about the first plan of finishing business in April, the same ole same ole is no longer creative and a new challenge/life is what I am looking for - but with not to much work involved.

TORNY.......... you have a couple of TV Dragon Fire Gals willing to- possibly- hear your "retirement" plans. How interesting are they? Do they expand the mind ??????? :o

Im thinking of having a John and Yoko esq "bed in" over the April month to contemplate the future - A couple of fire dragons might do the trick. :D
