  1. I have no recollection of a reduction in fees... I recall some years ago a substantial rise in baht terms. I stopped going to them, I thought the charges were too high. I think you talk of a corresponding increase for Thais which affected the relation between Thai and foreign prices from 10x to 5x. That is not in reality a reduction in cost, just a reduction of the foreigner padding factor. Disingenuous to even try to present it as such!
  2. Wasn't the Non-Imm-O Multiple then cancelled or could not be issued nearby....? I certainly recall a lot of complaints from guys in your shoes (and those working offshore but living here) when it was. It might be a while, as they want to see a post Covid recovery, but before Covid, I would say they were making things harder for younger people to live here. Certainty not a climate of 'easing' this thread is about.
  3. My Mrs just gifted me one which is a good size, it would have been impolite to ask how much it was. My 3rd this season.. I am doing well.
  4. Cheaper durian for the China market?
  5. I am perplexed if they are coming to Thailand simply for cannabis!
  6. I always think back to some hung over guy going into a 7-11 in the morning and getting the beep from the temperature sensor, the young girl simply asked him to do it again as he had rushed it and he started a tirade on this hapless girl about how it was all BS. This was when a lot of people were dying and in fear of Covid. Most folks have behaved poorly during this pandemic.
  7. How is not changing something an over-reaction.? I grew up with 'time gentlemen please'.... perhaps did not grow up enough, and need to be patted on the bottom and sent home!
  8. Fine you making the argument, but it is Thailand's immigration who actually make that determination. They have the yeah or nay say at the airport or land border, The visa exempt and TV entries are for tourists, and certainly not for those living most of the year in Thailand. The old adage was 'get a correct visa type'... and pre Covid, people were being turned away for overuse of tourist entries..... That situation can return....
  9. You are using diversion. They will likely only care how much they have to pay, not what it is relative to foreigners. Probably quite happy it is all so cheap for them.
  10. No, it is probably unrelated. People are not wearing masks much outside in the Pattaya area... most folks have more to worry about in their lives than this. It will be rescinded soon I expect, then you can come out from under the bed.
  11. Not required, a new entry resets the 90 day clock.
  12. I would prefer cash...... Would you take payment in old nuts and bolts?
  13. Like any other country, election promises vanish when the election is done and dusted.
  14. I don't think it is there anyhow.....
  15. You may well be one of the first..... But I expect as it is the first Exempt entry for a long time, you should have no problems providing you meet the Thailand Pass requirements... then get it converted to an O Entry.
  16. I do not class them as tourists.... if a person leaves and re-enters Thailand regularly they may need never do a 90 day report. I suspect the need to see a stamped TM6 would have to be removed from extension requirements.
  17. Some banks do, others may require you to have a work permit. I have such a deposit and often wonder when, if ever, I can get that money back. Probably have to hand back the card.
  18. Tourists don't need to do them and this impacts those mostly.
  19. Surprised to read that as generally I thought the take up of the STV had been very low. Similarly the O-X. The addition of an insurance obligation to O-A and extensions thereof did that no favours....The even newer, long term ones (LTR?) have very restrictive lock up or invest your money rules which surely will make them unattractive. During Covid they tried everything to get a few tourists here, while actually scaring them off with threats of expensive quarantine. They need to eliminate the plethora of restrictive options and come up with a simpler approach. (Then I can sell my house to some hapless foreigner and move on!)
  20. I saw 13 week mentioned on a news report recently.
  21. So they will have no knowledge or information as to where a tourist may be living other than TM30 registration?
  22. It all seems to be rushing along very fast picking up speed..... The hype simply on this forum surprises me with multiple threads on the topic. What is all the fuss about...... the older generation have been chewing on betel for many years and being a bit spaced out!
  23. Who knows.... these marathon runners are perhaps made of sterner stuff than most mask wingers here!
