  1. Personally, I'd rather have a 500cc or 250cc two stroke, instead of a " heavy " 1 litre 4-stroke. Powerbands of the 2 stroke is also way more agressive. But it's what you are looking for. The 250cc bike I posted above, is very light and powerfull, which gives you the great handling you asked for, as you said, didn't like the heavy weight in corners of the big bikes. Second question is: are these even availbe in thailand? I guess not, but I guess two strokes are. If you hate maintenance, don't buy a two stroke.

  2. Go 2-stroke: Light and maximum performance.

It's the closest thing you'll find to a genuine Grand Prix racing machine on the road, be it two wheels or four. Its 250cc two-stroke motor produces in excess of 60 brake horses, giving it a specific output of 240 bhp per litre - more than the fastest MotoGP bikes and on a par with competitive Formula One engines. And it's the last one - the fire-breathing two-stroke racer-roadster is about to become extinct. The next batch of Aprilia RS250 road bikes will be the last - as the last bike of its type. Standard top speed of 220 km/h.

  3. "LPG / CNG is for cooking, not in engines"

Perhaps you should share your wisdom with Toyota, GM and Tata as they seem to disagree.

    Cheers

Back here in Europe LPG / CNG is not much populair, the same goes for the bio fuels mixed with ethanol. But in Asia I can understand, because of the extreme pollution. LPG/CNG burns much cleaner, which is good for the enviroment.

LPG was never populair here, because of the high taxes for a LPG registered car, unlike in Asia. Although LPG costs less than petrol, it was never promoted. The trend here seems to be hybrid ( petrol/electric ). And in Asia it's LPG/CNG and Bio fuels.

Anyhow mostly all taxis etc in Thailand drive on LPG. I once asks a few taxi drivers why LPG and not petrol? Their answer: cheaper . Cheap !

  4. LPG / CNG is for cooking, not in engines.. I always say. I've opened up various engines in my garage which ran on LPG, it doesn't look nice at all inside. Petrol is better, since it has a cooling effect also, when it burns. And when you over-rev the engine ( only with ecu controlled engines ), the ecu cuts of the ignition, and petrol keeps flowing, to cool the pistons. With LPG you don't have this... as it keeps burning hot.

  5. It's phsycological... Think of this will help avoid jet lag: We'r on the same planet, time is manmade, it's always the same time. Time is made because of the earth's rotation around the sun, which gives us day and night. The sun never stops shining! If we would have no time, you just would know day and night.

Just make sure you drink enough water.

You are a bit mistaken... It's the earths rotation on it's axis, one rotation every 24 hours, that gives us day and night. The earth's rotation around the sun takes one year.

Jet lag, medically referred to as "desynchronosis," is a physiological condition which is a consequence of alterations to circadian rhythms; it is classified as one of the circadian rhythm sleep disorders. Jet lag results from rapid long-distance transmeridian (east-west or west-east) travel, as on a jet plane. The condition of jet lag may last many days, and recovery rates of 1 day per eastward time zone or 1 day per 1.5 westward time zones are mentioned as fair guidelines. Source Wikipedia

Yes I knew that, but I wanted to put it simple here, without going to much physics.

  7. Hmm ok. Divorce rates in the West (where the age gap is not so wide I imagine) are much better than with the demographic you are sick of reading about?

Suggestion: Stop reading about something that is really none of your business. laugh.gif

I thought some of these guys would have learned something after going through a nasty divorce in the west but I guess not. They always manage to find a partner that is just young enough to screw them over again.

When I am in Thailand, allot of the Thai Farang couples I see are usually not that ridiculously far in age so I am not sure why I am taking all this heat.

It is everyone's business because these guys make Thailand and Thai girls look worse then they are.

Goes back to my earlier point though, time to start stop worrying about what others think. Stereotyping is the weakness of the ignorant.

Let's compare: Lil old me 43 (shhh) with my 26 year old wife and our awesome 14 month old son walking around Bangkok, going to play groups, or to the beach or Former Ms World Natalie and her Tennis Pro hubby in every rumor /gossip page in the country about potential infidelity.

I am not sure what = what in terms of ideal (prototype) relationship, their relationship or ours. Please send me the manual so I can study up for my next life.

If her being a loving, educated mom that cares more for us than herself, then perhaps its time the country take another look at the types of role models they want. In the meantime, it's 43 love in the final set, and I am up two match points.

You realize that you when you are 65 your wife is still 49 ? It's up to everybody of their own offcourse, and you seem happy. But what happens then is that at 65 you don't have much energy left in the body, and the wife is still full of energy, in both fysical and mental needs. I've seen it happening in both Thailand as in the West ( farang / farang ).

  8. There are enough guys that rent their wives, and pay monthly installments for them. So its not a crazy thing to think. However there are enough guys who don't "buy" their wives too. If someone suggested i bought mine id be insulted. I would not go into it with total strangers and would not care about it.

However if friends were thinking something like that id have a conversation with them and they could end up without my friendship. My first wife was a real looker and she lived with me in Holland. I got some bad remarks about her (they turned out to be true). So if they are saying your wife is bad it might just be that she is bad and your too blind to see it. I was blind at first and now i see things differently. It was a good lesson.

Well yeah your right! But also.. v

The problem is jalousy and stereotyping in " the west ". Everybody knows the story of happy times in Thailand with their GF/Wife and when they bring her to " the west " , everything changes... ( I do know couples that worked out well !! )

  9. My only problem is I still have another bloody 17 years until I retire and I cannot wait to settle over there.

Who knows what it will be in 17 years from now :) , before i retire it's 40 years lol, robot s walking in thailand?:D

  10. It's just the burning oil that gives the 2 stroke smell. Anyhow for instance a 747-400 plane cruising at 576 mph (927 km/h), burns 12788 liters (3378 US gallons) of fuel per hour !! You know how many planes fly daily? Blaming the two strokes again? :)

@ TS: One time only doesn't matter much.

  11. This problem is done to death every year accompanied by lots of "Yak , Yak , Yakity Yak Yak " but little positive action takes place , a system of water diversion channels need to be put into the sytem with varying height and grade systems , locks and pumpimg stations as in european canal systems . Resevoirs are too reliant on physical rainfall , water needs to be moved from the 'Too much ' areas to the 'Too little ' areas , instead , the aquafine areas are being bled to death as in some parts of India , look at the huge problem that already exists there .

Oh , I forgot , TiT , don't fix it 'til it's completely broke . Just keep on with the brainstorming , any 'Brains ' available out there ???

Well yes, we Dutch know all about water management, but Thailand would never hire Dutch, it's not cheap and like you say TiT.

Bangkok is sinking away to.. could take another 20 years though.

  12. Back here in Euroland in the late 90's everybody had top loaders, but later everybody switched to front loaders. Why? The just wash better and use less water. It's not a Euro thing, it's a time difference thing. Thailand is just back in time.

And bending over? I mean, common even my granny can grab it out.

I didn't say i couldn't bend over but its much faster and easier to take the clothes from the top and hang them up on the line to dry. With a front loader you would have to put all the clothes in a basket first. Otherwise i would be dropping them on floor. Just seems like extra work plus more expensive.

Mostly the dryer is on top of the front loader, so you can easily pick it out and put in there, you can do one by one or two, I mean picking it empty, how much does it take, 1 minute? :) In LOS there's plenty of time..

  13. The Tak Bai incident is an event that occurred on October 25, 2004 in Tak Bai, Thailand, which resulted in at least 85 deaths.

Six local men were arrested. A demonstration was organized to demand their release and the police called in army reinforcements. After some demonstrators threw rocks and attempted to storm the police station, security forces used tear gas and gunfire in response.

Where you guys see 3000 deaths?

We were lucky, we didn't SEE it.

Depending on what sources you use you can get to

    - 2500+ drugwar deaths

    - 85 Tak Bai

    - 32+ Krue Sae

Sad, but true and mostly ignored is that down south people are killed on a daily base. Some by terrorists, some by police/army. Try this as a starting point and venture from there

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Thailand_insurgency

Okay, but it's a bit confusing? When I read for instance on Wiki , stating: Police Commander Sant Sarutanond reopened investigations into the deaths, and again claimed that few of the deaths were at the hands of the police.

So this would have made the " Thai Army " done the killings.

But then a bit later I read: After the 2006 coup, the military junta ordered another investigation into the anti-drug campaign. The committee concluded that as many as 1400 of the 2500 killed had no link to drugs.

So basically I'm reading: Army investigates itself... " Amazing Thailand " ?
