  1. [The hospital, if I'm not incorrect, is in Chatuchak, though there are two faculties.

    I have a phone number:

    0-2942-8756-9

yeah, at Chatuchak as per address. it is actually further up at Bangkhen, in the main campus.

    public service clinic hours :

    Mon - Thu

clinic 08.30h to 15.30h, queue ticket from 07.00h

    Fri & public holiday

clinc 08.30h to 11.00h, queue ticket from 07.00h

    daily

clinc 18.00h to 20.00h, queue ticket from 17.30h

call them at +66 2942 8756-9 and confirm the clinic hour. we went there the first time they closed for some functions. in the first visit, you may meet the young vet / or intern vet for general diagnostic. but try to ask for transferring to CAT CLINIC there. also, some lab diagnotic may take some days, the 2nd visit should be at cat clinic. I may have the names of the ajarns there, let me check and return.

website in Thai, hope someone could read

    http://hospital.vet.ku.ac.th/

my opinion, go as soon. mis-dignostic may delay the proper treatment.

  2. Tom likes milk, so he gets a little milk so he gets a small amount once a week. I'll get him weighed and keep an eye on his weight and activity level. Maybe a little less worrying and a little more enjoying him will be better for all concerned!

great, feed him cat milk for the day and then one dry or wet food for the dinner. good cat milk carries enough nutrition already.

don't worry, a typical symptom from an outdoor cat to an indoor cat - lack of exercise.

  3. I am sorry to hear the sickness with your cat.

with an ambiguous situation as such, I suggest you should bring your cat as soon to the Kasetsart University Verternary Training Hospital - they have a specialised CAT CLINIC.

the first visit, you meet the young vet / intern for general diagnostic. then you ask to transfer the case to the CAT CLINIC at 3rd floor. the cat clinic is led by a senior ajarn with a team of experience vets. it is something like ICU for cats :-(

go there in early morning, from queue to vet may take 2 hours on a busy day.

    all the best !

  4. quoted

tourism had been currently a major source of income generating 585 billion baht to the country last year, or 7% of the GDP. In 2010 up to 15.8 million foreign tourists visited Thailand despite the political crisis.

    end quoted

then, what is the opportunity lost in 2010 ? how many million tourists not coming ?

    hmm . . . not a complete story :-)

    cheers

  5. ha ha ha . . . interesting issues !

any privacy law in Thailand, or just no one follows it ? I bought an inkject printer in IT Mall and they requested a copy of my passport. yeah, personal information in banks, universities, shopping menbership are all 100%OPENED !

also in Thailand, the telecom services are billed on BOTH SIDES - sender and receiver, on voice and sms and mms. I installed an application on my Nokia to 'scan' ( in fact it hides ) the spam sms, but the bill of sms are the same ! yeah, you get the comfort of no spam, you pay the same bill !

talk to the service provider, yes you could eliminate some sms from the provider only. indeed, they couldn't filter others.

  6. hi there

just a bit information here. TOT is the infrastructure network provider, meaning they own the cables ( hanging in the air ). TRUE could lease % of these infrastructure, then TRUE could provide limited services in the TOT territory. call TRUE with exact address and they would confirm.

I am in the north of Bangkok. 6 months before we moved in, we 'booked' a TRUE landline and internet services, since the quota runs out fast. very inflexibility.

thought, the TRUE internet services not always as stable as smooth everywhere ! highly depends on your connection point to their switching ( via TOT cables or True cables ) and type of switching equipments they installed ( from very new to very old ).

start a basic 6mb service plan and if alright then upgrade to 8mb. they do offer 8mb service in the area that only a 6mb switching installed :-)

  7. hello Damaz

if you still need 100% portability of your Alienware laptop, then really go back to Dell. parts replacement in Pantip 'may' not able to match with your Alienware. hope your maintenance not expired.

if your Alienware is always on the desk, then go for a new external LCD monitor. it is far cheaper than the Alienware replacement, and you could enjoy a bigger and higher resolution LCD display !

  8. get fuuuuull load before you come to Thailand !

my experience, brand packaged laptops and desktops are slightly more expensive in Thailand, and they are just 6 months to a year behind. BUT, computer accessories are selling like a gold here ! you may pay almost double for a decent mouse or branded storage devices.

yeah, check out some online IT shops in Thailand, then you may have better idea !

  9. hello billd

so sweet to bring the cats with you ! cats will be more happy with people. did remind my scarey experience when I moved my cat. share with you some tricks.

first, move them all at the same time in boxes or covered cages. not sure yours are indoor cats or outdoor cats, yet locate them altogether in a lockable room. a week or more they start to get used ( or to survive ) in the new home. then bring them to experience your place, step by step. they will try to hide away, put some old towels, paper boxes and cat toys and they manage themselves. ( I did wrong here and I let my cat explored too fast, he scared off. )

probably you need a lot of time in the first week, or even first month, more than that you drive 2km and feed them :-) keep on feeding them with the same food, the same way you approach them, until they are very familiar with you. keep this responsibility with you, perhaps your wife plays another role - play and comfort them. switching roles suddenly may confuse them.

my cat is an outdoor cat ( with no boundary ) and today confronts with all environmental hazards and stray cats around ( with all kinds of deases ). train them as indoor cats as possible, good safety for the cats.

hope these help, have a nice moving day !

  10. hi blyish

thanks ! and a very good news here - our cat is actually free from FeLV !

we bought our cat to Kasetsart Vet Teaching Hospital and they did a virus isolation test, negative ! the DVM explained possibly a testing error from the first vet, who use the ELISA test kit !

for you information, a very good ( and very senior ) DVM at the cat clinic at Kaset hospital. she manages a lot of critical cases there ( touch wood something we all don't expect it happens to our our cats ). yet, you need at lot of time and patient there !

    thanks again

    cheers

  11. How does the government start reconciliation when the red shirts deny all wrong doing?

They deny that any of them were violent or armed and they deny that they burned buildings. Yet, there is clear evidence of all of these.

Until the red shirts admit that some of their group are criminals, the general red shirt populace will continue as if they did nothing wrong and will only see the government as killers.

The only thing that the government could have done to stop any deaths from occuring was to step down, and this would have gone against all democratic principles that the red shirts said they were supposedly fighting for. Minority violent mobs should not be able to force a legitimate government to step down. The fact that the red shirts were unable to accept this puts responsibility for the deaths and injuries on their heads.

IMO, the government should call elections early next year, but only if the red shirts can show some semblance of control over the next year.

You don't need their admission of guilt. Instead put them on trial and if they want to keep denying responsibility from a prison cell they are welcome to do it. Political discussion is fine, but those who incite violence and arson should be arrested and put on trial before it gets to the same point it did last time. Reds need to stop hatin, and start participatin. Come up with a clear election platform and reject violence as a means to seize power.

try to put it into the reds supporter perspective ( and I am not ). from their one-sided 'emotional' propaganda, all reds beleive that the red leaders are right and the government is wrong, no matter how government propaganda clarified. yet, reds are not intelligently identify the fine line between the political discussion, the violent riot and arson. putting the red leaders in the cells certainly trigger another level of extremism.

the next election will the critical tipping point for Thai political development, hope it is a forward development. IMO if not this November, then should be earliest possible !

  12. fully agree your points.

yet it is just the day 2 of this 'about-to-matured' terrorist charge ! first, it takes time for international recognition and alignment. second, there are certainly counter forces from Mr T's legal idi_ts.

    today, Phichit Chuenban, in Thialnd

very soon, Robert Amsterdam, on international stage

there still development until this becomes a solid charge and 'actionable' from most countries !

I think we need to look at the difference of an "accused terrorist" and a "convicted terrorist". Barely any country in the world will take an extradition request serious unless the person has been convicted.

exactly the point ! at this moment of time, it is just a WARRANT to hunt this terrorist ! yet this warrant can only constrain Mr T's freedom of move, not else yet.

hold the champagne for a while, keep it chill !

  13. He is charged with terrorism.

And he is charged with it partly for video link speachs he made publicly to several rallies.

But the important point is he ALSO did this from at least Dubai and likely other countries.

Did he make contact from France and Montenegro via tweets and international communications channels?

    Yes.

Can't imagine France was happy with him contacting his bully boys while they caused a riot

and burned the city... Telecom records will tel the tale.

In other words he HAS used other countries as a base to create,

aide and abet a terrorist enterprise from outside the country.

And not just for things done/said during the Emergency Law being in effect,

the whole set up of the 'enterprise' would be considered.

This is an international incident, not just an internal Thailand legal incident.

So maybe it is not possible to extradite him in say 5-10 years,

he will be severely limited in his movements, and business opportunities,

because he is KNOWN AS A WANTED TERRORIST.

If he steps foot in a compliant country wanting to be seen doing the right thing,

then he could find a long sojourn in a cell or limited movement, controlled

and monitored housing situation, awaiting extradition

And what nations except for a few rogues,

want to be KNOWN by other nations for freely

HARBORING a KNOWN and WANTED TERRORIST?

    fully agree your points.

yet it is just the day 2 of this 'about-to-matured' terrorist charge ! first, it takes time for international recognition and alignment. second, there are certainly counter forces from Mr T's legal idi_ts.

  14. The rich Thai Chinese have won this battle. But I suppose the war is not over. The poor Thai will stage a come back. Not sure when.

IF I put a red saying here, then I rather say this is a 'class conflict'.

perhaps elements are similar, but will be completely different consequences if it is between different ethics groups.

    full stop, please !

  15. Was on the Thai Tele 5 oclock news that France has told him "please dont come back"

that is a little different version than that in my post #81. Mr T said 'he would come back'.

now, we see that England, Germany and then France, are setting up the 'not welcome' sign ! we need some more !

wonder, what would be the sign at Suvarnabhumi : 'welcome with jail terms', or 'not welcome' :-)

  16. I didn't read all the thread, but I think that the charge of terrorism in Thailand carries the death penalty (not mandatory).

Nevertheless, no EU country will deport a person to a country where the death penalty could be imposed.

In the case of Saxena, he was deported and his charges did not carry the death penalty.

If the Thai government really wants to get Thaksin returned, it might have better success if it changes the charge to one that does not carry the death penalty.

    Simon

ha ha ha . . . that perhaps the point ! anyone want him back ?

the terrorist warrant already good enough for some more countries setting up the 'no welcome' sign for him. no more shopping in Paris.

what next, nail him down . . .

  17. FUGITIVE EX-PM

I would not come back to France : Thaksin

France said on Tuesday it had urged ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to cancel a speech in Paris on the Thai political crisis, but the event's organisers insisted it would go ahead.

'Thaksin Shinawatra assured us he would do what was asked,' foreign ministry spokesman Bernard Valero told reporters, referring to French officials' demands last week that he should not speak in Paris on May 31 as planned.

Straits Times newspaper quoted Valero as telling journalists that the event, organised by a little-known think tank called the Centre of Political and Foreign Affairs, 'was no longer planned' and Thaksin 'told us he would not come back' to France.

France had earlier asked Thaksin to refrain from speaking in public during his private visit to France because of the tense situation in Thailand, where political instability has boiled over into deadly street violence.

A Thai court on Tuesday issued a warrant for Thaksin's arrest on terrorism charges, which carry a maximum penalty of death, over accusations that he has been bankrolling the protests and inciting unrest from overseas.
