  1. Covards. Proves they are terrorist.

Used to symphatize with the red movements but all that is now gone.

I sincerely hope that all foreigners and thais take all this in consideration and do NOT vote for the reds in next election. That would be a clear signal.

Foreigners cannot vote. All we can do is sit back and bitch.

Well, we can cut investments into this country.

    Why bother

  2. Outbound travellers need to show travelling document

Foreigners and local residents who have to catch international flights can proceed to the airport even after 8pm, when the curfew is imposed.

Acting government spokesman Panithan Wattanayakorn announced on TV that they need to show officers the travelling document - passports and tickets.

Also a MCOT thing on Cerfew only mentioned Bangkok, cant do a link for some reason, post #168 on page 7 on Live update Wednesday in TV news

  3. Just so I can put a name that I read here to the faces I see on TV and in pics, I understand there are Red shirt leaders left at the Rally puling the strings for the black shirt killing squads and blocking the city and holding innocent people hostage, (not including the master), is the picture in post one of this thread the 4 remaining red leaders? Can someone lable them please for me left to right with their names?

    Thanks

  4. In the same area, USA made meds are at least 20% cheaper than everywhere else around there, speak English and always have in stock.

It is on the Even Soi side, walk down Suk past the Landmark, cross Soi 4 and past MacDonalds, pretty much next to Bullys pub, there are 2 next door. The big one furthermost form Soi 4 is much cheaper. The fat lady in there knows a lot and didn't have the attitude close enough is good enough which is good.

They also have the BodyGuard western size condoms (54 / 56mm) 150b a box of 12 instead of those strangling 49mm Thai condoms.

  5. Does anybody of a link?

Can't help but feel sad that in the next 24hrsif no breakthrough, alot of people will have seen their last sunset tonight. Lets just hope not.

Thai TV now showing red shirt who shot soldier after other reds pulled from truck

I watched this video, it is revolting!

The soldier pulled from the truck was unarmed, removed his hat, waied everyone before being beaten and shot!!!

    Explain that, Lilkitty!

  6. The misses want to go on a visa run and maybe do an overnight trip. I puled the good advice below off TV but it is more than 3 years old. I know that Laos PDR has some system of no passport needed with the Thai ID card for 3 days. Just hopping. Anyone know the latest?

    People are getting confused here.

For a bog standard trip to Cambodia, you'll need a passport and also purchase a visa on arrival.

If you are going to the border to use the casino's etc, Thai's can get away with crossing over for the day with no visa formalities, but they can't go any further.

Unlike going to Laos, most Thai's can't get a border pass to visit Cambodia. these are only specially available to Thai's with a house registration in a province which borders Cambodia.

In summary, you'll need a passport and visa if you are Thai and going for a regular holiday.

  7. Just found this thread. There have been many indicate that the immigration police would be all over this guy. But TIT. I think it is a bit silly being up on a red stage, but what ever takes your fancy I spose. His own beliefs is his own reality, so not up to me to say he is wrong for sprouting off and being very colorful on his life events. Up to him I say. But at the same time, he must be responsible for any action that comes his way, be it a stray bullet at worse or deportation and not be screaming for help from Kevin Rudd. It is just a life decision in a colorful life. next.......

I think bigger problems in BK for all. Anyone know if anything happened? Must be easy tea money for someone. When I Goggled his name with that "other" newspaper name, the red and the yellow pic look similar, but hard for my eye to tell if the same guy. Who knows !!!!

  8. 3.6T

Can anyone remember back to confirm this, not that I really care to much, just wondering if it is another mistake by The Nation.

Even 126kg is huge in my opinion.

You just wonder how many of the 3.6T shipment get through. Many must when you look at the number of addicts doing crimes like break and enters and stealing my stuff to buy their next sniff.

    Mind boggles.

  9. Emm, Can not edit this site by the looks of it. "but I really see someone who can drink Chang knock Leo so heavily," = rarely

"For some people living in Thailand, beer has got cheaper, there again, they are silly if not hedged to avoid the unfortunate pitfalls you are suffering," inferring if the exchange rates goes against them in the future. Eg, Australians, Canadians, living out of the inflation rat race in Thailand, the exchange rate has gained more than the price of beer has risen in mom and pop shops & 711.

  10. Beer Leo? I can drink urine free!

you can still buy Chang Classic or Chang Draft for 40Baht a 640ml bottle here!

but if you put into context with the strong Baht and the falling pound, beer is no longer cheap - a year or so ago, you could get 65 baht to the pound, and three bottles of Chang for 100 Baht, now the pound is 50 ish, and a single bottle is 40 Baht...same with fuel and everything else, this place is not as cheap as it was....

Probably get the usual response from the usual <deleted>, "fuc_k off to the Philippines"or whatever, but what the hel_l..your original post is correct.

    Inflation here has gone crazy!

I don not have a big problem with Chang, I can drink it, but I really see someone who can drink Chang knock Leo so heavily, normally the other way around, but personal taste, you are always correct and the fact is, what you like and buy makes you right, the person selling doesn't give a crap.

Yes, you are correct, this place is not cheap anymore, Out of Bangkok, Farlang orientated areas and the center of Thai industrial heartland Inflation has not gone crazy. In the 3 areas I mentioned, my goodness, yes it has gone nuts. In those areas, there are other serous options of other countries to move to if cost is destroying you. For you personally, 65b to 40b is a major difference, but you live in Thailand, it is not the Thai fault that you decided to invest in a bankrupt currency that is not a reserve currency. Investing in a way like you did, it is very easy to hedge you exposure to a Pound falling apart. Not you are stupid at all, there are ways to cover your ass, to at least hold the exchange rate to within 1%. For some people living in Thailand, beer has got cheaper, there again, they are silly if not hedged to avoid the unfortunate pitfalls you are suffering, It is just part of expat living and international trade.

I heard that Hanoi have 12 cents glasses, on pubs that pop up on street corners. I can not confirm.

In Bangkok, The Western Hotel, near Soi 8 is expensive, but the Huntsman English bar downstairs, (my opinion boring bar) 2 for 1 till 9pm, and out side on the terrace till midnight.

  11. Generic Medicines in Thai Gov Hospitals

I have a step daughter fighting cancer in what I would call pretty well equipped Gov Hospital. What concerns me seems to be the observed son survival rate. Some of the specialist I do have confidence, seeing they are cancer specialist, but I really wonder if their hands are tied that they can only work with what is available. I have been told, due to cost restraints that generic drugs are used, I have absolutely no problem with that one little bit, but it concerns me that very possibly more modern and successful drugs that are still under patient are not available to the treating doctors.

For example, I have read recently that Pfizer Lipitor which is coming off a 20 year license mid 2011 is the most popular prescribed drug in the world that is not generic yet. No pharmacy around here nor this hospital stocks it. Every pharmacy I have tried in Bangkok or Pattaya does. What I am getting at is, the Bummagrad and western doctors thinks this is the best for particular people with particular conditions, but patients in this hospital due to the 50b a day cost of the pill are denied and subscribed an inferior medication. I do not want his thread to be about the Bum or Lipitor please, just an example I am aware of.

I am trying to find out if anyone knows if the medication that Thai Gov hospitals use is up to speed to what would be subscribed in the Bum for example. If not, is it to buy more modern drugs from Bangkok for Gov Doctors to use?

Honestly, very trying times, thanks for any advice.

  12. Does anyone have a list or link of snake rescue people in Thailand? Sound like they were really on the ball.

Most of the people in this thread will not agree with my opinion, but I hate snakes. I must admit most have ran away before I could ensure they wouldn't return.

The 3 times the snakes that decided my home is their new home, I chopped up, unfortunately one was a python and I felt a little bit guilty later, but the first two were very venomous and very aggressive. Ended up chopping them in half with one of those tree branch pruning tools on a 15 foot pole with a rope for a trigger that you pull. I have no regrets, one was a red belly black snake in my home, I slept much better. I did recycle it though and helped global warming by composting it, so I am a little bit environmentally friendly.

  13. I am not 100% sure, but my understanding is when a particular air carrier, in this case Thai Airways the story was alluding to, when they get permission to fly as a regular scheduled service into a country, part of the licensing rules will have thing s assoiated with those flights. Eg, to get permission to fly Bangkok to LA the Americans can say, all flights will have XYZ security checks and insurance for ABC when on this route. The EU says that when a person buys a ticket to a destination that the EU has given Thai Airways permission to operate, that in the even of a CXL over a certain number of hours a hotel room will be provided and food. These condition also cover this end for people on those flights. If Thai Airways says Mai Pen Rai, that's ok, the EU can fine them or simply not approve them to operate on those routes. These are the conditions Thai have to provide or stop flying to Europe. Just like they had to update their aging fleet to fly to Europe and other western countries that will ban of fine them so heavily in the coming years due to carbon controls. Again, simple, if Thai doesn't get new planes then they cant operate into EU.

I expect that the EU will fine Thai Airway Millions of Euros over this, and if they dont pay, they will ban them, like over 60 other airlines at the moment. Amazing Thailand. It's not like there is a shortage of hotel room in BKK at the moment like happened in Singapore.

(Edit) I don't know this news paper, sounds like tabloid trash though. Also, the BBC has been doing some pathetic bias reporting in the last year, (external to Thailand stories) that Fox, North Korea state TV and CNN would even be proud of !!!! I have actually found Al Jazeera English to be more reliable than the BBC now.

  14. Personally I can't believe you didn't back up several time last 7 years of pics, but, that doesn't help you one little bit right now me saying that.

Doubt it is not sold. Go to the pink Taxi company in case of a freak of nature.

To say a taxi driver is a red shirt is like saying a Thai is a Asian !!!! (Although I have meet many that say they are Thai, not Asian)

Most of the taxis I have been in all listen to the same radio station, ask them, (may need to pay for an add spoke! ...read bribe...) and offer an award, for it's return just in case the driver is working and still has it. Make sure it is broadcast on the same day and time that you were in the cab.

Morel of the sad story, back up. Even if you put your picks onto a DVD and post a second copy to family every 3 months, a $150 external hard drive can be handy, but do fail.

    Good luck.

  15. Is anyone going up to Kanchanaburi this year for the day or an overnight trip form Pattaya area or possibly Bangkok? Help share cost, I do not have a car in Thailand.

Great link I got off the Australian Embassy website with details of the day, but Thai Visa wont let me post it for some reason. PM me if you want it. (I presume I can send it in PM).
