  1. I am in need for a lawyer (ideally in BKK) who has experience in german-thai divorces (marriage registrated in TH) and could assist me during the process.

Does any fellow member has handson experience and can recommend a law firm / lawyer?

    Thanks in advance!

I wash and groom my dog regularly but still find the odd tick and usually in the ear so take it out, I looked at your recommendation Bravecto pills and vets are trying to get it banned as the side effects can be fatal Follow this link. Here is a link to the facebook group Does Bravecto Kill Dogs ? https://www.facebook.com/groups/411371212394679/

I know this, but I think it is bullshit or bad PR from their competitors.

A friend of mine with a dog shelter in Chonburi uses BRAVECTO for 9 month already on 70 (!) dogs of various breeds, mixes, sizes with no issue. Seriously!

Ticks a too bad, all the other things we tried like rubber necklaces etc are craps, especially if dogs are not moving over the day but sleeping and laying around a lot. Our first dog died on a virus (forgot the name) she got when eatien a tick and she suffered 8 months from a slowly dieing liver...

    Thanks for the info.

I live in downtown Bangkok and our dog constantly gets tics. I remove 6 - 10 every week and have tried all sorts of sprays and powders. Nothing seems to help.

I will try those pills. I assume I can get them from a vet.

Yes you can, they have 4 sizes I believe pending on the weight of the dog. One pils for a 25kg dog costs 750 THB and last 3 month. You might have to ask around a bit, as they are sold out a lot. Maybe LAZADA...

I read recently some ticks can turn us into herbivores, make us allergic to meat!!

Not only meat but the protein in it what is in many other products as well. A colleague of mine got bitten by a tick (in a 55th Floor hotel in Tokyo - don't ask) as few years back and suffered 3 years from it. A super strict and not fun diet plus heavy supportive medication  during that time turned it around.

  5. Our Gold Retriever in downtown BKK were always full of ticks last year, every evening hand picked like 10 from each dog, partly "empty" and partly full with blood", nasty nasty. But since we give our dog BRAVECTO pills every 3 month seriously no more ticks be found neither on her nor crawling in our house. Can seriously recommend it. Rubber necklaces or neck drops were useless!

  6. There is this ultra narrow about 100km long piece of Thailand south of Trat alongside the coast and opposite Koh Kut and Koh Mak etc I want to drive there to see, if there are beautiful "untouched" beaches and what else is going on there...

Have anybody of you guys been there and if so, how is it like?

Are there any resorts / guest houses/ hotels to stay? Anything to do?

  7. I am thinking of buying a second hand boat 6,16m long with outboard engine, nothing special, just to cruise around a bit, maybe some fishing around Ban Chang area. So, I have experience with motor cycles and car regarding Green / Blue Book etc, but no idea about boats yet:

The boat is offered without registration but with "papers from customs" - what do I need for such kind of boat? Registration for boat and engine like for a car / motorcycle, or at that size no need?

The trailer has no number plate, do I need a registration for this as well, and what would I need for this?

Sorry for those rookie questions, but appreciate any help on those...

    Cheers,

    Sven

  8. suggest you abandon the plate. welded joints are subject to fatique cracks with moving attachments. if you can, drill straight through the pillar to the other side, use an eyebolt or similar, washer and nut on outside, secure the bolt from movement by using epoxy resin. similar on the tree section, do not rely on threaded hooks in life wood. if your hamocks fails the most likely injury you or someone will sustain is spinal.

Unfortunately I cannot drill through the entire pillar, but thx for the advise with the welded crack potential, will check if I find a different dowel with a hook or "O" thingy at the end...

  9. I am living in a 30 year old bungalow (1 story free standing house) and I want to hang a hammock in the garden between a tree and a pillar of my outer wall. The pillar is about 18 cm wide. I have a metal plate being made 15x15 cm and a solid hook welded on it I want to screw with 4 8mm metal dowels which are 7 cm long...

    Questions:

Can I drill 4 10mm holes about 7 cm deep into a pillar or i this a bad idea?

And, what kind of drilling machine I would need, I have a BOSCH drill hammer but not a professional heavy duty thing?

Thanks for your help in advance...

  10. Manni Heckhoff, a German car mechanic got a garage in Ban Chang / Sattahip who is fixing lots of Expat and Thai German cars, not cheap but he knows what he is doing...

    PM me for contact details.

I have used him but I cant say anything good about him. You have been warned.

I use him for 3 years on my vintage BMW and my Scandinavian friends around BC use him as well being happy with him and his quality, so either you were just unlucky or we are just lucky with him...

  11. If you have a British driving licence for motorcycles, you can just go and get a Thai driving licence without theoretical test (questionaires to answer), but you need to bring a medical certificate, work permit copy and need to do the 3 stupid physical tests:

    -reaction

    -color vision

    -stereoscopic vision

...but it will take all in all 2 hours.

You are however able to drive in TH legally with an international driving licence from home.
