  1. Can't you just sign out of your Google account so your history and bookmarks won't be displayed?

If not, just delete your browsing history with Ctrl+H or with chrome://settings/clearBrowserData for Chrome. No need to restore any factory settings.

  2. Just trying to do mine in Phnom Penh and shopped around. Cost varies widely between $5 and $47. Some require a flight ticket, some want a bank statement and some say you have to go to the embassy yourself if your have more than x Thai visa stickers in your passport. They also offer express services for next day afternoon collection.

In the end I ended up paying $5 for the 3-day-service plus $5 for a "flight ticket". He didn't want my bank statement but I gave him mine anyway. Also, he didn't really look at the passport (all the other agents did), let's see how this goes.

I would get the app called eatigo. Many roof top bar and restaurants listed and several have huge discounts late at night.

Although I love Eatigo, I have to say that there is no discounts on drinks. If you save 50% on a 4,000 Baht food bill in a rooftop bar it'd be still kinda expensive.

  4. I had two flights booked with Bangkok Airways for the 5th, not on the same itinerary. The one from Samui was cancelled and I obviously couldn't make the next one. I got refunded for both of them and just booked another two flights for today.

I don't know what the moaners are complaining about. Just get refunded and book an alternative flight, it's not that hard. Going on standby with another 1-2000 people is just silly. All the planes in the next few days were almost fully booked even before the flood. How long is it gonna take to put all these people on the ~10 empty seats per plane?

I guess the problem is When the price of oil goes back up this tax will still be on there.

Technically it shouldn't, because excess tax revenue from periods of low oil prices/high taxes can be used to cut the tax during a high oil price period. Worked pretty well in Thailand with diesel, I think at some point there even was some sort of subsidy and not just a tax cut, but I might be wrong there.

  6. But sure the final petrol price was even higher (including tax) a few years ago (when oil was at $150) than it is now when oil sits at $54?

A lot of governments including Thailand try to even out the fluctuations by increasing the tax when the oil price is low. This actually makes a lot of sense. Maybe these guys just needed a reason to riot?

Edit: Just as I suspected. What a bunch of d1ckheads.

  7. This is crazy... the average rainfall for January is 90mm and for December it's 150mm. We already had a day with 90mm this December, no flooding in Lamai though. Today in Lamai everything was under water, even with the fancy new canal. Water at the beach is almost black from all the debris.

  8. I just had my flights canceled today (even though I saw one taking off like 5pm and another one just 30 minutes ago). I rebooked for Saturday night. Anyone seen the forecast? Will I be okay?

Have to drive to Chaweng tomorrow to pick up my refund, lets see how this goes.

  9. For me I always go with Emborg as it seems best value. Occasionally also buying others if they are on special.

I try to stay away from Thai butter as it always has this kind of rancid taste, not sure where that comes from. Anyone else noticed that? Is that intended?

what's needed is Foxtel in Thailand to show the locals how to run a satellite/cable tv business properly and provide the customers with what they want .

Yeah right, lets have pay tv for 120$ a month and have every 19-minute sitcom interrupted THREE TIMES by ads and stretched to 30 minutes. Might as well watch free TV then.
