  1. sounds like someone who has never had a truck! I have had nothing but trucks for over 20 years before moving here! If you dress out a truck like it should be seeing behind the bumper is impossible so camera is a plus! What have you been looking at when you say girly styling?? I am tired of seeing these midget trucks, and glad to finally see one getting up to size, I am not stupid enough to drive one downtown and try to find parking, and stay away from the city as much as I can, but use taxi when needed!

First truck I ever drove was a '75 Chevy crew cab; the one with full-size four doors and a full-length bed after that. Bloody thing had a different zip code for the arse end! The last truck I had (before coming here) was a Dodge Ram 4x4... tight fit even in a Texas-sized garage. In between there were Ford F-150, F-250, etc. that belonged to contractors. Here is LOS, I rented a Vigo 4x4 when transiting between the beach home and the country home so.... you are right, I know bugger all about trucks.

So what's this about 'dressing out a truck like it should be'? Sounds very girly, dressing up and all but probably OK for the Mazda admirers. Just my opinion of course; the Ranger does have a more aggressive look compared with the BT-50 but I prefer the latter's interior so maybe I am getting in touch with my feminine side after all.

But I agree, it's about time the trucks grew a few inches around here and the Ranger has taken the lead in that regard.

Guess I overstated that a bit, but yes I know about trucks myself as I traded every 2-3 years since 1973. Two worst I have had was a Dodge Ram 4X4 1997, and a Toyota T100 1995. My favorite and best perfoming was a Ford F150 FX4 4X4.

As for dressing up, I spent 21 years in the Army and wore Dress Uniform a lot, so dressing isn't just for sissies or girls. I like a big tires for ground clearance and with the flooding, keeps me dry. Dressing up a truck for me, is nice looking wheels and tires, maybe a cover for the back, and decent seats or covers inside.

As for the Ranger over the Mazda, the 3.2 Wildtrack comes with pretty much all options I would want so no extra shopping, with factory fit! Also do not like the looks of the Mazda front end. Bad part is waiting for the 3.2, but it has the options I want, and I have time to wait. Got a feeling this is the closest we're gonna get to a full size truck, so it will do as I don't travel much anymore!

  2. great the Ranger wildrack 3.2 will be debuting for 1.049 mil especially as i dont plan on getting much in the way of concessions as I will be buying when available. Spoke to the dealership few days ago who advised me the price, still hoping the everest will be available end of this year or more concrete information will be out especially given the trailblazer will be out sooner.

The chev/isuzu offering is more of an extension of the previous generation inside and out, reminds me of the navara, the new ranger/bt50 may only be a little more refined and substantial but that little bit goes a long way makes me question whether toyota can afford to delay the imv2. will be interesting to see the new nissan/mitsu platform and their pickup suv offerings sometime this year.

Not sure where he got his price, as Ford Thailand said price won't be released till april just 2 days ago in reply to my emails! I have been on that list of 3.2 Wiltracks on order also, so I think maybe your dealer is just guessing! I did however see 3 new XLT's on the road today which is encourageing!

  3. Best burger in Bangkok at the moment, IMHO. Though not crazy about the bun. Too big for the patty and a bit spongy.

Fries are the best in town hands down.

Free pickles and roasted peanuts in the shell a nice touch.

If you like hanging out at Q Bar (across the street) you can order and be served your food there as well.

Bun was OK to me, just burger is so juicy it gets soggy if you eat slow!

  4. March to June? Talk about ballpark, Yikes,

And that's not even the 3.2 !! If ford isn't careful they will lose a lot of sales to mazda - faster delivery, cheaper, better service centres??

....and the girly styling. May be OK for those who think having a reversing camera on a truck is manly.

  5. Tried out the Firehouse reataraunt today, and damned glad I did!!! The Firehouse burger was by far the best burger I have had in years!! I comes served with wedge cur potatoes, and all the dressings, and is a meal in itself. I ordered mine medium well and it was juicy enough to have to lean over table, and made from fench beef as well as a great tasting bun! They have a jar of dill pickles on the table you can eat all you want as well! Burger was priced at 195 THB, but they do add tax and graituity as well, but still a great meal! I will return there and soon. Added bonus was wife recognised a waitress as an old friend, and all staff are easy on the eyes, and great service! If I travel to Bangkok and don't stop for a burger, well it won't be by choice, as I have found a secret I don't mind sharing! They are off Sukumvit, soi 11

  6. Riot victims not facing legal action to be paid first

    This headline is very misleading.

    When was there a 'riot"?

I recall there being a taxpayer revolt against a coup which stole their elected Government..

A protest that changed in nature when protesters were attacked by representatives of said coup.

If there was a riot, not sure who were the rioters - the attackers or the attackees.

Protesters dont like it when those they are protesting against attack them. They try to resist as best as possible.

Especially when the attackers are the electoral minority, and attackees know they are the electoral majority, as the last election clearly confirmed.

    Would piss anyone off.

protesters with spears, burning tires and building fortresses in the middle of streets as well as molitoff cocktails, are NOT protesters, they criminals. I f you fight the law in an illegal manner you are the one that is wrong! That money should be paid to the poor people that were flooded out of their homes for no reason other than to protect those that have money! This Govt has a warped sence of judgement, and how its people should be treated!

  7. I was all prepared to ditch my current pickup in favour of a 3.2 Ranger when they finally hit the market, having talked to a various people (supposedly in the know) now I have deferred my decision and wait for at-least 12 months until the bugs (of which there are plenty it seems) are sorted out.

I've gone pretty fanatical about research on the Ranger, and except for the odd lemons there's not one mass fault that seems to be popping up.

The odd manual and auto boxes have gone and a couple of electrical issues.

I have read of two that have a vibration at high speed but still no word on what the fault is on those, although I've heard of one that had the driveshaft out of alignment.

I'm going from comments if actual workers at ATT there isn't a model range default at play more like factory teething issues ( NO, before you say it haven't got shares).

What is now getting annoying is that Ford Asia and Pacific feel that it's OK to not give any imformation on when the Wildtrak deliveries will start. I think that it may have something to do with Australia not receiving any to date, atleast that's what I hope.

MRO, I've seen a lot if Rangers around in the last few weeks, but I haven't seen one BT50 yet on the streets. If they are both being manufactured at ATT I'm sure one can't be head of the other on manufacturing quantity and quality?

Just sent a PM with an email address of someone who should be able to answer your query about Wildtrak deliveries.

Sure hope you share that info on deliveries, as I have been nuts with a deposit on the 3.2 and no info, no matter how much I email them!
  8. That car park in Rayong seems to be getting smaller, or them rangers are like rabbits;

    post-80555-0-42379000-1328942058_thumb.jpost-80555-0-06522500-1328942060_thumb.j

That's a hell of a lot to be just sitting around!passifier.gif

I hope these are ready to move out, I wouldn't like my new truck to be sitting out in the open for several months. It seems that overseas markets are being catered to first and we have to wait. I think that's why ford have not been clear on the introduction of the 3.2 here. Do we have to wait for the Motorshow for the 'formal' introduction? Hopefully there will be a price for the 3.2 then. Anyway, once our production comes on song, how long would delivery take? Ford/mazda are usually quite fast, but if there are 7000 booking already made it might take a while to clear that backlog. I think I'll wait till the Motorshow next month to see what's on offer and might squeeze in a test drive of the 2.2 in the meantime. Just over there last few days I've seen a number of rangers sitting around dealer parking lots and a couple of testers on the road, so hopefully at least the 2.2 should be delivered to customers shortly.

When pestering Ford again about prices and dates, got an email back yesterday saying prices would be released in April, but no info on dates yet!

  9. Tried Reggies pizza while in Bangkok in hopital! Was 1.5 hours late, called and they gave excuse we didn't answer when they called back. Finally delivered, sauce kinda lacking, no parmarsan, and pepperoni tasted like plain salami, not American style, anyway, looked better than it tasted, guess stay with Pizza Company, at least they have real pepperoni!

  10. Picture supposedly taken yesterday in Rayong.

    I'm not sure if they're 3.2s or 2.2s but I hope there's a black 2.2 in there somewhere!drunk.gifclap2.gif

That chilli orange doesn't look anything like the pictures on the Ford website sad.png

Well it looks like that on the showroom at motor show!! I have one on order in the 3.2

Looks like what at the motorshow, the Ford website pics, or the one posted by stefan2519?

Both, depending on light, the pearl in the paint changes tone just a bit

  12. bah.gifsick.gif do yourself a favour and go straight past !

by the way that white stuff squirted all over everything you see in the picture is ' thai salad cream ' or poor man's mayonaise .. it tastes gastly !!!

While we are discussing the subject of fast food ... I've got a comment on KFC & Mcdonald's ...

How the heck can anybody consider a chicken burger from KFC even tastes remotely to that of a piece of chicken ... It is nothing like eating chicken meat ... it just tastes revolting !! imo.

As for any Mcdonald's burger ... you've got to be kidding ! how can anyone with any sense of what tasty food should be consider one of there burgers as that ... ' a beef burger ' I would probably consider calling it ' the ketchup taste burger ' or ' the cardboard burger ' or the burger you want to have if you would like to feel sick soon after consumption. sick.gifbah.gif

    wai.gif

I agree, you should skip falang foods and go straight to the grilled rat and blackbird on a stick! Maybe some of the black chicken, suck some chicken feet or munch on a pig snout!! Maybe some fried bugs, and all of course cooded under strict sanitary conditions! Most fast foods are set up for the people who DO like this stuff, same with pizza, its not for everyone obviously, but why do you and others think we who do eat this, will change our minds because you don't like it?

Seems no mater what subject is discussed, someone has to voice ther dislike, if you don't like this stuff, don't buy it or endorse it!

  13. I agree would order also one...

I took the pictures on 28 of August.... And it was so promising... X cab 2 wheel drive 3.2 auto... with all the nice gimmicks... But I placed my order on the BT-50... In Germany even the smallest single cab has steering remote...

The pic was taken where?? The 3.2 is only available to order in the Wildtrack model for now, and that was not a wildtrack interior either from the looks of the seats. Looks like a combo of parts added to look like something it ain't!!

  14. This looks interesting - an XLT 3.2 auto non wildtrak on red plates. I thought the 3.2 would be only in wildtrak form here, or is this car for export?

http://www.bt-50.com....php?q_id=27487 Can anyone read the Thai?

Look closer at them pics, showing an Auto and there is no such thing as an AT XLT with 3.2 in Thailand! The 3.2 is only going to be available in the Wildtrack according to Ranger brochure! SOmeone playing with plates as only has a front plate, so maybe in another country and just used for pics!

  15. As far as I am aware, Nana or El Sapo products are not yet in there.

But we can certainly look into it....

So where exactly on HWY 7 is this? Bangkok or Chonburi?

Apparently it has not been added to their website yet.

    Thanks.

And....Thanks Avid, Paul and Boy for your kind words biggrin.png

Just a thought, but why not try out a special run of hotter sauce, maybe a habenro variety and see how it does! Drives me crazy to see many sauces here in thailand only in mild or medium, I thought Thais loved hot stuff??????

  16. TallGuy,

OK, my wife spoke to the mgr... seems they had another case of Picante in the back, and so I am told, they have restocked the shelf. Hopefully it will be enough to last til next order cycle... but I am a still bit concerned if the first case went after only 1 week. Will be keeping an eye on it... thanks again for your feedback.

Soi 33 branch had a bunch, bought 4 jars today there! Again I will hint, how about a hotter version? Seem all the hot stuff sells over here and we love it hot!!!!!

  17. The BT50 has...

    DSC Dynamic Stability Control

    TSA Trailer Sway Mitigation

    EBD Electronic Force Distribution

    BOS Brake override system

    ESS Emergency Stop Signal

    Roll over Mitigation

    Hill descend control

    Hill launch assist

    only Dual Air Bag....

less the 1 million, good for the first time Thai Buyer, who like the 5 cylinder...

Why is Ford Thailand stalling on the specs? The 2.2 sounds good enough, but even the Wildtrak doesn't have half the features the Aussies are getting. Surely, this is a great opportunity to beat the opposition here in Thailand, but they're not offering us everything they can sad.png

Check out the price the Aussies are paying, no wonder they get more! The 3.2 Wildtrack is loaded and the big stall is 4x4 models. They say parts commming from othe locations, but still haven't release pricing yet on 3.2. As for the Mazda, the 4X4 is still not available for a while, and since Ford and Mazda are sharing factoies and power plants for their trucks, no reason one should be ready and not other! I was also called by Mazda dealer from show, but when we ask about 4X4 got the runaround. Lines are better on Ford styling, and the 3.2 Wildtrack has a lot more standard items the Mazda, and I want the CHILI ORANGE!!!

  18. Saw a 2.2L Double-Cab XLT Hi-Rider in the "Aurora Blue" the other and I was surprised at how great it looked. Almost like a "candy" color, and much brighter than it looks on the website and in the brochure.

Ford dealer in Lamlukka has a blue XLT on the lot and it does look like a candy color, almost Cobalt Blue. In the sun these colors POP, can't wait to get behind the wheel, but since I ordered the 3.2, not even any new info since show Glad I ordered during all the promo stuf, as our deposit shows all the goodies!!!

  19. Hi guys

Has anyone driven enough in the new 2,2 l Highlander/Wildstreak to tell me if the engine is powerfull enough for this truck ?

How is the general feeling of the truck compared to Toyota Hilux or Mitsubishi Triton ?

    Thanks

I've had the 2.2 6AT for 2 weeks now and very happy. The 2.2 actually has more power, and is more economical, than the outgoing 2.5 and together with the 6 speed (manual or auto) gearbox it feels plenty. Sure, it's a big truck but the 2.2 has enough power, I will rarely have a heavy load in the back, doubt I'll ever tow anything and won't be dragracing or attempting world speed records so don't need any more. Power is fine whether pulling away from lights in first or cruising at 140kph and the gearbox is adaptive so adjusts to each driver. Triton has more power but is fugly and not really worth mentioning the Hilux, so boring. The only other options I looked at were the new Isuzu and the new Chevrolet but both were quite a lot more expensive for similar spec and neither looked anywhere near as nice as the Ford or had as much interior space. Go with the Ranger, you won't be disappointed!

Thanks - good info (I don't need a race truck as well)

I am out of LOS now, so I will send wife to buy the truck - she has seen the Ford and she likes it (but I have to like it most).

Now I just have to tell her what make, colour and the hard part (send her money).

I think I will go for the Ford (2,2 Wildstreak)

AGHHHHHH Its called a "Wildtrack". Wildstreak is that thing you get in your shorts when you buy a Wildtrack!!

  20. Thanks guys - I think the Triton is a good option.

The Ranger is quite big so not sure I need a "Hummer".

When I was first looking, they didn't have a truck to show me, so they showed me 2 employees personal vehicles! OK, first they said engine would be smaller, colors are limited, no rear cameras in 4X4, and cannot get a 4X4 in white! Seems all they had to show me was a brosure and not familirs with all accessories available to new ones, I opted to leave, Briskly!! Neighbor has Plus model in 2WD and like it, but I will wait for new Ranger 3.2. After the floods and rainey season, I want a 4X4 and more room for me and family!!

  21. What happened to the New York Style pizza places in Bangkok? I am wanting a NY style pie covered with real pepperoni. Seems Google searches haven't been updated in a long time! OK, anyone know where I can get one close to real, you know the 2 handes slice, with real pepperoni grease running off it??

  22. I think you'll find your dealer is trying it on. As far as I know all models till Feb get free insurance, ALL the other freebies can be had but will be hardwork. The grey wildtrak is pictured above at the media day.

The picture of the metro grey isn't very clear, or maybe I'm looking at the wrong pics. Anyway, I found an Aussie site with some better pic, including Gunmetal blue, which is my favourite at the moment if I buy the XLT. If I buy the Wildtrak, it'll be the Chilli Orange....

I have one on oreder in the Chili orange, but don't expect to see it for a while as I ordered a 3.2 Wildtrack!
