  1. the 64gb model would be the way to go if no SD card slot and that puts it a bit out of my range. I just don't like spending that much om a phone usually, plus, will the OS be updated to 5.0 or similar? still would like to see one, I'll be at MBK tomorrow will look around.

I can usualy do pretty well at MBK, but yeah, not always the best place to buy.

  2. Looking at those basic specs. It should work on 850mhz 3g . Probably the best network is True. Obviously the global one would be better.

Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

T-Mobile offers 2G free, so it would only need to work on the 2G network really. not even sure what frequency that works on.

Seemed to work OK on my Moto G LTE @ 2G with AIS once I set the phone to that.

This is for a friend that wants to use in US and Thailand, I think she would be better off with a Moto G LTE.

I think she will keep her T-Mobile SIm in the phone.

    Thanks for the help!

  3. For someone that will want to use in both Thailand and USA, will the US version work fine in LOS?

    Using T-Mobile in USA.

    US GSM Model:
    GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
    UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps (850, 1700 (AWS), 1900 MHz)

    Global GSM Model:
    GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
    UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz)

  4. Going to try the True H today, anyone know of a True office in Sunkhumvit? I am close to The Emporium. I can do MBK if needed.

AIS plans are pretty confusing, I would like to have someting that just works for 16-17 days, without buying pieces of paper from 7-11 every other day.

I got in about midnight and the AIS office at the airport said the Internet was closed and they could not help me??

    Thanks for the help

  5. I usually get a mate of mine to send me a True Intersim before I visit but it looks as though they're no longer available. I'll be there for a month in November and will only be using voice and sms. Is it worth him sending me a sim? If so which one? Or should I pick up a freebie at BKK? Whereabouts in the airport are they please?

Are there any cheap clamshells still available in Thailand. The best phone I ever had was a Motorola V3 and I'd like another flip phone...

Nokia 301 looks interesting. may be a bit more than a basic candy bar phone.

  6. Yes where do they sell those tourist SIMs in airport? My bro with his buddy are coming in October for a few weeks, I was gonna get him a True SIM and give it to him when I go back to Canada in a week, but if its easy to find it in the airport, he can get it himself.

also what provider arre those tourist sims? No AIS please.

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

    why no AIS? just curious.

  7. Voice mainly in Thailand, I will use google voice on the wi-fi for international calls most likely.

Wi-fi covers most data, still nice to have a bit here and there, email etc.

    international text is always nice.

The TrueMove sounds fine, is thier coverage as good as AIS? Not sure where I will end up really.

    DTAC...Hmm..

    thanks again..

  8. What is the name of the place on the 4th floor MBK toward the front (toward skytrain) that has a large selection of real stuff and blu-ray?

any other place worth looking at? looking for best selection of Blu-ray etc. anywhere in Bangkok..

The other DVD threads were closed.

    thx

  9. My Nokia does not have 3g, so just the slower data connection GPRS I guess?

I presume you will be using the 3g data connection of the Nokia and tether on your Galaxy Tab.

    It should work as follow:

On your phone turn on the Bluetooth.

Make sure that you have select the Visible tab option, so that it appears visible to others.

Also do the same thing on your tab, i.e., go to Settings > Wireless and networks and first enable Flight mode which disables all the data connection (3G and WiFi) on your Galaxy Tab which may cause any network conflicts or may result in non working of your Bluetooth tether. Flight mode option is available option in the Wireless and network tab.

Now turn on the Bluetooth. Make sure that you have select the Visible tab option just below the Bluetooth settings, so that it appears visible to others.

Now comeback to your phone and in the Bluetooth devices tab you will find the Galaxy Tab displayed. Tap on the device and it will provide the passkey.

Now accept the Bluetooth pairing request on your Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Now that you should do it for internet access on your tablet for which the data connection is from your phone.

The speed of internet on your Galaxy Tab will depend on the phone’s capabilities and the Bluetooth version.

    Hope this help

  10. Possible to tether the Galaxy Tab 2 to my Nokia Symbian phone with bluetooth for internet? Galaxy Tab 2 runs Android 4.0.

Usually use AIS, but could be another provider.

The USB cablle is proprietary on the 7" Tab 2.

  11. The low 4000s sounds about right. I checked in March this year and it was hovering about 5,000. I was originally planning on getting the 6300 and came across the Nokia 5130. It's one of the XpressMusic phones, so you may find the red or blue a bit garish, but it has all the features of the 6300 plus a standard headphone jack. Sound quality is definitely superior to my iPod. Best of all the price is about B3800 at the powerbuy in Chidlom.

5130 does seem like a nice little phone. how hard to tether to my laptop and use internet? Will that work with 1-2-Call or would i need another provider? years ago I used to use my phone as a 14.4 baud modem that actually worked well for basic email.

  12. Off to buy a new phone today.

Can someone recommend a good shop in MBK? Hard to find anyone knowledgeable about phones. English helps

    Tri-Band

    Smallish

can backup easily by standard Mini USB cable.

Can charge by the same USB cable.

    Can use leash

Nokia has worked pretty well through the years, i do not care for the goofy Nokia Suite PC software necessarily, it works i guess.

    How about Samsung or LG?

    around 4000-6000 thb.

What would be a latest model equivalent to say the Nokia 3110?

    thx
