  1. The Stinger I have driven. It was actually an ex cop car. Yes it was impressive but just didn't excite me. Body dynamics were way out of kilter with drive train. I've also punted an i30 N around a track here in Oz and whilst it was an absolute hoot I don't know if I could live with it as a daily. Everyone to their own - that is what makes life interesting.
  2. Having spent a lifetime in the motor vehicle repair industry and now working on the IT side of things, there is certainly an air of smugness for sure. I buy second hand Benz's because I like them. This is not a completely logical choice, for the reason's you mentioned, but I just want to have that solid feeling around me when driving that is common to most German engineered cars and the asian manufacturers try so hard to copy. So back on topic, If I am going to outlay ฿1-2 million on a car, I would want it to have comprehensive insurance. If I can't have that I will have to buy one at a price that I am comfotable to lose if I was to have an accident.
  3. Yeah, most of my gear is vintage (I hate using that word for gear that is only 45 years old or so) Marantz, Cerwin Vega etc but the speakers are very big. Quote so far to get it all to Thailand is ฿60000 - ฿80000 so I was hoping maybe for that money I could buy locally. I am no audiophile and like my 70's,80's & 90's rock music loud and with plenty of bass. It is that live sound I enjoy most. Maybe I go and listen to some pro gear.
  4. Maybe educating yourself. But then who could you blame?
  5. Maybe you need help with chosing the cars you buy. Sounds like your pre-purchase checks haven't been that thorough.
  6. Wouldn't you be bettter to get rid of your service centre?
  7. I'm retiring to Thailand soon and want to know where is the best place to sniff out some decent second hand QUALITY hi fi components. I'm a big fan of Cerwin Vega speakers and Marantz amps.
  8. I am retiring to Thailand and will buy a used Mercedes Benz. Probably 2002 - 2008 model C Class. My query is will I be able to get class 1 insurance (fully comprehensive covering my car and the other car regardless of who is at fault). I believe Thai insurance companies are reticent to insure cars over 10 years old. Is this so?
  9. So you blamed the car for the technicians inablity to do his job? Strange logic.
  10. Buying a used Benz is a very sensible decision for me. I enjoy the inherent safety, the superiror engineering and engineered longevity. I do all the service myself.
  11. May I enquire, what is a blue book?
  12. I am looking to buy a used Benz as I will soon be retiring to Thailand. I noticed on Facebook Marketplace (first red flag) some very cheap 7-10 year old cars. A 3rd of the normal going price. When I enquired about one vehicle and asked for the V.I.N. or plate number so I could do some due diligence on the car he refused and said I could see them when I picked the vehicle up. I asked why the vehicle was cheap and he said it was a PAWNED vehicle. It was a repossion from a finance company. He said all that was needed to "check the confiscated status and the confiscated status can be removed by hiring a deletion". Obviously this all sounds very dodgy to say the least but I would love to know what these cars are and teir legal status. Are they repossesed? WIll the finance company come after you? Can ownership be transferred?
  13. If it's a head gasket or cracked head/block then it is a BIG problem. If it is an issue with an oil/water heat exchanger then not such a problem but it is a P.I.T.A. to get everthing clean again.
  14. Did anyone get the UFiber NanoG working with 3BB Fibre? I would love to stick to all Ubiquiti Unifi stuff.
  15. Looking for recommendations for high quality renovations to bathrooms (2) and a kitchen. Job is situated about 60 K's north of Korat.
