  1. driving a taxi is sure a nice way to generate some income.

(i would do it) but i think the majory on taxidrivers does not have the little business-sense needed, to create some serious income with the car.

refusing fares are very common. and thinking like "have to go back" ... things like this make them do desitions.

a common taxidriver will pefer to "hop arround in the city to get a customer" (drive empty until someone waves) instead of driving for 400 baht to Prathum ... and o the same on the way back (when the 400B already save in the pockets)

i met some very smart drivers .. knowing well sois and streets to bypass jams ...

but the majory (again) of taxidrivers are not that smart (well this is my opinion) or just prefer the easy live by hang arround and get enough cash pay for the car and the M-150 they need to keep awake ...

800 baht is normal price for the car .. and possible to make easy.

    i know from a taxidriver i know a while ... a blue taxi cost 1600/day .. so 800 for half is matching ...

  2. boys, where is the diffrence?

The only diffrence i see is that a us or eu scam girl is nice to you as long the $$$ are on the move, after you chained (married) the truth is comes out as you loose already 50%.

I do not think there is any diffrence.

I had in 5 years Thailand 2gf, where the first was exactly like this, she now drive the car i payd for and i riding 8baht bus.

She is not a bargirl at all (chief accountant)

Its straight forward biz, with clear picture about benefits and possible loss.

Its just a matter to know how far you can or want go. After this desition ìs maded there is no real room for getting things back.

Back in the homecountry, NONNE Here would give live and future in the hand of a girl. In asia peoples do, and this fact is just become a great busines oportunity.

  3. i have the same problem with GPRS charges with True Move ...

we have 2 contracts ... one has permanent gprs package (flatrate) the other one use sometimes

1 weeks packages ... if used once they begin to charge sometimes 2 or 3 times ...

after complaining and alot of phonecalls they seems always to agree and refund the charges.

    seems a comon practice ..

on my dtac (mainly used) i never had a problem like that.

  4. As far as I know the maps for Thailand not very good and most of them in Thai only!

thats a matter where they are from !

this is never about the software only ... the quality of the map is as well a important issue.

same as in the most places on this world .. the best maps are from Navteq or Esri ...

in thailand the GIS leading Company is Esri ... but they have exclusive Deal with garmin ...

    so:

product != garmin .. map not really state of art

product == garmin .. map and software almost perfect ..

BUT ... garmin is not cheap ... its a serious investment pay arround 10k just for a map ...

or 12k for a gps reciever with map license ...

    on the other side ...

buy a cheap reciever for 5k and another 2k for cheap maps .. + weeks of terror with the problems .. is almost the same ;-)

Noia smart2go uses mapdate from teleatlas (same as i-go is using and google maps)

where the mapdata from nokia is FAR away from the quality of google maps ... (its all about money) ;-)

there will be a city guide some day ... but thats a good question when.

  5. welll smart2go (nokia navi) is a good option if you are not all day use navigation systems....

its also quite cheap ... however .. there is nothing better on this world as Garmin ...

where a Garmin setup for the N95 cost somethings about 6000 baht (almost double price)

for walking navigation .. and straight forward navi .. ist smart2go enough ...

if you need to trust it in time-matters .. and doing complex routes ... there is nothing better as garmin.

  6. i tryed recently www.payoneer.com (they doing franchise as well ... ) would be a suplyer for a thaivisa cc card ;-)

however .. i got the card (activation works fine) ... inital fee is 19USD (outside US) or 9USD insidde us ...

so far everything allright .... 3bucks/month 3,5% for charge .. and 5USD each redraw on a ATM ...

the cool thing is that you can anyone let "load your card" so its also a nice payment gateway

  7. i had before used jacksgolf service many times.... and was always great service .. as they have lots of staff traveling along ... if there is any problem they weill be beside you ... its almost impossible to get lost ... or run in any problem.

so well the price is high but the service level is quite good ...

also the bus tours (cambodia) very well organised .. they have staff on the field, in bangkok and in the bus.

  8. somehow its seems there are no sites at all blocked ...

(or true makes diffrences between SME and private accounts ??)

here from the SME true connection is no site blocked as they usual.

    however to answer the question

just check the IP the webhost resolving too.

the ICT doing DNS Spoofing to display the "warning message"

this mean ...using a thailandISP DNS server ..

the answer for a ipadress of a blocked website will be the IP of the ICT webserver.

    so just type un unix/linux: "host -t a www.the-host-you-want-to-check.tld piano.asianet.co.th"

if the output shows the ip: 202.47.227.20

the site is blocked (as thaiisp resolving the ip to the mict webserver (w3.mict.go.th)

    under windows: "nslookup www.the-host-you-want-to-check.tld piano.asianet.co.th"

discl: this is not a trick or something secret ! this is just normal usage of over 22Years old internet protocols.

  9. just a short thing .. is there any information out there about hos holidays in govt scools and Universitys are handled ??

some say there are no regulations... but is there may some ?list" or suggestions from the goverment about school-holidays ?

  10. the Huawei EC 321 works fine on OSX ...

but well the speed is terrible ...

iam not checked EV-DO for now ....

as Hutch gives ZERO service ... staff iss terrible trained .. (knows almost nothing) (try serval shops in thai and english)

shortly: you have to buy it .. and make a 1year contract BEFORE you able to get any information if its actually working on the place where you are ..

almost 30K baht just for a trial is way too much for me ...

the EDGE Speed in the hutch network is same slow as on Truemeove.

  11. absolutly !!

nothing better as GArmin systems ... and thanks cheap 3rd party hardware solutions also very flexible too.

i got already 2 devices .. and wont go anywhere without GPS on my o2 Atom .. ;-)

Garmin saved my live and hours many times already ...

also on the counrtyside .. the Navi send you in rooads you would probably never drive in there ;-)

  12. i bought almost everything on thai2hand.com ...

never bad experiences ... well peopoes there are privates ..

but its also common meet peoples on the place they actually live ...

so if somethings wrong .. you know the place they live ;-)

Extremly cheap is also nor,mal ..

i bought a Sony camera (top model at this time)

with 9 extra lenses ... for almost 30% of the market price .. and until today its working fine ...

the leather bag was included cost more in europe as i pay for the whole set ;-)

all my thaifriends recoment thai2hand ... as its totally private to private.

  13. the bus is 552 ... but as colino wrote already its may take a while. also this busline does not have that much busses operating...

from the airport to there is not a big deal .. but otherwise its causes some waiting time for the bus as well.

better to take 132 (white-red no A/C) to bang phli (somewhere behind he OuterRing-junction)

and exchange then to 552, 552a or 553 (more choice .. and lots faster)

anyway ... 1 hour need to calculate

shuttle from the busterminal to the airportterminal goes every 3-5 minutes take just 3 minutes.
