  1. If you can buy it online in thailand then you probably find it also at pantip.

By the way the MiniX, has it a good wifi? I got the mk908ii stick, the stick is very nice because you can just use the usb power of the tv and it is practically invisible behind the TV but the wifi is so bad. If the wifi AP is just in another room you wont get more then 2-3mbit.

  2. You cannot have an directorship if you are not employed. If you want to be the director and work for your "own" company (which in most cases cannot be more then 49% if you are a foreigner) there are the same requirements like any other company. So 2 mio baht paid up capital and 4 thai employees. If you are married to a thai then 1 mio baht capital and 2 thai employees.

  3. The situation in Thailand about immigration gets really worse. Same thing happened to me at Udon Thani Immigraton. I was 9 months (90 days first entry and then 2x 90 days ED extension) here on ED extensions and then I just wanted 60 days to see my child. Nothing!? I had to leave the country first. What is this for a system?! Then at the the Border back to thailand at Nong Khai the Immigration officer wanted 500 thai baht to give me my 30 days entry (whch I should get because I am from a G7 country) if I dont pay I only get 7 days. I paid and got my 30 days. Then went to the immigration in Udon thani again and the officer just wanted to give me 30 more instead of 60 days because I just have a transit visa on arrival and not a Non-O or Tourist visa.

  4. Thanks very much for your answer! just one little question. You said i will not be considered visa runner . Is that because i come from ED visa ? lets say i do a fly to kuala , get 30 days and then 30 days more extension . Then i fly back to Kuala , in this case im a visa runner right ? Just for my information i dont plan to anything like that.

    Cheers

If you have bad luck they will just give you 7 days instead of the 30 days at the airport.

I had a similar situation. I had an ED visa and wanted a 60 days extension because I have a thai child. But IO refused to give me the extension even when I showed him evidence that I have an appointment at the courtyard two weeks later for my child legalization process. Then I went to Nong Khai (Laos), exit the country, enter Laos and came straight back 30 minutes later and the Immigration officer at the thai border just wanted to give me 7 days instead of the 30 days, which I should normally get and he told me that I should have stayed a few days in Laos. The officer was absolutely unfriendly and I felt very unwelcome. Luckily a thai friend was with me all the time and talked to the officer and explained him that I have a child and right now I am in legalization process. My friend told me if I want to get 30 days the officer wants 500 thai baht. I shouldn't have paid it but I just want to get my 30 days so I did and 30 days visa on arrival. My thai friend by the way was absolutely shocked.

  5. Good to see democracy working so well in LOS.

If this country would let democracy grow then it would fruit but there are always powerful people who are trying to stop this process... but the folks are waking up and realize what is going on. Their grandparents could not read and didn't understand it, their parents could read but still didn't understand but the new generation can read and understand and they will win....

  6. What happens if you are a tourist but owning a condo and wnat to live in your own accomodation?

You put that address on the landing card and it's recorded.

They may however, want to make sure you have the proof of funds and outbound ticket.

In this case, wouldn't it be easier to get the appropriate visa?

30 days visa exempts are meant for short stays and not as a substitute for getting the right visa.

What appropriate visa? You are not married , at least 50 years old and your condo didn't cost more then 10 million baht. So practically if you are in this situation you are just allowed to see your property for a few months every year.

Don't come now with the 500k Elite card.

  7. I believe these are thresholds for a one year permit to stay extension. But getting a non B is a separate story. For example I know Americans who earn around 40k a month so they are not eligible for a one year extension, they only have a multiple entry Non B visa and have to leave the country (do a so called boarded bounce) every 90 days.

My question is if there is a minimum salary required to receive a WP and than a Non B based on that.

There are exceptions about minimum wages. I think teachers and expats who are married or have a thai child don't need a minimum salary for the WP.

Anyway you will need the Non B visa before you can get a WP. So the company which will employ you have to give you all necessary documents so you can and you have to travel outside Thailand and apply for a Non Imm B visa at an Embassy or consulate.

  8. Here is a list. I don't know if it is still up-to-date. But 25k is really the absoulte minimum for african and other south east asian countries. Don't ask me why, but I guess you are from South Africa so 35k.

Europe and Australia, Canada, Japan, the United States of America (except Russia) 50,000 per month
South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong 45,000 per month
Asian Countries (except Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam)South America,Eastern Europe,Central America,
    Mexico,Russia,South Africa 35,000 per month
All African Countries (except South Africa), Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam 25,000 per month

  9. There have been other reports of them being done. I don't know if was a problem with the OP's documents or if the consular officer was having a bad day. It could of been there was no proof his child was living with him also.

Are you getting custody or legitimization from the court? Are you still with your child's mother?

Legitimization. Yes I am still with the mother.

  10. You said she does not have a lot of money. If she really want to stay 1 year she need to apply for a 1 year (180 hours) course which costs around 25.000 THB at most schools.

Also it seems that in near future you have to pay 4-5 times as much for the language classes to stay in Thailand with an ED visa because Immigration-rumors says that they want to implement that you need to study at least 25 hours per week if you want to say longer then 5 months in the country.

  11. So far this year, the agency has received 65-68 per cent requests and has already paid out Bt254 million in compensations, while another Bt84 million is pending for other eligible victims, he said.

254.000.000 aldready paid for this year. 400 baht per day?! This would be 635000 days of wrongly accussed prison days and we are at september...

  12. As we all know it is getting much more difficult or impossible to stay longer then a few months every year in Thailand with tourist visas and also ED visa regulation are getting much more strict. How about the Non-O visa runners who does not fulfill the minimum financial requirements for a 1 year extension and forced to do the 90 days + 60 days visit thing? Is this also something which immigration could consider as loophole or is it okay because you have a family in Thailand?

  13. Yes it would eliminate people wanting cheap way to stay in Thailand a long time and only have serious students on student visas.

They need to create a new visa class without the pretense of being a student for people with limited amount of money wanting to live in Thailand a long time.

I have met so many people in the classes over the years. My guess is that around 35% of the attendants are just come to live in thailand, so more then 2-3 years other 35% are mostly youngers (like me) who want to be here for 1-2 years or so. And just 20% had a work permit and really needed to learn the language for business reasons. So all in all I would say school going to be soon very quiet.

How many people do really seriously want to learn thai if they don't even have a chance to learn more of the country. But after all these new visa regulations you have to think if this country really the place you want to be?! If you want to stay longer then a few weeks per year you have to pay serious $$

  14. Have you tried to apply for the 60 day extension to visit your child?

They refused your ED extension which is only one that can be done for most people.

You don't have to have a non-o visa to get the 60 day extension you could make a border crossing and get a visa exempt entry and get the 60 day extension.

I wrote already that Immigration in Udon thani also refused to ge tme 60 days extension for visit thai child with a ED visa.

  15. Where is the problem? You are in a country which sorts out people who are using thai standard transportations and more prefer people who pay 500k THB for a 5 year 'Elite' card or get a wife or children here and even then you have to bring a fortune (for thai standards) to just stay with your family. You pretty much faced the reality that you are only welcome if you show $$$
