  1. Just heard the new BigC is going up close to the football stadium/athletics track and should be complete in 6 months.

    Seems an optimistic time scale.

Sent from my GT-I9003 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

On the large piece of open ground right next to it ?

  2. My wife tells me you have a nice waterfall there. She spent her early childhood there, with a wicked aunt.crazy.gif

I presume you are looking for something low maintenance, which tamarind certainly are. The buyer normally gives a price for the entire crop and is responsible for all picking and costs.

Maybe with 15 rai it might be better to have different crops, say 3 x 5 rai orchards. Just in case a crop fails one year. Take your pick from all the fruits. Dragon fruit was a favorite of mine. Expensive to set up but producing after 14 months.

Maybe even a crop share with a neighbour? We did that with 40 rai of maize for 200K Baht per year. (2 crops)

Search these farming threads. Good ideas abound.smile.png

    Regards.

If your wifes on about Sai Yok Noi waterfall we live about 3km from there. Dragon fruit may be a good idea we will get income from our rubber but want something low maintenance on that land just to stop it turning back to jungle

"...15 rai planted with Rubber but we lost them all. "

So what happened, 1 rai i would understand but 15 rai is hard to imagine.

    Fire

Lease it out for 500 baht per rai. 1000 baht if there is water and it can be irrigated. Low stress and you get your money up front. Take a couple of years to see if anyone local can make money and see what resources (tractor, pumps... ) they have. You could let them farm corn or rice, but take you share in grain and sell it yourself.

The problem with leasing is the only access is through our house. We let the people who worked for us before use the land to grow Cassava but they have moved on.

  3. You could look on the Pruksarkan estates, we lived on No. 3, rental prices 5,000 per month 2 year ago, don't know now. Situated on edge of Kanchanaburi on way out to Saiyok but easy enough to get into town. As you drove into No 3 you turned right at the mini roundabout but if you turned left plenty of places there and the estate the other side of the PTT station. Best way is to drive around and look for signs on the gates.

  4. Can't give exact figures as my wife sorts it but this past year my boy was 9yrs old and we paid approximately 60,000bt + uniforms, books in April then mid term break in October another 60,000bt. Can't remember a significant difference in his previous year. We take him home every 2 weeks, 1600hrs Fri till 1600hrs Sun. Don't know about every week you would have to talk to them. The master speaks good English so that's no problem.

  5. They do say that they "will aim to provide a same day service" !

All concerned Brits should make their feelings known to the Embassy. Complaining here will not achieve anything, unfortunately.

Lets hope so. I also doubt that complaining to the British Embassy will make any difference.

Complaining does make a difference, never had any problems getting my wifes Uk visa, then once they issued it and there was a mistake and the visa was useless, i made a complaint and when i re-applied they turned her down.

  6. I bought 12 rai connecting to the river Kwai Noi in Ban Wang Yai a couple of years ago.

Chanote title, connect with the river, 200 meters from the train station, sugar cane land....bought for 280k per rai. Absolutely gorgeous country.

We have built a house and planning to build a farm stay resort next year.

Good land with water is expensive here and increasing every year. Especially with the planned opening of highway to Myanmar opening soon.

Agree its a beautiful part of the country but its only expensive if you want to live on the river, Wang Yai 200 yards from the river and you can still get it for 20,000 per rai.

I'm looking to buy a little extra land in Wang Yai. Could you let me know where abouts this 20k/rai land is situated because the cheapest we have come accross is 50k....low land tittle and no clear road access.

You can PM me if you like but highly appreciated if you can you can point out this cheap land.

Wifes sisters just bought 40rai for 800,000, with the station on your left, straight past the school to the cross roads and turn right. Will keep an look out if anything else comes up.

  8. Sounds like another bearuricrat just woke up from a long winters nap (overslept also). They may want to consider a foreign effeciency evulation of the entire facility and get some useful imput. They might be surprised at what could be done with what they have, under qualified management, who had authority to sort out the various problems which have been apparent from the opening of this "tabernackle to waste/corruption"

Foreign efficiency? Now that's funny. I came through BKK airport last weekend and waited last than 5 mins at immigration. The wait at JFK is usually 30-60 mins. In KL I had to queue up for over 2 hours at immigration leaving the country and nearly missed my flight. UK also sometimes have long queues. This isn't a Thai problem but a worldwide airport problem.

Agree with you, did Houston 3 times last year, 2hr wait each time.

Came through Suvarnabhumi 3 weeks ago, first time since they'd put barriers up and the improvement was brilliant, through in 20 minutes.
