  1. Croc Yes Indonesia number number 2. Can't understand that. What a dreadful country. Rains ever day after 3:00pm. Isn't it 95% Muslim? All those gowned-up ladies. Not for me. Perhaps Bali is the exception but Ceuta is unwelcoming I found. Jakarta is a constant traffic jam. Just my experience.
  2. I know examples where sponsorship appears to be working ok at BaanJing Jai Childrens' Orphanage, East Pattaya, Banglamung. The point which has been made about one particular kid gaining special benefits above all others in an institution is very valid.
  3. Wombat has it right. Why are we paying any money at all to a union that we have left behind. Just don't pay them. What can they do ? Join this Union, Jack !
  4. DanaDeLuxe. Sorry could you elaborate. When you say that the antihistamines and the other application were deal breakers are you saying that these were total cures? Thanks.
  5. Aussieexpat Yes, true, its not fresh news but don't knock it as a useful and timely reminder. I for one was still unsure about the need for the $10,000 US dollar insurance. Now its been clarified for me as I have a ticket to return to Thailand next month. Just saying
  6. Jail for the owner and a bullet in the head for the dog. This is outragous and already the third case in a single week. It has to stop. Calling time on soi dogs is long long overdue. New Governor get on with it please.
  7. The UKPA cancel your passport on their data base when you apply for a new one so don't risk travelling. You may get stranded at a border crossing then you are well and truly in the proverbial.
  8. Moonlover was is "grandfathered". Do you mean that Immigration would turn a blind eye and accept that the over 75's are unable to get the necessary insurance? Just asking
  9. Dart 12 Wow that seems good value. I pay AIS about 299-399 monthly for a mediocre data plan which has many data warnings and stops at 5 gbs. Our internet at home 3 BB is 7000 baht a year (with a free month if paid yearly) to drive a set top android box. Can you PM me more details of the on line purchase please. Thanks
  10. Chalawaan. I not quite clear what you do instead of your annual retirement renewals then ? Are you proposing border runs instead ?
  11. Ubon Joe has confirmed in the past that Insurance for 30 days has been adequate on entry even with a one year's Non-O Retirement Visa with a longer unexpired period.
  12. Ubon Joe. Thank you as always very helpful. So I will apply for that insurance for 30 days prior to re-entering Thailand and pay for my Re-entry stamps as normal as in previous years at Immigration to maintain my annual Non-O retirement stamp. If I have that wrong then please let me know otherwise thank you very much.
  13. I want to ask Ubon Joe about my problem obtaining satisfactory health insurance at 77 years for re-entry. I have a Non-O recently renewed 1 year Visa based on 800K in the bank method. I want to go back to the UK in May month and return to Thailand in August. this year. I am hesitating to apply for re-entry permit which will require me to have valid insurance for $20,000 USD up to 31st January, 2023. Should I let the Non-O lapse by foregoing re-entry permits and enter back on 30 day Visa-exempt then reapply for Non-O Retirement during the 30 days or is that too messy. I will continue to leave the 800K in the bank untouched. Thanks in anticipation.
  14. There is an 11:00 am Ferry also now to the Port at Naban. This one not shown in the list.
  15. Ubon Joe. I always find your reports very clear. I shall return to UK in May this year after being in Thailand since August, 2019 due to Covid only. I have the one year Retirement Non-O but at 77 years struggling to get Insurance I think maybe I should not do a re-entry permit and let the Non-O become void. In England then, later in the year, I could do the 30 day Covid 19 tga.org and come back on Visa Exempt showing the Insurance cover for the length of my initial stay. Once here then I have some of the options outlined in these postings. What do you think ? Thanks in anticipation
  16. Is there no one strong enough in that country to control that menace.
  17. What a terrible thing. That child now left without both parents. RIP to those who perished.
  18. Chris B Remember Robert Maxwell of Daily Mirror fame, Ghislane's father ? " Did he Jump, did he Fall, was he Pushed ?" From the Ghislane Yacht. The answer will never be known.
  19. Take your insect repellant if you are going to Kanchanaburi. Lots of mosquitoes generated from the River Kwai. (Not its proper name).
  20. The TV soaps are full of families feuding. Kids soak up this stuff and think its normal family behaviour. You can see the kids and teenagers glued to the screens as soon as the shouting and screaming starts. Its supposed to be good TV but its complete rubbish. Could be that the granddaughter watched this sort of material. Just saying.
  21. Who would fancy Malaysia with all those full burkha females ? No thanks. I do not want to be in a country with a fanatical religion.
