  1. Hi all,

I'm also a wheelchair traveler and can inform you that all reputable airlines (don't know about LCC's) offer wheelchair service.

At time of booking you will have to ask for this service according to your needs (see below)

Airports do provide the service but the airline is paying for it.

Here are the different options available :

WCHR – Passengers who can ascend and descend steps and move in the aircraft
cabin but who require a wheelchair for distance to/from the aircraft

WCHS – Passengers who cannot ascend and descend steps, where the wheelchair
is required to/from the aircraft and the passenger must be carried up/down the
steps but is able to make their own way to/from cabin seat

WCHC – Passengers who are completely immobile and require a wheelchair to/from
the aircraft and must be carried up/down the steps and to/from their cabin seat.

This service is free of charge for the passenger.

    Hope to have helped

  2. If so, and you're willing to bring something for me (2 bottles of perfume) that I order via my miles I have a proposition for you.

A sizable part of my miles are about to be expired and unfortunately my flying days are over.

About 50K of my miles are yours to order from duty free through my account, details can be discussed by p.m.

    Please genuine reply's only.

    Thanks beforehand

  3. p.s. BTW it's not correct that return flights are different aircraft. Just have to choose the correct flights.

I looked at half a dozen return flights from CDG at random and every single one was shown as being on a 777 operated by Air France. As I mentioned, this is merely what I saw and so some attention may have to be given to find something better. Outgoing was no problem with the A350 on every flight.

Flying BKK<>LHR with Vietnam is much more straightforward as all flights are scheduled with their 787, though oddly they seem to route through either HAN or SGN depending on the day of the week.

    Daily flight from CDG :

  5. Thanks guys.

I should have mentioned that the reason for my rekindled interest in puzzles is, that I want to get away from my computer and have something to do with my hands other

    than fondle the wife tongue.png.

Anyway I have some friends coming over next month I'll ask them to bring me some.

    Thanks again

  6. As the tittle says.

My mobility is limited so the wife has to do the shopping and she can't seem to find Jigsaw Puzzles in the 1000/1500 pcs range.

Can walk short distances but I want to avoid going on a wild goose chase.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

  7. This article explains why an Air Asia flight was doomed. :http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/investigators-rudder-crack-action-led-airasia-crash-article-1.2451126

    "

An alarming number of rudder malfunctions caused by a cracked solder joint on the rudder’s electrical card went unchecked 12 months before the deadly crash, investigators revealed.

Investigators found the rudder's computer malfunctioned 23 times. "

Air Asia afficionados have been awfully quiet on this one.

Then by that same logic you shouldn't live in a third world country.

Next time before you give such a stupid comment you could first check what a 3rd world country is, and google as much as you like Thailand is not on that list.

Anyway notwithstanding some excellent comments on this topic, I do believe it's run its course.

  8. AFAIK the buggies are only used in the transit area and not land side.

You can book these (at a price) here : https://www.bangkokflightservices.com/PremiumAirportServices.php

I used to book them and they do give an excellent service.

However now since my mobility has deteriorated I use the wheelchair option provided by the airlines. This service at Suvarnabhumi is excellent.

If you can make it to the check-in, the service starts there, if not your driver can go in to get you picked up curbside, which I always do.

    Hope to have helped.

p.s. Just noticed you do need the transit option so BFS is the way to go if you want a buggy.

  9. PhuketFarang, that's why I am registered with some airlines, specially the Arab ones, to receive their mail where they quote their specials, often just valid for a few days.

Best experiences with Emirates, Ethiad and Qatar Airways.

What's the lowest you've gotten so far? I never considered going to Europe from here before but with these low fairs, I may start.

The lowest I got was BKK/AMS return in business class 64.000 Bath with Etihad.

Booked in June, flight this month (just returned last sunday)..

  10. Been there twice, they can't help. Even went to Customs here in Chiang Mai, also, no help. They sent me to the post office, who says they can't find it because it is not showing in the Thai system yet, but USPS has confirmed Customs has it.

    Incredibly frustrating.

Here is a link to some useful information regarding customs duties to be paid in Thailand for the goods sent from abroad by ordinary post of another country (handled by Thailand Post over here).

The Customs Department of Thailand: Importing Postal Items

If the goods' FOB value is below 1,000.- Thai Baht, the customs duty is not applicable.

If you don't want to pay customs duty for the goods whose FOB value is between 1,000 - 5,000 Thai Baht you may have them sent by the so called "Small Packet" International Air Mail Registered (the package weight not over 2 kg) and declare the goods FOB value 990.- Thai Baht.

Thailand Post will not bother to open and inspect the package.

Not correct, custom duties are calculated on C&F (cost + freight) basis, which is the correct value of the item at arrival in Thailand.

Anyway I receive at least 1 packet a week, mailed - Registered Express Airmail - to my wife's Thai name and the mailman allways gets a tip.

    Not 1 packet dissappeared !

  11. OK guys that's it, I've taken as much abuse as I am willing to accept on this topic.

And to carter1882 you've absolutely no idea how much I can spend, but I'm sure you would not believe me if I told you.

I'm not on Thaivisa to be offended, ridiculed etc. I was merely stating why I will not fly budget airlines, and I stand by my statement.

So go ahead as much as you like I'm out of here.

  12. Just to make my point about never flying budget airlines more clear here is my take on this unfortunate incident :

Fact : The problem with the faulty circuit board was known for 12 months and nothing was done about it.

Fact : The faulty circuit board caused 23 malfunctions in that period of time.

Fact : The crew did indeed exacerbate the malfunction but if it had not been faulty there would have been NO malfunction of the said part.

Fact : Who let inexperienced pilots fly the plane ?

I hope I've made my point.

one day we will die whether on the ground,in the sea or up in the air and for whatever reason old age, illness etc. that day is marked somewhere in the future so don,t worry about a triviality as this-next time you travel in any vehicle I suggest you ask to see the maintainance records and give it a thorough inspection yourself........................whistling.gif

Aha here we go. Do not attack the facts but attack the OP.

I'm 79 and fly reputable airlines only, maybe some of my longevity is thanks to that. tongue.png

Keep flying budget airlines as far as I'm concerned.

    You obviously drive a Toyota...?....thumbsup.gif

Toyota Vios, 9 years and counting, not one glitch except the regular new tires (Bridgestone) and battery.

Got it from my wife for my 70th birthday, but she drives it more than me now.laugh.png

  16. Again, this thread was not started for those that are happy with Pattaya- it's information for those that haven't been a while. That, after all, is what a forum is about- information and OPINION.

Everything you've written is an opinion not information.

Anyway I don't understand why you feel the need to express your frustration with the place you used to enjoy.

Seems like sour grapes to me, or the inability to accept changes over which you have no control.
