  1. Simply looking for a little balance in the way people on this forum portray Thailand. I fully acknowledge some of Thailand's successes. They deserve a great deal of credit for their restoration of historical sites, which is far beyond what most third world countries have done. Their road network throughout the country is impressive. Mass transit in Bangkok is also impressive. The development of a park system in the Bangkok region is commendable, as are improvements in air quality over the past decade. The improvement in the standard living of average Thais is quite remarkable over the past two decades.

I could go on. My point is that there are many posters in this forum that portray to the world that Thailand is a virtual heaven on earth. It's not. Each of us has our reasons for loving or not loving Thailand. There ought to be some balance in the way the country is portrayed. I didn't make up those headlines in my OP. The headlines are from this website, unedited.

Did I get scared away from Thailand by the "big bad reds"? Yes. I'd like to live the last decade of my life in safety and peace, and the anarchy (and there is no better word for it since nobody was in charge on May 19) is not my idea of living in safety and peace; it's really quite a fragile society. And yes, I got ripped off by "my squeeze". But if you read this forum enough, and talk to enough expats, you find that having that happen is not exactly a rarity. Again, the point of communication should be reality and balance. Please think of my contributions as one little piece of the puzzle to be put up there with all the other posters' comments, both positive and negative. Again, I didn't write the headlines. I just pointed out how many negative ones there were.

When you're looking for negatives you will find them.

When you're looking for positives you will find them.

I'm happy with my life in Thailand, but that's just me, and I don't really care what other people think, say or post on a forum. I'm quite capable of having my own opinions, idea's and appreciations.

I am solely responsible for the decisions I make in life and if they're bad then I have to live with it.

    Just my 2 cents

  3. Well Mclaren stole it and photocopied it then :D

But they got caught doing it and had to pay a hefty fine!!!

Well.........isn't that just dreadful and to think if Alonso hadn't squeaked Ron and the boys would have got away with it. What an evil evil little man he is.......right ?

Was it Alonso that blew the whistle on them?

How was he in on it?

As I recall BOTH drivers incl. golden boy Hamilton came (partially) clean only after they were given immunity. Food for thought?

  4. OP >I remember there are 3 exits, can anyone confirm for me the middle door #2 or is it B that has the purple Siam Commercial bank ATM and the AIS 12Call sim card counters?

The Taxi Meter, that in front of gate #3 correct?

    Thx <

    Nobody answered the OP.

I am in a similar quest for information. I'm picking up someone coming in on a thai Air flight from New Zealand. I want to give them instructions on which door to exit from the hall where the luggage is collected, then on exiting that door to turn right or left, to meet me. Last time I did that, it was impossible to get close enough to those doors to see people coming out and to know if they'd turn right or left. Getting from one side to the other in the arrival hall can be very daunting.

So, is the middle Exit door after customs "2" or B?

No matter from which arrival hall you come, the meeting point for EVERYONE is at door nr. 3

    Hope to have helped

  5. quote :

All told, she spent about 20 minutes with me. She could have just steered me to the fixtures and be done with me. It would have been easier. But she struggled through the communications to make sure I had the correct solution.

    Hi Bonobo,

It has been my experience in the 25 years living in Thailand, that the girls are a lot more service minded than the boys, (and no I don't mean THAT.)

I have had a lot more positive than negative experiences, dealing with Thais in general even without speaking the language perfectly.

A lot depends on your own general attitude and dress code.

    cheers

  6. So - really no input on this. I am amazed! I guess the topic was dull anyway and a bit of a spoiled brat-question anyway. Sorry about that lads and dudes.

Do not want to elaborate either. Suffice to say that Emirates - NEVER AGAIN -, and have become QR gold member since.

Re lounges for Qatar in BKK TG lounge - in Doha dedicated building for business and 1st class passengers, fantastic service.

    hope to have helped

  7. Muscat Airport is a mess. They do not inform passengers that EU and Americans/Canadians citizens must first buy their visa at the foreing exchange counter before you see Immigration. It cost 20 USD. You wait for 30 minutes at the immigration line only to be told to go and buy the visa first at the exchange desk next to them.

Overall, I would still recommend Oman Air simply because it is a new airline and they have good prices for my destinations although their customer service needs a huge improvement.

    Dear Max2010

Do you mean even transit passengers have to get this visa ?

    Thanks beforehand
