  1. Been there twice, they can't help. Even went to Customs here in Chiang Mai, also, no help. They sent me to the post office, who says they can't find it because it is not showing in the Thai system yet, but USPS has confirmed Customs has it.

    Incredibly frustrating.

Here is a link to some useful information regarding customs duties to be paid in Thailand for the goods sent from abroad by ordinary post of another country (handled by Thailand Post over here).

The Customs Department of Thailand: Importing Postal Items

If the goods' FOB value is below 1,000.- Thai Baht, the customs duty is not applicable.

If you don't want to pay customs duty for the goods whose FOB value is between 1,000 - 5,000 Thai Baht you may have them sent by the so called "Small Packet" International Air Mail Registered (the package weight not over 2 kg) and declare the goods FOB value 990.- Thai Baht.

Thailand Post will not bother to open and inspect the package.

Not correct, custom duties are calculated on C&F (cost + freight) basis, which is the correct value of the item at arrival in Thailand.

Anyway I receive at least 1 packet a week, mailed - Registered Express Airmail - to my wife's Thai name and the mailman allways gets a tip.

    Not 1 packet dissappeared !

  2. From a brief search it seems the term "TPL" is generally used to signify "Third Party Logistics" meaning dispatched by unspecified carrier.

So it would seem you are just going to have to wait to see who or what arrives.

    Sorry couldnt help more. sad.png

    Thanks,

Lazada is no help either, no reply to my query.

Oh well there goes my daily lunch outing, I guess I can survive a few days of rice with something bah.giftongue.png

  3. Whats TPL ?

That's exactly what I don't know. I ordered something from Lazada and the tracking number I received is TPL1000051951.

Since it is payment on arrival I want to make sure I'm home, to avoid a trip to the post office which is 13 klicks away.

    Anyway thanks your reply.

  4. Does Work Permit work the same as DL?

Yes, in fact logic dictates it should only be WP holders who get Thai rates as these are the only foreigner's paying income tax in Thailand, and thus contributing to the upkeep of the parks via their tax, a DL means nothing, as a tourist can get one, so this shouldn't be used as a measure of getting the Thai rate or not and its most certainly not a measure of " residency "

Your logic is not verry logical.

I have no work permit, but I pay tax on everything I buy plus tax on the intrest of my bankaccount (that's income tax).

  5. Just returned from a short trip to Europe (Belgium via CDG – Paris airport) with mixed feelings for the airline used. As many of you know I used to fly Oman Air almost exclusively but their schedule changes and price policies made me look somewhere else, in this case Srilankan Airlines, based on glowing reviews from some members of Thaivisa.

    So here it goes :

    Airline: Srilankan Airlines
    Ticket Price: Baht 53.200,- (promotion)
How Purchased (direct, agent, wholesaler, etc): direct
    Dates: 26.05.2015 return 30.05.2015
    Class of Service: business
Route: BKK – CMB – CDG – CMB - BKK
    Aircraft Type: 3 times A330-200 and 1 flight A330-300
    Seat Configuration (i.e. 3/4/3) on A330-200 : 2/2/2 on A330-300 1/2/1
    Stopover City (If any): Colombo
Check-in Location (good or bad?): BKK excellent – CDG good
Immigration (good or bad?): BKK excellent – CDG good
Excess Bag Fees (if any): No
Lounges Used: BKK – CIP lounge and CDG One World lounge (Salon Icare)
    Limo Service Provided: no
    In-flight Entertainment: poor
In-flight Cabin Service (good or bad?): excellent
Seat Comfort: on A330-200 good – on A33-300 very uncomfortable.
Food Quality: taste not to my liking so cannot judge the quality.
    On Time Performance: good
    Comments: plenty.

First of all I’m a wheelchair (WCHR) passenger and I have to say that the service at Suvarnabhumi is second to none, the service at CDG was very good on arrival less so on departure.

The service at Colombo was shambolic to say the least, ground staff is rude and unorganized, the lounge although recently refurbished is dismal, I had to remind the staff 2 times I was waiting for my wheelchair, and nearly missed the flight (doors closed immediately after I boarded).

And regarding the food, I dislike overly spiced food, I like to know and taste exactly what’s on my plate and the lamb curry and Tajine that I tried failed miserably. But that’s purely my personal tastebuds.

All in all notwithstanding the excellent service on board I will not fly with Srilankan ever again.

p.s. I don't understand what so many members here have against Suvarnabhumi. My experience tells me it outshines nearly all the airports that I know.

  6. quote : they offered a van and a ticket to Chiang Mai via to Don Muang which is much further). Got refund and 1,500 taxi but lost much more and hours and hours of time.

That's a lot more than what you would get from many an airline.

    Just saying.

  7. I always have my suitcase wrapped.

Since it's harder to identify my suitcase at arrival, I carry a permanent marker and write my name in BIG letters on both sides of the suitcase.

I don't think that anyone will go through the trouble of copying that.

  8. How can they confiscate A neckleace that you've had for 10 years.I've never heard of customs confiscating jewelry that you wear.I mean unless your wearing Lets say 10 neckleaces. My point how would they know how long that you've owned it?

For any item over a certain value (differs as per country) customs have the right to ask for proof of purchase. If not provided or purchased out of the country you will have to pay.
