Trite as it may sound: This Is Thailand and is your answer

Sorry but can't see how you are going to do it !
The water pumps that you see are for pumping from a water tank, how they would work on a condo's supply line is questionable
Do you have easy access to the supply line that comes into your condo would be the first question, the second would be the size of the line , and the third is going to be if the condo will allow you to install a pump ? Finally where are you going to put this pump, they arn't exactly small discreet units

Foreign owned and supervised and cheap.
They charge 3000+B per day of which the people who actually do the work probably get well under 25%.
If aircon technicians can spend 3 hours cleaning and servicing my aircon unit, with specialised equipment that they provide and including all travel costs, for 400B then I dont really see why I should pay some farang 380B per hour for "supervising" a tiler.
If it takes 3 hours to clean and service your A/C unit, you need a new technician
One of the good things about capitalism is that if you don't want to pay some farang 380B per hour for "supervising" a tiler you can find one yourself. You are not paying for the supervision, you are paying for him to find what you can't

Google Play Store. But it is a $24.99 app in the US. Appears pretty comprehensive, but if you look at the comments, it does a DRM check so you have to have a data connection to use it. Could be a problem for some users. Though the author responded with some reference to a possible workaround.
You didn't read it correctly, try again:
IMPORTANT: Our app uses Google Play Licensing, meaning your device must be on the internet for a few seconds, once every 15+ days.
Not really a war stopper or a major problem for most users

Could someone please explain to me why Thai students have to declare their major prior to getting into college ?
Maybe I don't understand how the system works but the TG's daughter had to declare what she was going to be (a teacher) before her "freshman" year. Now that it has been announced that there is going to be an excess of 50,000 teachers I am told that after two years of college it is too late to change that decision
When I went to college, oh so long ago, your first two years were dedicated to general subjects and you only had to declare a major by the 3rd year and so long as you chose the correct courses could change it up to the fourth year
Any thoughts or advice

Because they can, that's why
In a country with relatively no consumer protection this monopoly can get away with whatever they want
Have to add True to my don't use in Thailand list ( right after FEDEX)

This will give you two years to decide on things like bank accounts, living arrangements (rent or own), and other life style choices. You may end up not liking CM and want to go somewhere else. No reason to tie yourself down to one location
An extension of stay does not tie you to one location either. You can still move around Thailand with it.
Who said anything about an extension of stay ?
I just advised the OP to get it in the US for the reasons cited in my post

I'm sorry for the losses families and friends of the three.
On a side note...why the mention of them using cell phones? Has it been proven somehow that lightning follows cell phone signals? I'm not trying to be a smarty pants...just trying to understand.
Then read post # 4 if you really want to understand

Like others above I would suggest a O-A Multiple Entry from the U.S. Embassy in Washington DC or Consulate in New York because these two locations don't require the documentation to be notarized ( LA and Chicago do)

Yes, another useless headline.
The US has had absolutely no luck in finding or capturing the Central African warlord Joseph Kony, so I am sure that this effort is going to be just as successful

The TG brought this up this morning and used it as absolute proof that using a cell phone during a lightning storm is what caused the lightening to hit
She doesn't take much comfort in the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) report that states:
lightning is not attracted to people carrying mobile phones.
“Cell phones, small metal items, jewelry, etc., do not attract lightning. Nothing attracts lightning. Lightning tends to strike taller objects,” said John Jensenius, a NOAA National Weather Service lightning expert.
“People are struck because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. The wrong place is anywhere outside. The wrong time is anytime a thunderstorm is nearby.”
The concern that mobile phones attract lightning was first raised a number of years ago in an internet hoax and is now a recognised urban myth.

Let's hold off judgement on whether or not the author violated any copyright restrictions on the photo. She may have signed a release to the photographer who took the picture and the author may have paid the photographer for it's use
Don't you think that the Thai Girl in the above photo from Thai Love Links.com signed a release for her photo to be used in advertising for that web site, and if paid for, don't you think that the copyright holder could use it for another advertising program that she may or may not like. A release is a release
But you have to laugh at her naivety thinking that reporting something to the Thai police makes any difference in the rest of the world
Hey puff brains this is a civil problem, not a criminal one

Sounded to me like the OP already had the monitor and was just interested in buying a new Mac desktop

And lots of money, it is expensive there

The desk space that you are talking about is occasionally occupied by one of the Immigration Office volunteers

I had a small book case made at Home Pro in the Big C complex on Pattaya Klang several years ago. Back of the store on the left hand side. They had a good selection of wood boards and make what I wanted fairly cheaply
Sorry but I can't guarantee that they still provide this service

Buy the computer in the US, take it out of the new box so it will fit, put it in you bag, collect your bag from the carousel when you arrive, and walk through the GREEN channel when leaving the baggage claim area. If questioned, which I have never had happen, just state it is your personal property and since you don't have 10 of them the inspector will know that it belongs to you and is allowed into the country without the payment of any duty. Do you think that every person that comes into this country with and expensive camera, laptop, tablet, or any other electronic item declares them upon arrival ?
Why is everyone making this so difficult, especially the poster who states that you can only import "personal effects" duty free only once. You can import personal effect as many times as you come through the airport. Only Thais are given any kind of "duty free" privileges when returning from an overseas business or government assignment and that is for cargo shipment
Where do people get this idea that a non immigrant visa , an O or O-A, includes any duty free import clause because it doesn't

I don't understand why you cannot get a lease on your condo.
I have life time lease for 99 years, which I renew every 30 years. That basically means I have to pay the taxes every 30 years.
I'll be 150 years old 99 years from now. Can't wait!!
Sorry, MantisMan but you are late to the party. The OP wants his ex girlfriend to give him a lease to the condo that he purchased in her name so that he can sell same
As far as what you say about your lease, if you have one for over 30 years it is not legal. The longest period a private lease in Thailand can be is 30 years. It may have a clause that it can be renewed for an additional 30 or 60 years but that clause is not enforceable

I definitely check craigslist. I don't want to live in the sticks or some small town that doesn't have PHO! Like I said, if I move back, I except the typical American experience -- WITH A CAR. When in Rome. We all have priorities and we all make compromises, even very wealthy people can't live more than one life. Of course I'm still open to hearing about reasonable compromise places that might exist where driving isn't required, but not expecting it.
Just on my radar
Charlotteville, Virginia.
Famous historic university town.
So culture, some liberal people, etc.
Obviously not that far from Washington, D.C. (which I know really really well)
They have pho and seemingly good Chinese food which means there's got to be Asian grocery stores too.
A little north for my ideals.
Some neighborhoods very walkable.
Would probably still need a car really, it's in the USA, but still.
Superficially the rents seem not too high.
Virginia is in the news now as a possible Medicaid expansion state ... the governor wants to do it and might force it on their legislature. Maybe.
Hmmm!
Anyone here spent time in that town?
Just remember the tax situation in Virginia, not only do they have property taxes and an income tax, but also personal property tax on cars, boats, etc.

I don't see how this newest idea is going to solve your problem of gaining possession of the property that you paid for that is on her name. Getting a lease from her, even if transferable, will just make it harder to sell to a third party. Admit that you screwed up and move on. There is no reason to throw away any more money for something that you will never really own

The danger might be from the 'air rage' from my sitting next to you having to listen to a one sided conversation for several hours

So conversations between two passengers on a plane, be it mindless chatter or discussions about ending world hunger, have been disallowed? I'm waiting to hear the announcement about "please cease all conversations for the next 12 hours, if you need anything please use sign language."
As if one person talking, be it on a phone or to their seat-mate, is somehow "different".
In the U.S. we can use our cellphones to make voice calls as soon as the plane touches down on the runway.
Unless the aircraft is outfitted with specialized communications or antenna equipment, traditional cell phones will not work if above ~ 5,000 feet, assuming there is a cell tower below/nearby.
These are not silly "deductions" but have been verified by numerous passenger surveys conducted by both airlines and the FCC
When you are talking to a fellow passenger or even to another person on the ground if you are too loud they will say something. Not going to happen on a cell phone
Using your cell phone once you are on the ground is only going to be for a few minutes, not a couple of hours like on a flight

Some LTD's in the smaller towns will not accept the farang yellow house book check first. Otherwise you will need a Certificate of Residency from your local immigration office (cost up to 500 baht). That same CR can be done at most local police stations (cost maybe 100 baht) BUT some LTD's only accept this letter from your IO,check again.
Thanks khwaibah one of the main reasons posters here always justify jumping through all the hoops to obtain a Yellow Book is so that you can register a vehicle without needing a Certificate of Residency
Good to know that the Yellow Book is not necessarily a one-size-fits all solution which may not be worth the trouble if difficult to get
Thai Cabinet to conclude the first car buyer policy

I am still waiting to meet a real "first time buyer" who took advantage of this scheme.
Every Thai I know, just used it to get a new car or truck and then sold theirs, resulting in a glut of used cars with the attendant price drop
