  1. Back on topic

police Captain Santiphon Phuwadonkanok (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of an assault that had taken place directly in front of the Pattaya Police Station on Soi 9, Pattaya Beach Road.

You would sort of think that if you are going to cause trouble you might want to pick a spot that is not in front of the Police Station :)

  2. " My bank (Westpac) never sends anything to my old address in Aus."

There is your answer, the old address is what the bank has on file and is the address that the account is linked to and is the address that you should use since you are most likely given the option of a "Ship To" address

Billing Address is a security feature to insure that you are who you say you are (in that you know the "billing" address)

  3. See this post in the huge Thai Banks To Start Charging For Atm Withdrawals ..., ... where a foreign card is used. thread which details a test where the same US issued Bank ATM card produced the same exact exchange rates for 4 different Thai banks

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Thai-Banks-S...t&p=2674882

Kasikorn Bank, no fee, Exchange rate 35.34

Bangkok Bank, no fee, Exchange rate 35.34

Bank of Ayudhaya, no fee, Exchange rate, 35.34

Government Savings Bank, no fee, Exchange rate 35.34

  4. OK, I used the search function and found this thread

I was told by the salesman handling the sale of a new car from the Toyota dealer, Thaiyont Chonburi ( Pattaya Branch) that I am to bring my Certificate of Residence as well as 636,546 THB cash on the day my car is to be picked up

Anyone know what will happen if I show up with a Cashiers check for that amount since I am not thrilled about carrying that much cash on a Baht Bus ?

  5. Since you are driving use the SCB bank near the corner of Pattaya Second Road and Pattaya Klang, diagonally across the street from Top's Supermarket / Bowling Center

They will swipe your card in the main bank and will give you as much cash as your ATM card will allow, they offered to give me 200,000 THB, unfortunately my US bank had a MUCH smaller daily limit

  6. When people make the decision to retire in Thailand why don't they accept the fact that they are going to grow old , get sick, and eventually die here ?

Why all the talk of running back to the home country

  7. Those who are reporting that they did not have to pay duty you just got lucky

    http://www.customs.go.th/Customs-Eng/House...old#requirement

    # Note : Nonresidents entering into the Kingdom with a non-immigrant visa "code O" who wish to retire in Thailand or accompany spouses of Thai residents are not qualified for (1) Thai Residents: Thai residents may import the secondhand/used household effects acquired abroad duty-free if such household effects are accompanied them in the change of residence and they are qualified under the criteria listed below:

    1. Thai residents or government officials work or carry out a working visit abroad for at least one year. In case where the Thai residents/government officials must return to Thailand before one year, evidence showing that the return is caused by the termination of contracts, reshuffle of positions, or early termination of working visits, is required.

    2. Thai residents working abroad under other reasons than those indicated in (1) are required to undertake a commitment that they shall return to Thailand to resume residence.

    3. Thai students, government officials study abroad for at least one year.

  8. There are many answers to the OP's question here at TV, but the most accurate one is here

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Certificate-...t&p=2876147

This applies to Pattaya and I would think applies to most areas of Thailand

I would prefer to pay 200 THB to Immigration rather than spend 1020 THB at the US Embassy in Bangkok

    2 photos

    200 baht

    Passport

copy of front page of passport

copy of visa page of passport

    House book

    Copy of house book pages

And if you don't have a house book I am sure that a utility bill or lease would suffice

  9. Yes, see a doctor and don't listen to someone on the Internet

Narcolepsy is the disease that will cause you to fall asleep driving a car or motorcycle

Have never heard of Sleep Apnea causing you to fall asleep while driving :)

  10. It depends where you are in Naklua, but a while back CAT laid new cables there and there have been reports that their service is very good (though perhaps not very cheap?). It's worth popping around the CAT office on South Pattaya Road (just east of the junction with Third Road) and asking what the quality of their service in your area would be like.

And do you really expect CAT to be truthful ? You should check with your neighbors, only they will know what is good for your location

Internet here in Thailand is VERY location specific, so check in the real world

  11. It is no secret

Head down the road that leads to Utapao Airport (off of Sukumvit) and just continue straight and once you see the fuel dump you will keep to the left and the road will take you to the beach, no gates or guards to go through and there appears to be plenty of parking

Gets busy with locals on the weekends but is quiet during the week

  12. You are never going to get a VGA signal that will be fine enough to read small print on a TV screen. An HDMI connector on your computer supposes that it has a graphic card that can provide you with a signal that is more compatible with a TV

I send my VGA signal to my LCD TV using a VGA cable but my TV accepts a "PC" input which is fine for watching movies or TV shows but I use my computer screen for text
