I thought that too but luckily for them she probably only has 5,000 and is clueless about defamation laws here which are usually used only by the rich and famous (and government depts, police and army) to save 'face'
She used the money from the massage shop to pay back the restaurant for the lunch bill she refused to pay. -
I think everyone on here is concentrating on one type of rape. There are different types. Sexual penetration, with an object and digital rape (finger) all are rape. He is a masseuse, did he slip a finger
She said he used a condom. You think he put it on his finger? -

She should have been taken to hospital for a test straight away, then the mystery might be solved, however if she kicked him and he stopped, the gun may not have fired and no evidence.
Taking an oil massage with a male masseur in Patpong is a bit stupid , however no one deserves to be assaulted in this way.
She said he wore a condom and that neither of them had any physical marks on them. She also said she took a proper shower directly after. I don't know whether rape could be medically established or not.
I would guess that something did occur at the parlour, I also think she may be a bit of a nutter over the restaurant affair.
3600 BHT for a meal is a pretty good meal, maybe they got overcharged for this, I have had that happen .
Stay away from Patpong and red light areas dear you seem to attract trouble.
She said she thought the meal was free because she went there directly after the rape, told the staff she was raped, and one staff member said "enjoy the buffet." She thought this meant it was free. She said then the staff was being aggressive in demanding payment so began assaulting them. -

Have walked by 101 and never went in. It's a little hole in the wall tiny restaurant with no frills, but their prices suggest otherwise.
I previously enjoyed Devilish a lot, but now their service and quality have dropped while prices have risen. The menu has also changed for the worse.
The Italian place is ok.
Steak Lao on 103 is pretty good.
Korea BBQ in one udom suk is pretty good.
Cat and rabbit cafes are fun to do once.

related question: My actual visa is from a non-formal school, but I'm currently on an extension from a formal government university. Is it going to be a problem getting another extension?

I study at a university and my in class requirement is only 6 hours a week.

Thailand doesn't want young foreigners with money, because some people would slip through the cracks and work illegally as English teachers or tour guides in their native European language or some other similar job that most Thai people are 100% qualified to do if not for these dastardly foreigners.
They prefer lots of elderly Pattaya sexpats on retirement visas instead. That is how you maintain a positive image in the eyes of the world.
Really. The preference given to elderly men on pensions who will soon need healthcare they can't afford will never make sense to me. -
I changed from muay thai to university and kept the same ED visa, but this was last year

OK so while theres much specualtion..
Where is this actually happening ?? I see Samui and Jomtien mentioned..
Any indication its more than a random few events and may become a countrywide requirement ??

Last year I didn't do the tm30 and didn't get fined. I think they're enforcing it now.

I rent a condo, and the owner is very worried because they say there's a new rule that they must submit some paperwork by August or they'll need to report to the police.
All because a foreigner is renting their condo.
Is this true that anyone renting to a foreigner must register that fact to the govt now?

Even if you don't work illegally. It's not allowed to do 10 border/touris visa runs like a lot of people doThen they should go after the companies employing people illegally.
Rather then attacking people at the borders, where they have no proof either way if someone is working illegally.
There has never been a law against that.

Am i being even dimmer than usual or is this article flawed by a fundamental error ? It is linked to the most recent changes in the Visa rules - aren't they all about stopping Back-to-Back permits to enter Thailand, NOT Tourist Visas obtained at a consulate ?
The goal is to create a panic that makes everyone head for the border. Just like what happened with Cambodians.
It seems to be working.- 2

Guys just ignore the slanging match and just focus on good confirmed info.
I don't know how the mods put up with all the sniping and slurring on this site.
Me neither. They allow it but don't allow off topic posts.

Even for those who want to work legally with a work permit, these restrictions could marry them to one company or school.
If they want to change jobs or companies, they have to leave the country immediately. They then will not have the proper paperwork ready for their next job, and may not be able to get back into the country because they don't have a proper visa and aren't tourists.
I can see teachers becoming semi-slaves to their employers because they can't easily change jobs. These employers then could withhold pay or be otherwise abusive because they know their teachers will be out of the country without their job.

So very glad to see this coming into effect. Now maybe all these sots trying to cheat the system will finally come into line with reality.
I suspect this attitude is coming from the retirement community, who think their visas are safe.

What percentage of apartments in BKK and other place are purchased by foreigners? With the real estate boom languishing - the last thing needed is a few billion baht a month looking at other markets. Who wants to buy real estate in a country which in any way threatens access to ones investment?
This applies to me. I was going to buy a condo before this crackdown happened.
If I'm unsure whether I'll be turned away at the airport, I can't put that kind of money into this country.

They've made some recent statements that suggest the crackdown was initiated to target Russians, South Koreans and Vietnamese who are working here illegally.
I would guess they will be a lot more strict with non EU/UK/US/Aus passports.

Attention for Tourist and Transit Visa Applicants :
I hereby declare that the purpose of my visit to Thailand is for pleasure or transit
only and that in no case shall I engage myself in any profession or occupation
while in the country.
Seems like they are providing you with a suitable warning and that by signing that you are certifying that you are not taking up long-term residence
No, you're certifying that you can't get a job with a tourist visa.
It doesn't say anything about long term residence.
