I wish people would answer the original topic and not waffle off subject. If people want to discuss mobile phone deals please start another topic. Thanks.
This is an open forum. The thread is about making international phone calls. You're requirements have been taken care of with the recommendation of a Zay Hi card from the post office. For other peoples' benefit, and I'm sure most readers are interest in making international calls, I don't see a reason why the thread cannot talk about alternative options.
So, the other option (and one that's open to the OP) is through thre prefixes 005, 006, 00600 (poor quality), 007 and 009. They all seem to change their prices quite a lot, and True's 00600 is terrible beyond use quality wise so I usually use 006. Are there other prefix options that are available?
COMPLETELY WRONG. 2 years using 00600 prefix on True and never had a problem.

In Singapore and Malaysia, do OS come standard on computers?
Or is it just like Thailand were no OS is installed.
In Malaysia operating system was the latest one and genuine, didn't know about Thailand not having one.

I lived in Kuala Lumpur for a few years and when I needed to go for a visa run it was either Singapore or Thailand, looked at prices for laptops and they were cheaper in KL than Singapore, Thailand didn't seem to have the choice albeit I used to only go to Southern Thailand.
In KL I bought mine in Low Yat plaza, about 5 floors of stores to choose from and don't forget to haggle with the price as well as asking for freebies, memory stick. lock, programs etc.
Mine came with an international warranty and used it when I was back in UK for a short time, no problem. Remember to check out the keyboard layout as they do differ and it can be annoying having 2 laptops and different layouts.

Can I use TrueMove sim in a public phone box as no-one of us have mobiles? Why bother with a public phone? Just give it to someone when you don't need it any more!
Why not get one in Tesco's or somewhere similar, can get them for a 500 baht or so....doing offer here 2 for 1050baht!
Would anyone really use a mobile to call a foreign country? They hardly work within the country, I couldn't imagine trying to call another country!
I call the UK 3/4 times a week and the calls usually last for 15 - 30 minutes, never had a problem with my mobile using True International Sim card.

BELL BUS ,
located LHS on the ground floor @swampy
circa 250 bht .
Bell Travel Service, you have to book on-line in advance to make sure of a seat, they take you to Pattaya Bus Station first and then transfer you to your hotel on a mini-bus. The cost is 200 Baht.

I think this should be under the travel section, "Visa" section is not visa and mastercard!
The answer to your question is yes, debit cards as well as credit cards are accepted by Air Asia, bear in mind that some airlines do ask to see the card when you check in.

Just where is it.
Is it the one close to the UN Irish pup?
Yes, head further up the road from UN Irish and turn left at the lights and its on you right hand side about 30 yards away.

I went there yesterday for the first time, the host and hostess were very welcoming, have you met Graham from the Pub? The yorkshire puddings were the best I've had in Thailand, the presentation of the food and the portion was excellent value for money, 200 baht. I'll certainly be going back and would recommend people to try it.
I went yesterday too...great Sunday lunch, but the menu says its 275 for Sunday Lunch , and that's what we paid, worth every baht, but its not 200B
It certainly is 200 Baht, don't know where you get 275 from?

hello,
I am new to the forum since i am moving to chiang mai once i get my visa. what is the cheapest flights to bkk return from chiang mai. sorry for such a basic question. i could check the web but are these the best prices......
cheers.
garry.
I presume your are bringing loads of luggage with you so I would suggest you join Bangkok Airways Frequent Flyer Program, do it on-line, and then you are able to carry 30Kg check in and also hand luggage.
Usually the flight is just under 2000 Baht one way, Air Asia do have some cheap promotions but by the time you've added on all the extras, it's probably not worth it.
It's also worth asking the airline you're flying with to Thailand if they will check the luggage straight through to Chiang Mai. They will not do that if your flying with Air Asia but may do if you're using Bangkok Airways.

Bangkok Airways is a low cost carrier (whose flights to BKK on the day I want are cheaper than either Nok or Airasia) yet they manage to offer both baggage check through and the issuance of boarding passes for all legs of a flight to the UK included in their price. Pity their last flight is at 7pm as I said.
I agree, no charge for 30Kg of luggage as well and the use of a lounge.
From their site.....
Q:What is the luggage allowance for Bangkok Airways ?
A:We allow 20 kgs for adult/child, 10 kgs for infant and 30 kgs for Frequent Flyer Member (FFP).
Yes! Sorry, your point is?

The Shangri-La hotel just south of the night bazaar had a very cheap all-you-can-eat Italian lunch deal a couple of years ago, though I'm not sure if they still do it. The menu was a selection of pasta dishes and pizzas made-to-order, plus cakes (one I still remember had a small chocolate part that was covered in gold!). The hotel venue itself was ultimate luxury. It was a treat to hang around the different parts of the magnificent hotel after the satisfying meal. What all-you-can-eat deals do they have there these days?
It's Monday to Friday 11.30 - 14.00 299Baht++
There is now more choice, as said, pasta and pizza, salad, soups, sushi and a choice of 4/5 hot dishes, western and asian plus a wonderful choice of deserts and ice-cream.
I think it was around 170 THB when I went 2 or 3 years ago, but it only had a small selection as I mentioned above (some pizzas, some pasta dishes and cakes), but it was still a bargain for such fine luxurious dining. It's probably the most luxurious restaurant and hotel I've ever dined at (though the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Devi buffet which I intend to try some time may change that).
With all those extras it now sounds like a full and varied buffet, so around 360 THB (after tax & service charge) is not bad.
It was 199 Baht last year when I first went but the increase is justified with the new dishes, you can also apply for their gold card, free of charge, which gives you 10% off.

Isn't it fun to be a busy body and get up in everybody business.

Making food and selling it - sure it's a breach of a work permit.
My criteria would be, was it delicious....if so buy another.
I'm not sure immigration are such busterds that they would clamp down on a school kid buying a sandwich.
Thanks for the honest answer Uptheos. My son has not yet bought the sandwich as I said I would look into it first. The preparer of these blackmarket sandwiches is a farrang teacher not a student, hence the concern. With all the recent flurry involving locking up musicians we can't be too careful.
Not sure they locked up the musicians, they certainly did not lock up the audience that were listening to them, so why would someone buying a sandwich be in any bother?

I use TrueMove international sim card.
I use the prefix of 00600 which has never been a problem with quality and it costs 1 baht per minute to a landline and 6 baht to a mobile in the UK.

My mouth is now watering to try the roast beef and the roast lamp and the yorkshire pudding and the roast potatoes, probably 15 years since I had any of the above.
Only one problem. Where is the Pub? Please advise.
It's just opposite Rincome night market on Huay Kaew Road.

So... producing a copy of my passport tattooed on my ar*se is unlikely to 'satisfy' local police?
It won't do if the passport has expired.
It will do if the policeman is gay.

<div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div> Just bought eggs from the source you mention, begins with an "R and ends in ..ping" with a "best by date" of two weeks hence. Tried the water test and all of them were old and lay on their sides, indicating that they were not fresh. My experience thus far is that eggs at the local market are far fresher than at supermarkets (big c extra and tesco). Don't know if that holds true as a rule or just bad luck on my part.
Only thing that worries me about the markets is them sat there in the heat. Rimping's eggs seem hit n miss, freerange or whatever. Spose the supplier can put whatever date they want on the carton, and actual packing date doesn't mean squat anyway unless it's right out of hen into carton. One thing I do miss is seriously good eggs and bread, oh, and beer.
</div>
Do you mean that the eggs laid on their sides at the bottom of the water? If so then that's the sign that they are at their best.
If they float then throw them away.

My 1 year Temporary Motorcycle Licence is due to expire on the 24th November.
What is the procedure to make it a 5 year licence, what documents, if any, do I need? Do I re-take the test?
I'm out of the Country from the 22nd November till the 5th December, can I renew it before I leave the Country or will I be able to apply when I arrive back? In other words is there any lee-way from the expire date?

This Guy hasn't used a mobile or landline for the past 8 years, obviously doesn't need the Family and Friends package!
The attitude of your response makes me ashamed to be British, why be so ignorant, just go back to the town you came from! I'm sure I've met you in Wetherspoons on a Tuesday afternoon.
