- They didn't asked me for passport, WP or any document
Because you don't need one, you are Thai!
Congratulations!

Got 2 licences today. 1 for motorbike and 1 for car. Valid for 2 years after which some minor formalities will secure 5 year licences and after that more minor formalities to secure indefinite licences.
I believe this is the standard route for Thai nationals as well. It is for my Thai wife anyway.
They stopped the indefinite DL about 20 years ago. I was lucky, I got in before then,

Driving drunk ( if that is the case) he deserves all he gets, stupid old bugger, at his age should know better.
CONDOLENCES to the poor girls family.
At that age he probably has dementia or some other affliction, possibly even alcoholism. Show some compassion.

If it was Thai killed Thai, then a solid Wai and some baht to compensate would be all...
This guy however, is gonna get a roasting, which if he was drunk then he fully deserves !!
No excuse for it but then no excuse for double standards either ?
There are no double standards for farang v Thai. I know some farang who got off with this kind of thing and some Thais who didn't. It's more about who you know and how much cash you have. Also, if you are a naive newbie or not.
I hope the old guy gets treated compassionately, like most Thais do. There is a thing here called karma that many should learn about.

Hi all, i got one question regarding taxes, since i know the the threshold is 40k which is exactly what i get, i was wondering, if i file taxes for 40 k but i apply for various tax returns which would make my tax seem like as if i had lessor income will that make me not eligible for that particular year? or the 40k threshold is for taxes submitted initially and not for the tax minus the tax return which i get every year. I wont file for my return if thats the case. also due to several double taxation agreements and my profession for being a teacher , my tax is exempt in the first two years so i am sure i will get all of my previous two years paid tax back , will those years qualify for the threshold?
I assume you mean tax allowances, which would mean on a salary of 40k a month, you'd pay practically no tax, if you have kids at school, wife, retired parent-in-law, mortgage, insurance, etc.
All that matters is the 40k - you are paying the tax due on this.
Why are you exempt from paying tax for 2 years? Then you have nothing to get back???

Thanks to all. I've just checked my visa and it has my occupation and place of work written on top of it, which leads me to believe that my visa is dependent on my work. Checked again with my new work and they said there is no way they have ever been allowed to continue a WP on the same visa.
It is an awkward situation, as Gary says above.
Another option is to resign but keep my visa and WP until the MOI interview, which should be within the time, but that could cause lots of complications down the line! Maybe better, just hang on for a few months and hope my new employer can wait.
If you are married, you could change your visa to non-imm based on marriage, without leaving the country. You can work on a non imm o visa.

I know a Yank who was touring the UK and got free treatment after a heart attack. I, a UK citizen, am refused free treatment as I am a non-resident!

Why should they even write it in English?

I travelled world since young, and Asia since my 30ies, and it is a bit shocking to see people discover life so late, and of course most discover the bad pages to feel life. Sad
As one said before, life is more than shotting tequilla and ladies in need. Well, if that is what it takes to feel alive and seen, then go hard go long, or as long you can. But, when the dope is gone, most fall lower than where they started. Just a little hint to Ron, the illutions will fade.
Well said, I moved here in my mid twenties, after travelling much of the world. A very sad video. Who is Ron? Where I live, most of the miserable guys are those who moved here already financially sound. Maybe they think they are better than the rest of us, and certainly all Thais?

interesting point, once an individual person has been approved to be granted PR (not that easy to achieve) perhaps some years back
What makes it so hard?
I remember when I was looking into it, it was about 9,000 and then Taksin raised it to something ridiculous which made it not worth it, IMHO.
Citizenship is the way for me, which I estimate will cost a total of no more than 15,000 baht.

But for me the priority when these incidents take place is protecting my rights as a Thai and my dignity as a human being. I agree with the missus that the mistakes are understandable but see them as caused by doltishness and racism and thus not deserving of my sympathy.
Absolutely, well said and thanks for being part of the fight for equal rights!
I've just found out that my bank has not being paying me interest for years. When explaining the law to a woman there, she said she would change it immediately but not to ask for back payments(I wonder why?). Not sure what action to take on this as it is about 30,000 baht that is due to me, and probably much more from other foreigners.

He seems to think he can score an O visa.
I only mention upcountry because I'd heard that things purposely get overlooked or just follow na less stringent playbook. Yes, realize the DB is online.
Upcountry schools need to get the waiver from Bangkok.
Surely if he comes back, after being away for some time, he'll not need a waiver.

Disgraceful.
Then again when you have a SOB (Presidentially used term) like Louie Gohmert in congress who must have an IQ less than 60 what can you expect from the current Republicans. Listen to Gohmert trying to suggest that Mueller protected radical islamists. This guy is such a pos.
What about the FBI allowing only one family to fly out of the US after 9/11? The family of the guy masterminded the attack. of course, they wouldn't know anything about the crime. How come the FBI were not allowed to put any Saudis on the suspected terrorist list? They are corrupt to the bone, read the real news and not the crap that is allowed on the US networks.
The CIA also ignored warnings about the risk, giving preferential treatment to Saudis. but yea, just forget about that, the CIA and FBI are always squeaky clean.-

Change the Constitution, it ain't rocket science. Anyone selling a gun to a minor, 30 years in jail.
Anyone caught with a gun, HUGE fine and confiscation.

I hope that your application goes smoothly as your officer has indicated. For me, in the end, I just want to get past the MOI hurdle before the lifelong politicians get voted back into office.
I don't think it is a hurdle, quite easy I heard.
