  1. Those cheaper places are great when you're taking a Thai girl and she wants to bring "a few sisters" (guess who's paying the bill, heh). Also I am happy with most food options and glad to benefit from a short walk if I can save a few baht too.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

To the guys opposed to this question, please don't take my update as a defense against your own spending philosophy (It's not; I don't respond to people who take offense or lay out their own worldview over little things).

  2. Living near Central Festival I usually get a 70+ baht meal from the food court downstairs. Sometimes I will also head to a 7/11 to get a 40 baht crab fried rice or something similar. But of course 7/11 has no seating so it's back to the apartment, which defies the whole point sometimes.

I avoid street food after 2 instances of upset stomach (one time severely painful). Also they have no air con.

Is a 40-50 baht meal with fans or air con in the building to be had anywhere on 2nd road, or is this strictly reserved to 3rd road and beyond?

I may even be willing to walk to Buakao if it's close to the Klang (pattaya central) side

  3. My True internet connection has gone done about 4 or 5 times in the last 2 weeks. I'm starting to wonder if the 600 baht per month is worth it when I am tethering my phone to my computer and getting a better (although costlier) connection.

I can buy 3 gb a day from AIS for 50 baht. I usually don't go near that. 20 baht for 500mb is also an option (though that might not cover me some days), It would be a little annoying to have to make a call every day, but if 3g and 4g is extremely reliable I just might. Do you guys think phone data plans are good enough these days to use as a primary internet connection?

  4. I'm looking for a good phone with above-average call quality. This is for a business purpose so price is a secondary concern, although I would like both high end in midrange options if you guys have suggestions at different price tiers.

Most of my calls will be internationally routed so signal strength is a real priority. I use AIS in Pattaya. The type of phone is not too important although I assume most recommendations will be android smartphone.

    Thanks

Most of the time the business you buy does not own the real estate it sits in. Often the property is leased. A business being sold for a few million baht probably doesn't own a freehold chanote.

There are some exceptions to this, but that's roughly how it is.

I don't know about Thailand but in the US hospitality businesses generally include the real estate, as the building and land are integral to the business itself.

  6. Yesterday my landlord and I got into a dispute over a bill. It was resolved but she started personally attacking me and I responded in kind (I know, bad move). Now she has shut off my water even though the bill issue was resolved.

This is a lower end apartment (5k/month) and I've already paid for the next 2 months. Now I'm wondering what my options are as I now have to go to bed without brushing my teeth or a shower. I am very upset about this and will probably move out ASAP.

    Questions

    1) Is turning off the water on a whim allowed in Thailand? In the US such a thing is not (I know, not the US)

    2) Do the police have any ability to get her to turn on the water or return my rent for the next 2 months if she tries to evict me early (frankly I want to leave).
