  1. Most actual 1/2 bedroom places are to Western standards with prices to match. I've only been able to find 2 places at the lower price ranges, a 1 bedroom (with a balcony deep sink) for 8,500, and a 2 bedroom with no kitchen at all for 9,500. Both in the general 2nd to 3rd road area (where I'm searching).

Does anyone know of Thai style buildings that have separate bedrooms in this price range in between 2nd and 3rd rd?

  2. I'm looking to move soon, total route is only 1 km but I have a lot of stuff so will need the help of movers with a truck. Can anyone recommend a company (or even a couple reliable guys?)

I am moving from south of Klang to a little north of it, still on 2nd Rd.

    Women so cheap

Wow, mongers must be earning so much now to be thinking that. Having been off the market for over 8 years I was astounded as to what they were asking now. Can't give specific prices ( due to TV rules ), but it certainly wasn't what I'd call cheap.

Considering that I can still find food and accomodation in Pattaya at basically the same price as 20 years ago, a 100 to150% increase in 8 seems excessive.

Wait til you see the prices in the west then. It's all relative, to be frank I wish they were even cheaper!

  4. I put on my game face today preparing for a wave of stares and "<deleted> is HE doing here reactions," and encountered none at the secret cafeteria. It had the lowest prices I've seen anywhere.

I had a chicken rice with egg for 35 baht and then a green tea (sweetened) for 15 more. This place was a great find and I thank the earlier posters for sharing!

  5. I heard there was a crackdown on tour buses, supposedly because they were marketed as 0 baht (no spending required).

This begs the question: who has authority to allow/disallow tour businesses to operate? In other countries if what you advertise is legal, you can still ply your trade even if it caters to cheap people.

  6. I found the food place on the westmost side of the parking garage, floor 2.

The interesting thing is they are open a full 3 hours before Central Festival.

Knowing how the Thai brain works, they will be uncomfortable serving a foreigner while the mall is closed. We'll see what happens!

  7. Those cheaper places are great when you're taking a Thai girl and she wants to bring "a few sisters" (guess who's paying the bill, heh). Also I am happy with most food options and glad to benefit from a short walk if I can save a few baht too.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

To the guys opposed to this question, please don't take my update as a defense against your own spending philosophy (It's not; I don't respond to people who take offense or lay out their own worldview over little things).

  8. Living near Central Festival I usually get a 70+ baht meal from the food court downstairs. Sometimes I will also head to a 7/11 to get a 40 baht crab fried rice or something similar. But of course 7/11 has no seating so it's back to the apartment, which defies the whole point sometimes.

I avoid street food after 2 instances of upset stomach (one time severely painful). Also they have no air con.

Is a 40-50 baht meal with fans or air con in the building to be had anywhere on 2nd road, or is this strictly reserved to 3rd road and beyond?

I may even be willing to walk to Buakao if it's close to the Klang (pattaya central) side
