  1. Went to immigration this morning. They have set up a desk in the car park so need to go in the office or queue. Only too 10 mins.

Glad you got yours sorted out online. I will do mine earlier next time. Lesson learned.

Is your lassitude the fault of JI? In fact you have elevated both the queues and risk you complain of by dragging your heels... you had approximately 80 days to prepare!

I have no idea why it fails for the OP, but I have used it numerous times saving a tiresome trip to IO, I wish they would make many more requirements possible from home. Requiring Re-Entry Permits being one, the 3800 required for a multiple I could do after the extension is rather rich.

What if they have asked to see your bank book to confirm you still have the 800k in the bank when you do your next 90 Day.

You can get a Re-Entry at the airport on your way out.

    Have a nice trip????

    What tosh.....

Do it on-line and stay safe!

I tried that but had missed the 7 day cutoff.

There were a hundred plus people queuing outside JI this afternoon! Will go back and try again another day!

I you are so knowledgeable, perhaps you could provide a detailed explanation the OP.

  4. So they have taken some responsible action by closing bars to stop people mixing together, but they still require 100% of foreigners to cram together in a relatively small office to complete the 90 Day report. In my case so I can confirm that I am still in the same house that I have lived in for the last ten years.

    Totally insane.

  5. Can anyone offer any advice regarding the procedure for completing the 90 Day Report Online.

Would seem a better alternative than going to a crowded office.

    Thank

    Oink

  6. Can anyone point me in the direction of a radio repair shop. The sound from the DVD thru the amp works fine. Seems to be a aerial signal problem. Have tried Tuk-Com but they only seem to deal with computers.

    Thanks

    Oink

  7. There are wooden furniture shops which manufacture to your requirements. They would probably build the speaker cabinets for you.

I am on the "darkside" and there are three close to me:

At the top of Khao Noi just before the Khao Talo junction

WoodRus between Khao Talo and Suggestions restaurant.

    One opposite Suggestions.

  8. Can anyone recommend a good bike service shop on the "Darkside" Preferably Khao Talo, Khao Noi area.

Whenever I get my 135 Yamaha "serviced" they only change the oil despite me asking for them to check brake pads, oil and fuel filters etc.

They don't seem to understand the concept of a Service.

  9. I went to do TM30 this morning as I to Hua Hin for the weekend. I was told that if you are on a retirement extension (or any other long term visa) and travel within Thailand there is no need to do TM30 when you return to your permanent registered address. You only need to do it when I return if I go out of Thailand.

The officer had three stars on her shoulders, so it is not as if it was coming from an admin assistant.

  10. Did a TM30 today for guests staying at our house for three weeks.

Arrived at 10:45 and got a ticket, went and had a coffee outside as you can hear them calling the No's over the outside speaker, all done by 11:20. Very smooth. There is nothing to pay!

  11. I have seen gooselings and turkeys chicks in Chatuchak market.

Should be full size by Christmas.

On the bright side, you have got seven months to find one.

<deleted> just noticed that this post is 11 years old!

Good question, I have several thousand dollars US that I could use to buy gold in Pattaya. Will the US customs try to take it away from me ? Charge $$$ to bring it back in? Customs and homeland are probably anti gold, the bullies.

VAT (sales tax) is not charged on gold in Thailand. If you were taking the gold to the UK and it was declared/found, you would be liable for 20% (VAT) on the value of the gold. If it is 96.5% good luck on trying to sell it at a future date.

They only recognise 9, 18 & 24 carat. 96.5% or 23 carat is what they call "yellow metal" and will only offer a very low scrap gold price.

Hawaii is in the South Pacific. As Hawaii is a state, it's citizens are of American nationality. Most Americans in Hawaii are not native Hawaiians. It's an unusual case because Hawaii used to be an independent nation.

Enough with this already. This line of discussions represents a HIJACK of this thread. Yes, I am culpable as well for engaging with you.

    But enough already.

    JUST STOP. ????

Back to the BAHT BUSES nationality encounters please.

    OK its a deal.

When I find myself on a Baht bus I wont talk to you about America and you will not listen to my conversations! ????

People of Mexico, the USA, and Canada are all living in North America but only the people of the USA are of American nationality. Is that too difficult for you to grasp?

Really don't get it, what are Hawaiians then. Polynesian Americans in the same group as the Nigerians and Ethiopians?

    A sub species of Americans?

What about them? The majority of them have no idea of the specific nation that their ancestors came from because of the legacy of slavery and/or those nations didn't exist at the time their ancestors got on those slave boats.

If you're talking about Americans from Africa of more recent migration, they are generally NOT referred to as African Americans but rather Nigerian Americans, Ethiopian Americans, etc. Seriously, you didn't know that already!?!

Non-Americans telling Americans they can't call their own nationality what it is just too rich. What do you want us to say? United Statesers? That flows off the tongue real smooth. Also the implication that continents and nationalities are the same thing. They are not. At least this is something unusual that should unite all Americans -- the freakin' name of our collective nationality!

You could say that you are all North Americans, but that would really annoy the Canadians! And the poor Hawaiians would be really lost as they think they are from Polynesia.

Please don't waste the space here with such cliched ridiculousness. I've traveled to both nations. They do not refer to their nationality as AMERICANS. They are Brazilians and Argentinians. If they filled out an immigration form and put down American as their nationality they would be confronted as being full of the brown stuff, and you know it too, so who do you think you're fooling? Next you will be telling us that the people of Zimbabwe as they live in South Africa are actually of South African nationality. They are not.

The only NATIONALITY that are Americans are from the USA.

    What about African Americans

  17. I got one last week. Went to Dr. Oliver as thought it may be cheaper than hospital. The receptionist told me "no have go to hospital" without even looking up from her mobile phone.

So I went to Bangkok Pattaya Clinic on Sukhumvit opposite Big C. Best bit is no hanging around as it is a quiet place.

Baht 790 including Dr. consultation to write prescription, taking Weight, Blood pressure and temperature.
