  1. It has been 'usual' for only the last few years :)

Agreed, the last time it was terrible was back in march 2007. Could barely see the sun through the smoke 30km south of Chiang Mai.

The last four years weren't that bad, especially last year with rain and very fresh weather in mid march.

  2. If I had a million dollars it wouldn't be that much in my home country (Switzerland - Valais). Barely enough to build a home in a quiet place and pay taxes.

And, as unbelievable as it sounds, I feel much more secure in northern Thailand than In my hometown invaded by hordes of fake refugees (thank to the Shengen agreement) .

I' ll definitely prefer to live here than in the nightmare imposed by the lazy Euro - fanatics.

I'll die here rather than living in a place where locals. elderly get less help than immigrants. (most of them involved in illegal traffics).

believe me or not, UE and the swiss leftists successed in making this place a third world zone.

  3. Visit this page and see which version is installed in your PC.

If not up to date then download the latest version.

The table below contains the latest Flash Player version information. Adobe recommends that all Flash Player users upgrade to the most recent version of the player through the Player Download Center to take advantage of security updates.
  4. I have been taking taxis driven by reckless incompetents in Thailand for 30 years and have never died in a flaming car wreck so I would say NO, you don't need to wear a seat belt.

    From WHO website:

There are an estimated 200 000 cases of yellow fever (causing 30 000 deaths) worldwide each year. Small numbers of imported cases occur in countries free of yellow fever. Although the disease has never been reported in Asia, the region is at risk because the conditions required for transmission are present there.

More people die from virus they get in hospitals than from yellow fever, so avoid hospitals at all costs. whistling.gif

  5. Installed it on both my iMac and MB Pro over Snow Leo. No problem so far except some apps (that I didn't used so much) rejected in a "Unsupported Apps" folder.

Great to use with the Magic Trackpad. I use the mouse only for games.

  6. You're right about the age limit for drinking.

But why these teens were left on their own drinking Spy in a beach bar ?

Read the last line of my previous post:

let the teens go out and drink without proper care.

The owner of the bar is not to blame, so many weird farang come here for holidays. Or do you want thai bar owner be in charge to educate the westerners about the dangers of drinking - swimming, driving dangers in Thailand ?

Blame the parents and that's all.

  7. The store owner that sold the Spy to the kids is doing it again today. No responsibility at all.
Sad news but is the guy who sold a big bike responsible for the dumb driver who crash in a wall ( drunk and with(out) helmet ) and die ? The best the bar owner can do is add a banner " Don't drink and swim" on the wall of his bar; but who will care if a red flag cannot alarm the few brain cells of some teens.?

And I forgot to add that the people to blame are those who let the teens go out and drink without proper care. These people should be put in jail.

  8. I have an iMac 2,8 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 24", 4GB RAM, 320 GB HD nearly 3 years old. And unlike some people say, I have to replace the hard disk the first year and it took only 2 days at Apple Mac Zone in Chiang Mai. Never had the slightest problem since.

I have also a Mac Book Pro 13", 2,26 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HD more than 2 years old, never had any problem.

Never got a single virus and I don't know what is a crash. The iMac is running 24/7 and the CPU is usually around 47° C.

  9. OS X come with any language you would like by default.

The keyboard will be thai-US though.

Lion will only be available through the Mac App Store, ∼ 4 GB.

  10. Not many people have the CBR for rent (that I could find). The only place that had it is Tony's Big Bikes. Can't remember the road but basically the road opposite the moat end of Loh Kroh (on the other side of the moat). Walk down there (you can't turn into it from the moat road going north).

If in doubt, ask around the motorbike rental along Tapae Gate (ont he outside of the moat road). They will point you in the right direction.

Price is normally 800 baht per day excl insurance (100baht per day). But he did it for 800 incl. I rented it for 2 days.

CBR 250 R rental place I saw, they have two of them.

On Ratmakka Rd about 50m before Moon Muang RD on the right. Right in the center of the map.
