  1. The best thing about CM is the surrounding areas. Get your own wheels and start exploring, if you feel confident enough to drive.

I agree, living near San Pa tong there is a lot of place to go for a one day trip. Lampang, Lamphun, Mae Wang, Sang Khampeng, Mae Rim, the Mae Hong Son loop through Pai - Mae Hong Son - Mae Sariang, and more and more. So many places to visit even if it's not famous, but you can find beauty everywhere if you open your eyes.

Of course the city is not the most interesting part of the province.

  2. I would make comment but your judgments aren't worth defending. I'm not asking how to talk to a girl, I'm asking for a decent place to meet one. Not a sleazy bar, just a cozy chillout place. If you can't suggest one, maybe your being around the block hasn't exactly panned out for you.

Sorry for you but there is no place where you'll be sure to meet a "good girl".

You can find her anywhere, even in a gogo bar. Take time to meet people and you'll maybe find the pearl you're dreaming of.

Do you know where to meet good girls in your homecountry ? So don't ask here in Thailand, it's just about your attitude to attract some girls and build a relationship. whistling.gif

  3. As abhorrent as the murders are, why do you call these people terrorists?

Are they fighting for a political cause, or are they just in fact, pirates? (Who have been around an awful lot longer than terrorists).

In my view people who attack sailors, kidnap them and then kill them are terrorists at least gangsters. When it's an isolate event it's called piracy, but now near Somalia it happens more than often. These people are clearly islamist terrorists.

Just want to expand their territory, expand the religion of peace tolerance and love. Sorry, I'll not swallow the lie.

  4. I'll do my best to sort out a map tomorrow, (not very good with that sort of thing,) anyone that can help me out and post a map of where the West Side Pub is would endear themslves to me no end :D

Frankly I have never been myself, so I gotta find it as well :ermm:

Here is a Google Map showing Wang Sing Kham Road, just point the West Side Pub on it. :)

And the link to the website is Hilltribeinthecity, your adress in the post #1 is wrong.

  5. Time to get a Thai drivers license............

So as to not waste a whole day, can any members tell me exactly what I need to take to the Department of Motor Vehicles (pictures, documents, etc.) and also where the building is in Phuket Town? Is it near Immigration or the Labor Department building?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers.

Been quite a few topics in the past. Quick search ...

The instructions I got from the Department of Motor Vehicles in Chiang Mai last month to get the thai driver license. I got the licenses for both car and motorbike in less than 2 hours.

  6. Seems back to normal this morning. All sites, pages and images that were blocked yesterday and required the CTRL F5 refresh are working fine this morning (so far)

Yep, it's also back to normal here. I cross my fingers though. ;)

  7. What is strange to me is everything works fine in the evening but is a nightmare during the day.

I couldn't even open the TV forum and other websites all the day, but now, 8:40 PM everything is fast. I've tried many browsers with the same results.

  8. My own personal demands are a)music - it has to play the sort of music I like and if the Issan staff suddenly start playing pong lang, hooting and doing that thing with their fingers like they're combing a goat then I drink up and move on. If I want that I'll go to Udon. (Although I have to say that visitors who have never seen this before find it ethnic and interesting and like to see it.)

I have to say that listening to local music in Thailand doesn't offend me, I even listen morlam and lukthung at home and I like it.

Are we in Thailand or in some western club playing this terrible techno music ? Do the girls (most of them from Isaan) enjoy the music and therefore have more fun with the customers ?

    <deleted>, you're in Thailand annoyed.gif

  9. I typically only make as much as needed. Or the least possible. Only use lemon, lime came out really weird :bah:. Sometimes I add a little english mustard powder, give it a little bite.

Yep, I always add a touch of "Moutarde de Dijon", yummy. ;)

  10. Don't only blame the Thais. How many Farrangs are driving here trunken or without an Int. Driving License. How many Farrangs drive big bikes without a license?

It's a mix of bullshit driving!

I agree, while the thai drivers are not the smartest one, to many foreigners drive a bike here without any knowledge, license, no proper protection (at least a decent helmet) and more than often drunk. Very sad but they will learn the hard way. rolleyes.gif

  11. I'm also on a non-Imm "O" visa. I just got my thai driving license for both car and motorbike the 12th January at the office near the Big C in Chiang Mai. Everything done in less than 2 hours.

My swiss driving licenses were issued 24 years ago.

I brought with me copies of my passport (first page, vis page and immigration card, stamp), original and copies of my swiss driver license (bike, car, bus, truck) AND international driving license, proof of residence from the Immigration Office in Chiang Mai (500 bahts) and a medical certificate (100 bahts).

I had to pass the color, braking and the other weird test with the two white sticks to align and that's all. Then went to take the photo and 5 minutes later had the two temporary 1 year driving licenses in my pocket. Total cost, less than 1000 bahts.

  12. It is indeed possible, I have one of these "devices" myself, and it does exactly what the OP asks for: http://www.invadeit....tation-p004115/

From what I see it's just a switch. Better to unmount and unplug the external disk from the A computer and plug in to the other one B computer. Save 800 bahts.

I don't believe both computer can share the same external hard drive at the same time through an USB connection.

  13. Don't ask me where, out of the 100's of websites I've browsed, but on ONE of them I saw a tri-color version. Not sure if it was a photo shop or not. The same red/white/blue, but in a different pattern than the 150.

The tri-color version is available at least on the french and swiss market. And it's the CBR250R 2011.

But there is no silver and no red versions for these countries. The black model (all black) looks better than the thai model though.
