  1. Neither will the Army. Even if it's on video that they fired live rounds straight into the crowd of demonstrators..

    http://www.france24.com/en/20100411-exclus...-thailand-crack

Why post propaganda crap? Where in the video do you see anyone firing live rounds "straight into the crowd of demonstrators.."?

I am seing military shooting at an angle that seems to be above the level of the military person.

I.e, if the crowd is positioned at a distance they might well be shooting above the crowds heads...

And.. the million dollar question... why isn't the cameraman filming the crowd as it's being hit by all the bullets?

  2. And tell me who are the red guards shooting at in the window?

If the third hand is the black clad men mingling among the reds then who is in the window?

Could be anyone. Like PAD militants? Anti-red lunatics. A lone maniac.

It's probably a mix of persons from all parties in this mess trying to stir things up.

But I find it quite disconnected to think it's the government or the military as they don't want to escalate things.

  3. Let me see if I understand this..

    1. The millitary rob the country of its democracy by staging a coup. To free the country from cronyism and bring about a real democracy.

    2. The red side, who has been in power for the most, looses power when it's coalition partners switch side.

    3. The country's political system goes thru partial corruption cleansing and almost all parties are dissolved and it's politicians are banned.

    4. The reds rob the country of its democracy by staging a peoples coup. To bring about a real democracy.

    Next..

    1. Thailand experiences a severe financial crisis (1997).

    2. The Democrats take some hard decisions and because of these loose popularity.

    3. Thaksin uses that dissent and comes to power just as the economy recovers.

    4. Thaksin is ousted and the Democrats come to power during the next financial crisis (2009).

    5. Thaksin returns (maybe) to power when the economy is on the rebound and can claim that success belongs to him because of his wisdom.

Whoever it is writing these scripts is a marvelous entertainer. :)

  4. As I understand it this donation to the Democrat party took place before Abhisit was at the helm. The ship is sinking and it is taking an outstanding captain with it....

Abhisit deserves a better end to his career.

Is it possible that Abhisit won't be banned then?

No, Mr. clueless, there is no way out. He was the deputy leader.

I fell still a litttle bit sad for Abhisit, he was promising.

On the other hand it was crystal clear what the EC will recommend the dissolution.(Crystal clear at least for that super smart objective me, i spotted no-one else at this English farang board who saw the signs)

This makes the loss of the last weekend even more terrible. Abhisit turned to be one of the worst PMs Thailand ever had.

The govt supporter at this board who still supported Abhisit left the field of democracy and started to spread ugly lies resorted to disgusting propaganda spins.

They deserve all the mockery that will come over them.

I am profoundly impressed by your geniality.

But you must be a real jack of all trades, as you at the same time will have portraid yourself as immensely stupid for not seeing the signs, should the final verdict go the other way.

Keep painting buddy.. you'll reach the corner in notime. :)

  5. The truth is that Abhisit lost face yesterday and had to regain it somehow today. His "strong response" and attempts to take back the rally sites have resulted in the deaths of Thai people :)
Abhisit has now joined an elite club of Thai leaders that have ordered the army and police to shoot on their own Thai people. :D

All human beings have one brain and two halves. Some use the left one, others the right one.

And then there are those who refuse to use any altogether.

  6. The only thing reasonable for Abhisit to do is to resign.

Not because of demands by the red shirts, but because hope for democracy is gone.

Any goverment, without the police or military in their toolbox, is helpless against thugs with opposing views.

Thailand is not ready for Abhisit.

So let the fools run the country.

  7. Good post . My gf is from nearby Khorat (small village) and of course pro Thaksin 100%.

The dems REALLY need to get their story out .

What story would that be ?

Have borrowed money and put Thailand into debt but nobody knows where the money went ? Have committed electon fraud and got away with a Yellow card only (thanks elite) ? Have put the eilte first and the people and democracy in second place ? Do not care about the concerns of the majority of the Thai population ? Are happy to be put into power by the elite when the people never elected them to power ? Have likely received illegal donations and should be dissolved but are managing to keep that under wraps and prevent any resolution being made on the case ?

The truth of the matter is the last elections were held under the control of the coup appointed government. Massive amounts of money were spent "educating" the PPP area's in why they should not vote PPP it seems. Massive amounts of intelligence gathering was done on all PPP candidates, where they went, who they spoke to, what they did etc..

And yet, even under those conditions PPP won.

If elections were held now for sure PPP would win with a big majority, which is why the "appointed and not elected" present government do not want elections.

Follow the UK example, call an election in a month and dissolve the House.

Why be a part of a discussion if your only aim is to flame?

  8. This makes me sad to hear.

Martin will absolutely be missed. Can't think of how it will feel going to FC and not seeing him around.

He was a very nice person always trying to make other people laugh and feel good.

    R.I.P Martin.

  9. Hi all,

I have a legal issue I'd appreciate som help with.

According to http://www.rd.go.th/publish/6044.0.html foreign companies have to pay tax on income from Thailand.

The wording is "Foreign company not carrying on business in Thailand receiving other types of income apart from dividend from Thailand"

And the tax rate is 15% of gross reciepts!

    Here's my question.

A Thai company engaged in a project in Europe has hired staff from a European company to deliver work to its customer. The customer is also a European company.

The Thai company paid its invoice for staff hire outside of Thailand.

No money acctually entered or left Thailand.

No Service or acctual work for which the payment was made took place in Thailand.

Is my company, the staff provider, liable to pay tax to the Thai Revenue Department for the invoiced amount?

    Is the Thai company?

Or is this tax only applicable to income for services rendered in Thailand and/or monies recieved(transferred) out of Thailand?

  10. which half wit school did you go to

I went to several half wit schools. Should i list them all?

Sorry about advising you to ask your husband.

I was under the impression that it was a thai girl asking.

    My misstake.

  11. Lampard,

You're right! There are quite a few farangs living in Sang Kha!

Not at all like in Prasat where I've been the past few years. Only a couple of us out there.

Actually there are around the same number of Farangs that live in A.Prasat as in A. Sang Kha, maybe more. See what I mean about not knowing your neighbours. Anyway it's about time you paid us another visit.

I'd actually guess there are more of them in Prasat than in Sang Kha.

See you in a few days.

    Best,

    Valerian

BTW, would you like a menu for your website? :o

    :D

    Prakanong,

You could look at WP's issued - thats how we get the figures in Singapore (plus dependent pass of course) - nah forget I said that as there are probably a tiny minority on WP's

You could add retirement visa's to that as well - by nationality

Then you have those living there permanently or semi-permanently on Non-Imm "O" and Tourist Visa's

Good idea! Only questions is... where do I find those figures ?

    Best,

  13. Hi,

I wish to hire staff from an IT firm in India and send them to Europe for a 4 month project.

The India based IT firm will invoice my Thai Co Ltd and I will invoice my European customer.

Will the payments to my provider in India be subject to Thai withholding tax?

  14. You could apply for an "emergency" Work permit provided they are not here more than two weeks working...We do it all the time to bring in technical specialists to fix O&G equipment, the turn around on these WP's is about 2 days, the Thai law as far as I can see doesnt differentiate distance work from other work...the person is working in Thailand...therefore needs a WP

Thanks for the information about the 'emergency' WP.

The foreigner in this case, a friend of mine, wants to apply for a WP.

He just doesn't want to set up a local company.

Can he apply for a WP for work in a foreign company without an office or representation in Thailand?

    Best,

    Valerian

  15. Hi Tomkagai,

Set up a company in Thailand to service the the company outside Thailand and get the WP that way, it can be done..

That's the way I have been doing it for the past 4 years.

My question relates to a person who comes to Thailand to live for a short time and who wants to perform

distance work while being here, without setting up companies and without breaking any labour laws.

    Best,

    Valerian
