You go to the hospital, you have to pay the bill. It's a no-brainer.
..
I never heard of anyone being treated free of charge in an hospital but I could be wrong. I'm also interested to know what is the experience of other posters.
In Norway it's free if you spend at least one night..
And btw, when I went to a thai hospital I paid like 120 baht for consultation, x-ray and medicines.. (which they had to get paid by the government for somehow)

I'm not an expat, but I like most of the places I've been to in Thailand and thinking about moving there some day. I like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Kantharalak, a village in Sisaket province (not going to say which one ). Pattaya and Khon Kaen aren't on my return-list.
As long as you're nice and not rude it's hardly a problem getting to know the "locals", even in Bangkok.

If I'm eating I would prefer people going away from the table before blowing their nose.
I chew with my mouth closed, If other people do I don't know, I rarely look at other people while I'm eating. To be honest I have enough with concentrating on my own food. When I'm eating spicy stuff sniffs aren't uncommon though. But I would strongly prefer people sniffing a little bit when eating spicy food than blowing their nose around my food.

I blame the teachers, and those who market things like 'fluency in 3 months'
"Hard slog" is a truth that never sells in any market.
