  1. I have lived in Thailand for a few years now. I will not visit Kho Tao until they solve the murder. Not out of fear but out of principle. I don't do Pattaya, Phuket, or Krabi either because of the assaults and murders that have gone unsolved or misrepresented due to the power influence of the perps and/or the concern of the effects on Thai tourism money and/or the nation's image.

If everyone did this, we might finally see a change. The money involved in such a boycott could be enormous. BUT NO ... the masses keep blindly pouring in, UNKNOWINGLY, by the millions. All continues with no change. And more loss as a result.

It is incidents like this, unfortunately, that get international attention, that can inform the world that more than the odd unfortunate circumstances happen to Non-Thais in the LOS than people realize. Enough people and we can finally get Thailand to CLEAN UP THERE ACT. BUT NO ... the masses keep comin in by the millions. There is simply no motivation.

Western journalists should do more coverage on the death statistics of non-thais in thailand. The stats would reveal a very interesting story. Ex. Balcony suicides! I mean c'mon. Something is not right here.

Also, think about some of the Thai statements concerning this matter that have already been made. Three Non-Thai media exposed investigations and one huge media statement about "No Thai Could Do This". AND how the weapon, a hoe, is getting little attention and as well as following up on "The Bar Incident" involving an angry Thai local.

This story is big ... it's being aired right next to Scotland's Elections on international news. It is very likely "they" know how devastating this could be to Thailand in so many ways if a local turns up the killer. Unfortunately, cost benefit analysis may very well overcome justice in this instance .... UNLESS a very unique form of international pressure takes place.

Hence : Big famous news reporters do a huge investigative piece on Non-Thai victimization in the LOS. Especially while the Junta is still in place ( a little better chance at change than before ). Just my 2 baht ....

what Bar incident, ?? That s the first time I heard about it.

If they had trouble with someone in the Bar why this Person is not questioned??

Thais are well known for those kind of revenges if they loose face..

  2. anyone who is in Thailand long enough knows people get killed for no reasons, what about the story last month with the German Guy in Samui was it or was it not Thais who killed him , because he said they should get off his motorbike?? (Is it a Reason to kill someone?)

    Wrong time wrong place

Maybe he or she said something they , it was late in the night, and there you go

that she was raped was probably just in affect, how many times have we heared storys of raped western Girls after Full Moon Partys etc.

Raped by Thais.... NOT Western Tourists.

some Thais can be extremly cold blooded and kill for nothing

Anyway in my opinion are the killers long gone

probably left the Island the same day early morning.

  3. The Thai police could redeem themselves to some extent by tracing where the money went, taking it back with a court order, and refunding it to the people who lost money. Oh sorry, just woke up from a dream..

Would be curious to find out what the ownership structure was. Had to be some heavy hitter Thai people involved, I suspect the news stories will not be naming them... :-)

Well yes, but no if the Account owner withdrew the money Cash and deposited it on a other Bank in a other Name or Co. Name..... The money is gone forever there is no way they can take it back..

  4. You should register the condo as 'sin suan tua' in your name (if your money)

That is assuming the condo has not entirely sold the 49% available to foreigners.

I seriously doubt they would register it as sin somros, as that would call into doubt which percentage foreign/Thai the property would be registered. It's either yours or hers not both.

    @InterestedObserver

The documents at the land office are not a contract but a declaration of 'sin suan tua' or 'sin somros' and therefor not subject to the decision of a divorce judge. That's why they need to be backed up by the bank transfer documents.

    @OP

Declaring the condo as 'sin suan tua' does not affect inheritance, it only affects division of assets on divorce. Explain again why you would want it jointly registered, this is not normal practice (I don't think it's even possible).

After I got all my documents they asked me for, we will forward it to the Land Department, if they give us the green light we will proceed, but if they don t accept. I have to change the Contract into my Name, as far as I know the Foreign Quota is not full yet. To register the Condo in Sin Suan Tau in her Name is out of the Question for me.

The Risk to lose it all in a divorce is just to high.

  5. Well if it would be in my Name I could let her sign the Sin Suan Tau Paper, but this is not my goal as we have Children too.

I went today to Bangkok Bank Headquarter and they will Issue a Bei Rap Rong for me, I don t have Foreign Exchange Transaction Form (FET) but I do have Credit Advices (just transfered small Amounts over the Years) the Credit Advices Cover the Total Amount of the Condominium Price as stated in the Contract.

The Clerk at the Bangkok Bank Headquarter told me, that I don t need the Foreign Exchange Transaction Form (FET) and that the Bei Rap Rong they will Issue is valid at the Land Department.

I Contacted the developer today and told them that we will register the Chanot with My and my Wifes Name I hope everthing goes smooth this time..

Has anyone experience with Condo Purchase, just using Credit Advices????

  6. Long story Short, I bought a Condo in Hua Hin, we had a appointment at the Land Department last Wednesday, the Condo Chanot supposed to be in my Wifes Name but I wanted to have it registered in a Sin Som Ros Status (Matrimonial Property) and not in a Sin Suan Tau (Personal Property) of my Wife, they wanted me to sign the Letter of Confirmation of Sin Suan Tau but I declined as a result we could not proceed.

Can anyone give me advice what documents I need to have it registered in Sin Som Ros Status?

(I know I can register it in my Name, but I wanted to register it as described above as the Contract is in her name too)

  7. There never was a rule of law in this feudal kleptocracy .

Move on , nothing new here .

This little turd will never see a prison cell .

He knows he is above the law, so why should he bother going to the police station when he is summoned for questioning ?

Why he should go to Police for questioning???

I m pretty sure he has a very good Lawyer, there is no need for him to speak with Police he would probably just incriminate himself further.

Any Issue can an most likely will be cleared in Court or in a out of Court settlement.

    SAD BUT TRUE...

  8. Particularly in Thailand since there are no laws are on the books for men who like to get off and make babies are hunted down and forced to pay financal support..'Unlike the west where large percentage a man's salary may be attached or thrown in Jail if they fail to financially support children whom he help foster into theworld, there-by putting the total weight & financial burden 100% percent on the woman, what alternatives does she have in light of and in view of total lack of education and the necessary skills to be a productive individual in a society which is governed irresponsible and imature men.Until more women get into grass root politics and obtain political clout to change the rules of the game...NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE.

A man would never get away with that kind of crap in the western countires, especially in the U.SA. coffee1.gif

and periodically the man would be taken to court by the woman for increases in child support based on a record of his salary increases if any, usually win. coffee1.gif

Specially in Thailand no woman is forced to get children....There are plenty solutions to not get pregnant and they are well known and as well abortion is legal in Thailand.

Abortion is not legal in Thailand, except in the case of pregnancy as a result of rape, or if the mother's life is in danger as a result of the pregnancy.

Right and why would anyone go to a illegal Clinic if it would be legal and you could just step into any Government Hospital and do a abortion??

  9. as a previous Poster said, it could be possible that the Name of him is spelled wrong on the Birth Certificate and this would be a big Problem to clear without the mother again (I had the same Problem my Family Name and Nationality was spelled wrong on one of my Sons Certificate)

if he cannot clear that issue at the Amphoe he cannot do the acknowledgement of paternity at the German Embassy and as a Result the child would not get the German Citizenship and obviously no Passport....

    Can't understand this post.

The Amphur office are supposed to copy the names from the parents marriage certificate (if one is a foreigner) or ID cards (if both Thai). The registering person is then supposed to check the parents names are correct. So who didn't check the name?

The German in the OP wasn't married to the woman, so he isn't the father in Thailand.

Unless they either subsequently get married, or the mother and child confirm paternity at the Amphur office when the child is old enough to answer the question 'is this your father?'

The Birth Certificate is issued by the Hospital not by the Amphoer. The Foreign Name and Nationality etc. has to be translated in Thai the Translator made a Mistake that s why we had the Probs later...
  10. NOPE I have two Sons both have Thai ID and I never had to sign anything.... Possibly they need a Thai to sign but not the foreigner, I don t understand why this guy not just turns to the German Embassy for help guess that could be all sorted out with a lawyerAnyway the Thai ID would not help, he needs a German ID for the Child and for that he has to do the acknowledgement of paternity first but he can do that ONLY with the agreement of the Mother

You saying about the ID or their Passports? Also, is your name listed as father on their birth certificates?

Thai ID Card they don t have Passports yet but Dual Citizenship yes my Name is on their Birth Certificates

But a Thai Passport would not help either he needs a German ID for the Child and for that he has to do the acknowledgement of paternity first but he can do that ONLY with the agreement of the Mother and then he can apply for a German Passport

  12. A DECENT HOUSE FOR 1. MILLION???????????? LOL ARE YOU ACTUALLY FOR REAL. Show me that place where you get a decent house in Thailand for 1. Million guess you could not call this actually a house but more like a Mini Dwarf 1. Room Bungalow whitch probably falls apart after 5. Years ...

A new 2 bed bungalow on many Thai moobans is about 1MBht.

If you have a bit of land, same can easily be built for about 600k

Not everyone lives in major cities like Bangkok or Pattaya.

Yes I know these kind of Houses :-) definately not one of those I would want to live in and I would not call it decent....

  13. Surely DNA testing can determine if he is the biological father or not.

More reliable than anyone just signing to say he is.

Sure true, but, I think that signing thing here is miss leading.

The father needs the woman not only confirm that he is the father with a signature,

but also the possibility to make a Thai Passport for the child, that needs the consent of the mother I think.

A German Passport will need time, a DNA Test can help here?

When he has a Passport, he easy could leave Thailand, but again, he would official, need the consent of the mother for doing so and bring the child to Germany.

I left Thailand with my children at Airports always without a problem and no questions asked.

Wrong He don t nee the consent of the Mother to get a Thai Passport because he has a Thai Birth Certificate (I assume). He would neet the Consent of the Mother to get a German Passport and why DNA Test?? In a Thai Certificate if he is the father, there would be his Name Passport Number, Nationality all ready stated anyway.. he would just have to translate all the Documents to German and go to the embassy to get the Passport, but without the agreement of the Mother it s not possible...

Actually, both mother & father must sign on the Thai passport application + register - yes even when either is not Thai. smile.png

  14. The numbers don't add up here.

I moved from Britain to Thailand ten years ago. At that time I was worth six-and-a-half million baht - which at today's lousy exchange rate would be worth around four-and-a-half million baht.

And a decade later - thanks to a competent IFA - despite a 1/3rd drop in the value of the pound against the baht and another 1/3rd drop in the value of my nest-egg (thanks to the robber barons of Wall Street) I am STILL worth nearly three-and-a-half million.

Of course, I have RENTED my house (forget OWNING one here). My guess is that to have blown more than twice what I started with in just TWO years, he must've paid through the nose for either a HUGE house - or one in a "fashionable" area - in which case, he's a FOOL.

With ten million baht in his possession, he could've bought a decent house for just ONE million baht - then, given the low cost of living he praises here, lived like a KING on the interest from the remainder. I thought Germans were supposed to be well-ORGANISED?
