  1. If you have the money to buy, you buy

Are you forgetting those who have the money but dont want to buy at current prices because they are way over the top?

Not really, most if not all people i know who have spare money or money to invest have bought already, those usually buy off the plan in the initial stages of construction and get very very cheap prices.

I know 1 guy who buys entire floors before projects even started to lay foundations, he gets a really cheap rate per sqm.

The moment foundation is laid and they starting to build, he can already make money, because developer prices already up by as much as 30% so he can under sell and yet still make profit.

His whole operation is he sells cheaper than the developer before he even has to pay up the full amount and project is complete.

Whatever he could not sell for profit, he keeps and rents out, though the profits from other units(keep in mind he buys the entire floor) already paid for the unsold units, so he does not loose anything

Yes I agree that is a good way to do it if you have the money and can afford to lose it. Thats what they used to do in Spain but a lot got stung when the property prices collapsed and were left with them and some never even got

finished . Makin a quick buck like that is risky business in this economic climate.

Wonder what will happen to the market when the Eastern block find new pastures although they do seem to have a good hold in Pattaya and Phucket. They invaded Spain at one time but were edged out by the police and authorities because of there activities.but money talks in Thailand.

Unless i could afford to lose money or get a property dirt cheap then i would think twice.

  2. I think with all the newbuilds going on the market will become over saturated especially the hundreds of matchboxes they are starting to build in Jomtien beside The Park.

Look whats happened in Spain people thought they could make a quick buck and bought property on a extra mortgage to resell and are left with white elephants when the market took a downturn. The banks are now in trouble being left with it all. Yesterday in the news in uk they were showing apts that were supposed to sell for 265k euros and were not even selling at 70k.

If it is purely to make money I would forget it. Fees and upkeep would outway any profit.

  3. Ive slated hotels in Bangkok before on trip advisor before and there never seems to be any comeback to them. You can leave opinions on anything from bars to eateries. In fact there is a pop up page comes up asking for reviews on particulars places.Ive also done review of eating places in Pattaya as well.

I realy cant see how if your domain is outside Thailand they can do anything except block it from being available in Thailand

  4. Hotmail must have changed something in their system recently as any emails I get from Thai Visa has the following on them in a big red box.

This message looks very suspicious to our SmartScreen filters, so we've blocked attachments, pictures, and links for your safety.

Most of my other mail is getting through ok.

  5. Now I am confused

You started off talking about cancelling True Vision

Now you tell us you have an Astro box........

    Two totally different companies.

Is that part of the problem??

Sorry for the confusion Ive just moved over to Malaysia and its Astro we have here, lol It really was True Visions.

  6. Thanks for the replies. Finally got to the bottom of it. When we rented the house the Astro box was already installed and we called to get reconnected but they had just kept the owners name on it. When we wrote cancellation letter to shop which my hubbys secretary handed in we had our name on it and seemingly they did not cancel it because it was not in our name. So now by the time it is all cancelled we will have 3 months to pay. Owner who stays abroad is going to try to get it cancelled today. lesson learned.

  7. When the Eastern Block moved into Spain especially down the Costas even the hardened Scots drug dealers packed their bags and left. They just took over,Scary people.Drugs everywhere, Prostitutes were at every corner but the police wern't long in hounding them out as all the locals were complaining. Something I don't think the BIB here are in to much of a hurry to do but if they really get a grip there could be trouble ahead.

You've got to ask yourself though, who's better for Pattaya. Sexpats or Russian tourists? I think this is the first time a bunch of Caucasian real tourists have hit Pattaya in big numbers and everyone complains.

... so who's better for Pattaya? If Pattaya wants to lose it's sex tourism image, Russians should be their choice. Is there any other option?

Pattaya will never lose its sex tourism image with the Russians. Its was sex and drugs that got them kicked out of Spain. They even brought there own prostitutes exactly the same as what is happening here.

I dont mind the ordinary Russian tourist they have as much right to visit here as anyone else but it is the baggage that comes with them

  9. Correct about Mr. Moo. They seemto be moving to a smaller space now inside the market but I doubt they will doing their entire menu there. I will miss the old Mr. Moo (but not severely). It isn't surprising though that Kiss saw the trade there and wanted the action.

Mr Moo is opening a bakery and tea shop on the corner of Rompho Road and Threppasit 17. Dont know if they will be selling food but have made a seating area outside with tables and chairs.

  10. Although ATM cards do provide a convenience, it may be time to go back to the old fashion method by going to a bank and withdrawing funds from a teller. Especially in high risk areas like Patters.

Ive tried a few times in Scb Pattaya to get money from the teller and they wont do it.They phone head office to get your limit increased and then tell you to go to the Atm to take it out..

  11. I had mine hacked as well when I first came here. You might have a hard time getting it all back.we had such a fight on our hands as the machine captured me speaking to a friend and they said I could have gave them the pin number and they did it. Despite them having atm photos of the culprits.

As for Thai bank cards not working ouside Thailand.I have used mine in Singapore and Malaysia to get money from the Atm no problems.

Well, none of my Thai ATM cards work outside LOS (ones from Bangkok Bank, Bank Ayudha, or Kasikorn). However, as I mentioned, these are the "basic" cards and there are "inter" cards one can get that will work outside Thailand. People can decide for themselves which type of card is appropriate for them.

As to your problem, can you describe it more specifically? You state that apparently you lost money from a Thai bank account from someone using your ATM card and/or PIN code...I understand there are many ways the card's number can be stolen without one's knowledge during ordinary use of the card but how did someone get your PIN code as well? Money cannot be taken out of an ATM without the PIN and it is the cardholders responsibility to guard this code with their life! I don't blame the banks for taking a tough stand with these type of theft claims...otherwise everyone would be out there claiming money stolen from their accounts.

I bank with SCB. I only had made 3 withdrawals from the account as it had just been opened I wish I knew how they got both

Nobody knew my pin number not even my hubby.so I assume the machine had been skimmed and a camera attached .I usually cover panels when entering my pin but the last time I withdrew money I did not cover it as I was recovering in hospital after major surgery and was carrying 2 drain bottles which made it hard to do.

Two days later I got a call from the bank asking me if I was withdrawing money . Seemingly someone or persons were withdrawing money at all the banks in Central festival.

He was watching it coming up on screen. The chap was nice and stopped it straight away but it is really the inconvenience it causes. So its not always abroad that they try to take it out.

The bank kept saying I had given my card to someone it was impossible for that to happen but when you do a bit of research there were lots of complaints about SCB security on Atms.

They now have a gadget where they just need to pass it over your bag or trouser pocket and it can capture the details from cards What chance do we all have.

  13. I know there would be a cost . It is BPH after all.. I couldn't care less about cost ,I am concerned & BPH & the hundreds of Hospitals world wide that used these I doubt had any idea of the Truth, but I just expected a more positive attitude about getting them out then "watch & check every 6 months" .

We now have found that an acquantance of my wifes who had them as well at BPH has just had a Masectomy because of a Cancer development & that is a worry.

Because of the removals being done at our home Country there is a 'back up' & long wait, so I foolishly thought that the "International" BPH where we had it done would be more Worlds Best Practise obliging to assist.

I guess after travelling there annually for over 20+ years one tends to forget some of the attitudes that still exist .

You dont need to tell me about the attitude of BPH but I bet if you had went in and said I want them out I will pay for it Your wife would have had it done in days.. They will just fob you off as much as possible if they think it is going to cost them.

Unfortunately I was diagnosed with BC 3 weeks after I came here 2 years ago and have went through all the Mas and chemo and others stuff related to chemo treatment.

I have spent 100s k there and cant even ask a question with the doctor relating to side effects of tablets which I have to take.without them saying you will need to speak to this doctor not me... I will make an appointment or just go down and see him . Aye right by the time Im finished with him it will cost me another 20k. All they think of is money money. I cant complain about the treatment I had but attitude stinks.

Seriously go somewhere else and speak to someone and get them out if they have the slightest chance of causing BC and tell her to go natural. as the bc alternative is not very nice.

  14. I am concerned when INDUSTRIAL goods are used in the human body by a Medical Practise .

    How silly I suppose

I wouldn't park all the blame on BPH for the filling as thousands of hospitals over the world used them unaware of what actually was in them.

Not everyone is getting them replaced for nothing and I am sure BPH will do there utmost not to do it for free. Some adverse publicity might help your case but I wouldnt hold my breath. I am sure there will be money involved somehow.

If i was that worried I'd be looking to get them out whether it cost me or not.

  15. There is nowhere worse for crossing a road just now than Jomtien Second road. It is a nightmare. Both Thais and Farangs are at it, to blinking lazy to drive to the u turn . They have blocked 2 u turns and its like whacky races at the market area. They are all driving up the wrong side of the road and on the pavement. Accident waiting to happen.

  16. It was horrendous all right! I arrived around mid-day (probably one of the worst time to arrive) during late Feb and there were long, confusing queues. You might find yourself queuing at the end of one line only to find, horror of horror, this line of people joining up with another line somewhere in the middle and only one immigration officer on duty in front of this mess! My blood pressure went up all right! It was a long 2 hours wait and all the time I was waiting, I tried to stop thinking.... please, please, nobody steal my luggage!

It's a simple case of insufficient manpower more than anything else.

I arrived at 1pm and the biggest problem was they just got up and closed desks and all the people from that queue started pushing in to our queue. A lot of the times there was just one person on.

My luggage was lying itself in the middle of the airport Anyone could have went off with it. Loads of luggage lying scattered everywher. I cant remember it being so bad. .

  17. Just a word of caution, It took 3 hours to clear immigration today. The place was horrendous.people were actually starting to fight amongst themselves and losing the place. Loads of people that had taxis booked found they had gone. Cant blame them really Who's going to hang around for 3 hours waiting for their fare.
