  1. I hate packet stuffing and have been looking for oatmeal to make my own..Has anybody seen it anywhere ?. Saw plenty porridge oats but no Oatmeal

  2. Took us 80 mins last saturday. The problem is parking which was impossible. We managed to park in Novotel. They say the drop off and pick up is horrendous. Our family going back sun morning but they are just going to get the bus up to save us the hassle.

Check in should be as normal I would think.

  3. How does the water from the machines compare to the bottled water you buy? I go through loads of water about 30 ltrs a week and couldnt get any this week. They have a new water machine near me and thought I'd give it a try. Cheaper as well.

  4. I think my stay was around that per night. I had two major surgeries, spent 6 days in the hospital and the total bill was somewhere around 275,000 thb. I've had multiple surgeries due to cancer and I have to say, that my surgeries and recovery at BPH were the smoothest I've ever had. BPH IMO really does a good job in the surgery department. Much different than the US. I had no labs drawn after surgery. No nurses waking me up every few hours to take vitals. They pretty much left me alone unless I needed something. An aide would check on about 3 times a day. I found my stay to be very restful and healing. I had the same exact surgery a year prior at a supposed top hospital in the US and it was a nightmare. The surgeon at BPH basically had to redo everything the first surgeon did.

Like you I have had to have cancer treatment at BPH and the treatment I have had has been first class. My cost was roughly 200.000thb..plus chemo sessions which I didnt dare look at the price. The problem is sometimes our illness dosnt allow us to travel to Bkk and outwith pattaya. I would have hated to have had to travel during chemo sessions. It was as quick as I could get home and travelling every week would just have been impossible. I,m back tomorrow for another op and I know I will be looked after and left in peace to recover.

One of my medications cannot be bought from a chemist They must be from the hospital but I just tell them I will buy the rest from the chemist and they are fine about it.. But it is funny when you get your bill and a plaster @5thb and cotton wool ball @ 2 thb is itemised.

I dont believe in Dual and triple pricing though. It should be one price for all. One thing I do notice there are plenty of Thai use it as well as westerners.

  5. To be clear, my OP wasn't really about the topic of buying a residence in the area, pro or con. It was about an emerging neighborhood that is offering stuff not otherwise available in the city. Flooding? It's been a wet wet season. Did you see the flooding in Pattaya this year?

BTW, the name of the decent Italian owned restaurant that I suggested roughly across the street from Bali Breeze is La Merenda. It's a rustic little place, but charming, many Italian customers, and also sells Italian breads to go, etc. Dinner plates in the 200 range.

Bali Breeze is nice Went when it first opened. Must try La Merenda. The Pig and Whistle was nice as well for English food. The place is certainly livelier than it was a year ago. Which is good as not everyone likes going into Pattaya all the time.

Its great how people slate an area without actually living there. I'm in Jomtien Park Villas and I never hear a thing from the bars. We chose to stay in Jomtien because Pattaya didnt suit us but I dont go slating it . Each to there own.

  6. My hubby enjoyed his meal from Indian by Nature but I found my Byriani very non authentic.

The Curry Hut was nice but not a lot of meat in mine. The special seems good value though.

How long has the Curry Hut been in business? I hadn't noticed it. More specific directions please?

Think it has been open 5 or 6 months. It is in the row of shops inside the bar complex at Jomtien Market just round from The Aussie bar.. You can sit in or take away.

  7. Can anyone please recommend a good optician who can do single lens glasses quickly. Hubby had a mishap with his on a flight earlier and cannot read without them., or maybe somewhere where you can buy over the counter reading ones which would do as a stopgap.

  8. I live in Jomtien park Villas . Just walk to the gate and the security guards will take you down to the baht bus in the golf cart. They will drop you off down on Beach road or at the Statue. i just usually give them 10 baht. You have to walk back though when you come back. or get motorbike taxi which is usually 30 baht. Walk and have a pit stop in the bars on the road up..

if you just want to go to 7/11 or the market for something they will take you wait and bring you back if you ask them.to.

  9. Tesco up beside Makro had king size duvet covers instore the other day. You could also try the Outlet mall next door they have a department in the basement with bedding but I dont really know the price. Central Festival have them but might be pricey for you.

  10. A place called American Ribs or something similar also has good burgers, it's on Theppasit road on the same side as Pattaya sea food and about 200m further if coming from Thapraya rd.

JB, when was the last time you where there ? The Farang who owned

it (Rob) sold it to some Thais if I remember correctly. Now the food really

really sucks. We used to go there at least once a week. Now everything

is very oily and tasteless. On the other hand I haven't been back in at least

10 months ... if somebody has more up to date info please report !

    Cheers,

    rudi

I was there on saturday night and had a burger. I was good Defo go back.

  11. Bangkok Pattaya Hospital sometimes have special packages for women where the mammogram is included mammograms also available separately. Results while you wait. Cant remember the exact cost of mine as back in uk at present and paperwork in Thai.

If she thinks there is a problem dont factor cost of mammogram into equation at present just get one done.Saved my life.

  12. Well I think at 44 you might be bored to tears in a short time once the novelty wears off. You should really start thinking about retraining for something so that you could get employment. You also need to factor into the equation you might meet someone and then your costs rise again.

healthcare is a must as well. I was only here 3 weeks and discovered I had BC and have racked up over $40 k so far in bills in 6 months.

To live comfortably I reckon nearer 65k THB. Again it all depends on how you want to live. Good luck whatever you decide.

  13. I got scabies in London. Dirty bedlinen or towels thought doc. You need to wash bedlinen and towels seperately every day.. Do not let anyone else use them.as it is easily spread. My hubby had to sleep in different bed for 10 days till I got rid of it.
