  1. There is a contention ratio between cheaper packages. It's not just upload speed, you also get better international speed on higher packages.
  2. I always used top package at 3BB and when I moved my active subscription from one location to another in Phuket, I didn't get the advertised speed while tech people were in my home. Even speedtest was slowly going up to 600-700 mbps and nowhere near 940 mbps in local speedtest server. Upload speed was also lower than 200 mbps or so. Then I asked them and told them my package is 1000/1000 and they realized they made a mistake. One call to 3BB center and my package was correctly set. Then, I can get 940/940 easily and quickly with same settings, same router, same LAN cable. ISPs has to prioritize traffic depending on the subscriber. Otherwise, nobody would get higher end packages when all download speeds are equal. If cheap package bandwidth is shared with 50 people, maybe mine is shared with 20 people (20:1 contention) and those numbers are just guesses.
  3. Reason for that is ISPs throttle speed by the amount of money you pay. 3BB cheapest package International speed vs top package speed ain't the same (1000/300 vs 1000/1000).
  4. It's a permanent change. You set it and forget it ????
  5. Maybe try AIS BYOD? 399 baht for 500/500 but can be configured as 1000/300
  6. AIS expanded it's coverage to 24 or 26 provinces for 2gbps, so it is feasible to get 2000/500 with BYOD plan for 1299 baht/month now. The problem is, lack of routers that supports 2.5G wan + 2.5g lan at the same time. Some routers support LAN aggravation with 2x1Gbit ports, and some can deliver 2gbps via Wifi 6 at 160mhz channels.
  7. Malaysia would be great if they weren't favoring muslims and have a dual law system (sharia + civil) where Muslims hold advantage over non-muslims (or infidels)
  8. No need to ask neighbours. Thai use youtube and facebook only (and line). You won't get any valid feedback regarding international connectivity. 3BB should be good no matter what the location. True started to offer 2gbps internet packages in 24 cities.
  9. Cablemodems don't use username or password. Maybe try to get IP by DHCP from Wan if it is set to Bridge mode? I don't think you need PPPoE user/pass for Docsis Cable system. Auth is done by MAC Address.
  10. Cable modems won't work without MAC address allowed in your ISP. You could have DMZ'ed IP of your second router and use it without bridge mode, without double NAT easily.
  11. Who cares about 20 Gbps on a mobile phone <deleted>? FYI I'm getting 500Mbps+ on a single file download (sync) from Google drive to my NAS. That's on 3BB 1000/1000 package.
  12. Unless you need 2Gbps in one PC, you don't need a new router. Having 1500 or 2000 Mbps for the price of 1000 Mbps is a thing people should celebrate. I don't understand all these opposition about how "Unnecessary it is". For 20-80 guests, they'll get the benefit one way or another as they are sharing same pipe.
  13. Google "5G spectrum" and educate yourself. If you think 2gbps internet is pointless, why bother responding to this thread?
  14. You can increase number of connections to saturate the link. Troughput reduces over distance (latency) even without ISP throttling. This is network 101.
  15. Comparing spectrum limited 5G to fiber internet is a bit dumb if you ask me.
  16. 5Gbe requires Active fiber and don't hold your horses for such service anytime soon. Monthly tariff of 2Gbps on AIS is not expensive with BYOD, it is on par with others. Well, maybe 99 baht + vat more expensive (1299 thb + vat)
  17. 3BB and others should definitely provide 2 or 2.5 gbps packages, so they can justify 590 / 700 / 900 / 1200 baht packages. 590 - 1000/200 700 - 1000/500 900 - 1500 / 500 1200 - 2000 or 2500 / 1000
  18. I guess some people just want internet speeds to stay same forever. IT conservatism?? One sentence: Competition is always better. AWS doesn't have a bandwidth limit, ISPs enforce speed throttling to prevent network abuse. They are not the same thing.
  19. Bill gates also said who needs more than 640K ram. Here we are. If passive PON supports 2.5 gbps down, why settle for less? Who are you to call others stupid? Utopia fiber in Salt Lake City offers 10Gbps residential (as in HOME) internet. Japan already offers 10Gbe home fiber, Romania also offers 5 and 10Gbe fiber internet. I guess your IT days are over mate. You should retire if you can't adapt.
  20. Use cloudflare warp 1.1.1.1 for Voip or any other vpn you have. Problem solved.
  21. You don't have much options in a condo. You're lucky if you can even get a fiber internet. Ask condo management what internet options you have. If they work with 3BB only, then you can't get anything else. On the other hand, if you rented a single house in a residential area, you could probably get all the options (AIS, 3BB, True, CAT/TOT)
  22. I guess one needs to get a high end router with 2.5 gbe wan and lan ports, plus a laptop/desktop with 2.5 gbe LAN to get 2gbps speed alone. AIS provide 2.5Gbe ONT / PON device so BYOD / Router should work.
  23. While 1gbps is great, I want more! Maybe in the future we could get active fiber instead of passive fiber. Active fiber can provide 10gbps internet easily and it is not shared with other users ????
