2 hours ago, CharlieH said:BS! They"re using the Russia situation as a damn excuse to hike prices nothing more.
Actually true in many ways...
1- They have millions of gallons already onshore why has price risen already?
2- Yet when prices drop they keep them up for months saying they paid more for the millions of gallons onshore
They take it both ways...or I should say we do ????

I will pass at engaging with you any further on this issue as there is clearly no value in it.
Classic ???? Now if we were also spared all your sensationalized wealth of no first hand experience anti USA stories that would be
something to look forward to

You seem to be saying homelessness is some kind of media conspiracy theory.
Your words not mine....There are homeless as always & many in fact by choice
It is you that uses sensationalized media to explain your sky is falling in the USA chants
But you & your constant complaining about a place you have not been for decades gets old & is in fact the dishonest one
Folks who actually move back seem to do fine & do find affordable places & I am saying that while living in one of the most expensive States
Perhaps you should tune out of msm & concentrate on finding your place in the sun...if it exists ????

When I wanted to marry my wife in 2007 I wanted to be respectful to Thai customs
So I asked my future mother in law what is expected for sinsod
To my surprise she said...We are not selling our daughter....That you love her & promise to take care of her is all we ask
They were not rich in any way. They were normal Thai farmers in the north. Great loving folks who were married for 70 years themselves

In all fairness, a lot of people still thing the media they favor is providing unbiased reporting.
True...mainly the folks that don't live in the spots msm is reporting on.
They still cannot understand it is sensationalism that sells/gets the clicks...well that & supporting the usual political BS ????

I must be living in the US, in a parallel universe, to the universe that folks not living in the US are reading about.
You have to understand these are folks that have not (because they cant) been back to the USA in decades.
So since they cant they want to be the chicken little running amok crying the sky is falling in a place they never been...in decades
These dogs won't hunt & never would......It in reality is they who live in a parallel favela ????

I can speak to that from personal experience. Often going to the police makes it worse as the police are quite likely not to be at all sympathetic.
Oh come on now....In what decade are you referring to your "personal Experience" In what decade did you last LIVE in the USA??
If ever a need for "Peer Review" existed it is in anything you claim about life in the USA
Truth is you have a wealth of no valid Actual First Hand experience in recent decades

Just taking it one day at a time until we get our feet under us.
It really takes some getting used to, after all the years in Isaan.
You have the right attitude & I'm sure you will do fine
My wife like yours is a US citizen & had lived & worked before in the US
We were the same at first & it took a few months to settle in.
Then we started noticing how great it really was & we were happy we made the move back
Congrats & Good Luck going forward

Meanwhile, the daily death toll in Thailand is spiking.
Yeah...they better be careful soon the daily Covid death toll will rival the daily road death toll ????

As Thailand continues to adjust to “living with Covid” national Covid-19 hotline being overwhelmed with record daily phone calls from worried Thais
555 Classic Thailand!
2019-2020 tons of Covid Zero testing...many provinces had old folks dying of what they called super pneumonia
Now 2021-2022 Tons of testing tons of mild results with death rates still below daily road deaths NUT total PANIC!
Because the so called leader who used covid scares to keep students at bay & off streets protesting till another election could be rigged created a unreasonable fear.
One more item/cause of this panic & that is the cheap self tests! Has anyone seen Social Media these days? Thai's love to post their test daily showing negative results like a badge of honor! Insane!!
If any country did that they would show large increases too....Same if there was a test for common cold & a population tested daily for it
Thailand ????

Another point.
For those that do have a solid US network especially family they can live with, obviously that network would make things much easier. Indeed that might be a strong incentive to go home.
Actually you have that backwards
The Blue States give & give & give from others wallets but they give & give & give

Affordable in the U.S.?
I don't think so.
Consider someone on a 1300 SS check.
170 goes to Part B.
See^^^ Stuff like this from someone who does not know nor has lived in the US in how long?
Someone on 1300 a month SS gets free Part B & Part D but please dont let the facts stop your sky is falling song

Thing is, once you get away from the coasts and into the heartland things change dramatically. You may not have a beach on your doorstep, but equally you're not destined to live in a hellhole.
I work with retired folks living on their SS and a part time job, living comfortable middle class lives, hardly the tale of destitution that seems to be peddled in this thread.
But if you want to live on next to nothing with no health insurance or support, I guess Cambodia is in your immediate future
Yup I tried a few times & gave up.
The usual suspects are out to cry the sky is falling in the USA without so much as having lived here in decades
No problem & like you say perhaps Cambodia or some other Favela is in their future as the obviously are looking for "something else"
PS: about coastal living...I have actually lived on beautiful beaches & would never again (own anything there)
The Salt eats it all in a matter of years even the glass picture windows all become pitted from Salt

Thai bashing at its finest.
One wonders why you stay here.
Get some glasses...It is not Thai Bashing I love Thailand & its people but........
These types sat & let their country be taken from them ...AGAIN....in 2014
Look at how that has worked out for the people??
There is a well known saying....Every nation gets the government it deserves....You should get up & work on cleaning your house first before offering to help others with clean theirs

My wife & I are also waiting till this Thai Roulette is dropped
We will not leave here (USA) with anymore than a PCR test on our side BEFORE departure
Not willing to spin the wheel of chance with the Thai sensitive testing that seems to find so many positive
with no symptoms etc ...That tested negative only hours before in their own countries
Join the rest of the modern World Thailand....Testing BEFORE departure from their countries is all that is needed ( and vaccination proof if you want)

This is pretty hilarious when you consider they sat still while a Military Junta overthrew its own Thai government....Then again "Thais with military experience" may have been part of that overthrow problem...so again hilarious in this context

For those of you have perm retired to Asia,
What about your home in farangland , did you keep it, did you decide to sell up and keep no assets where you came from,or do you perhaps rent it out ?
I am making decisions that when I retire I may keep my house in Australia until about 70 then if I decide to permanently live in Asia whether that be Thailand or Phillipines then I will sell it.
Yes kept our home & it tripled in worth
For you I would highly recommend keeping it & like you said when you get closer to expiration date then you can sell & likely do fine.
Those who sold to retire early had their cake early & now have to live with that decision
Truthfully for young folks there is never a absolute good reason to sell when they could easily leverage it & let someone else pay it off

Would you care to elaborate on how you achieved this state? meditation?
Sure
Meditation is always good but when I said hours per day it is because I have been an avid road cyclist for 35 years
I love to ride in the mountains & do so for 3 hours most mornings

I am never lonely while alone & spend hours each day alone with my thoughts but.........
I have always lived with a woman because I learned long ago that life is less meaningful for me if I don't have someone to share my happiness, luck, love, fortune, good times with.
I rather like holding hands with someone as I cross the streets in life

The problem of our time is News is no longer news it is Opinion based on *their* facts
So yes we are better off ignoring it.
There was a time when news was just that....news reported as fact unbiased
Today you have left news, right news & all their little minions All part of the same corrupt systems
You also have to laugh at some these same pompous BS spreaders new demands such the new censorship called "Peer Review"
Puleeze...definition of "Peer Review" is let the BS'ers review & decide if any of this truth may be released knowing it shines lights on previous BS
Yet these that demand Peer Review publish their BS freely
Well as always "All animals are equal but some are more equal than others"

Age is no guarantee of anything wisdom included
You can have wisdom anytime...it is actually quite easily achieved.
Anything ever learned is written so read & gain wisdom anytime
But wisdom is not knowledge
Knowledge is only gained when you *Know* the wisdom is true & thus it becomes knowledge
This should be learned especially in these days of media fueled BS passing for facts

What are you claiming China? Pffft they already have a good portion of Thailand in their pocket why fight over what is already theirs? So what country do you see invading Thailand & Thailand needing F35's submarines etc etc?
Truth is all these generals need are receipts to pad at the citizens of Thailands expense
Anyway.........back to your beer & chatting with your X-CIA MI6 buddies or whoever you are this week 555
