  1. Dakhar, you have a pretty warped view of people who have been more successful financially than you.

I've made over 2 million dollars in Thailand over the past twenty years, yet have lived a full and wonderful life.  I've visited about 70 of Thailand's 76 provinces, holidayed in over 60 countries around the globe, raised a wonderful family.

I may have more money than I will spend in a lifetime, but I will pass on what's left to my heirs.

Well well.... if you want to talk about "Made." Sure I have made or generated 2 million (USD) or more in the last 4 years, not 20 years. It aint that hard in the field that I am in. What I netted is a different story. I have no qualms with the wealthy... Aparently I am among the wealthy. But I don't care to live it, and I don't care to flaunt it, and I will be so glad when I get out of what I do. I just want to be able to relax and take things easy.... enjoy life, and retire early. I want to return back to my youth, and grow up with my son. That to me will be the ultimate way to enjoy life. Maybe it aint fitting for all the folks out there, and it dosn't have to be. It is fitting for me and that is all that matters.

  2. Sorry freind,

I aint a teacher. I think I would be hauled of to the BKK hotel based due to fraud, because my English skills stink so bad.

But you are right.... I have been off topic, and I apologize to you and the OP.

As to the subject, are their any farangs that have had made millions in Thailand... ? Well if so, I feel sorry for them, because they sure did spend a lot of time making more money than they could ever spend in a life time.... rather than living life. To me that is what Thailand is about, having the ability to live a good life, without the millions.

  3. This thread in a way disapoints me. One of the reasons I love Thailand so much, is when I go there, I get away from the office. I get away from the business I am in... the medical business. Which I think is one of the most cut throat businesses out there. Any how, I go to Thailand, I walk around in my shorts and T-shirt, and don't give a flying flip about my "status," because I know in the end.... I have got money in the bank, and all is 'OK." So come on guys, love a little. Ajarn, has probably gone a lot further in Thailand, than he could of in his own home country. (No offense intended there Arjarn) Ajarn has taken his skills that have a limited earning potential, and ran with it. Nothing wrong with that, it only shows intellegence to me.

For example, I have a friend in Thailand teaching English, earning around 40K baht a month. Which I hear tell is 4 times your avg Thai with a bachelors degree. Now my friend has a Masters degree in Eng. Folks, I promise you, he could not earn 4 times your avg. American with a M.S. in Englsih in the states. He lives a good life, with a great wife and 2 beautiful children in Thailand.... In my book, he is a millionaire.

  4. All gesting aside... BkkMadness...

I liked your photo, it reminds me of the many reasons why I want to be in Thailand...

Such beauty, and such wonder that photo contains. So much better compared to the sand pit I currently reside.

  5. All this discussion over 125CC bike....?! I'd give buying a pair of shoes more consideration than buying a 125CC beast of a moped. What's my view of a 125CC machine? Well its about 500CC's short of anything I would want to own.

  6. I also think why come to Thailand to try and make lots of money. Much easier in a Country you really know lots about and where the spoken language is your native one. Besides the fact that profit margins are lower here.

Anyway I earned 10 times more before I retired here, but I actually had to work. Some people seem to like it, but I did it for the money. :o

I like your post and I agree.... But here is another thought. Currently, I make 4 to 5 tims the avg. American. Now, when I finally land in Thailand, I hope that my investments earn me aprox. 6 times the avg thai. Sure that will be around 8 times less than what I made in the states... but so what, comfortable is comfortable, no matter which way you slice it. It is all relative.

and like you, I am doing it for the money....

  7. To me, there is beauty in all colors...

Shapes.... Eh, I aint that liberal just yet.

When my son was born my wife was so happy to see that his skin appears to be white like me....

I told her, I could care less what his color was.... he is my son, he is beautiful to me no matter what.

My wife is fairly white for a Thai, and when she hides from the son as if she shall melt.... I just tell her she is being crazy...

Oh well, it is culture, and it controls us humans.

  8. I grew up in a small back woods town in south east Tx. The education provided in that town was really bad. Our computer class, had one computer in the room, and we were not even allowed to touch it. It remained covered, and every once in a while we were given a quick glance at it. I knew that it required electricity, had a key board and a monitor..... that was about it. We did not even have enough text books, so we could not take home our texts....

About the only thing my education taught me was the ability to read. I can't say I learned much more than that. My math and spelling skills are basically an impairment to me!

But I will say this. Both my sisters completed at least a B.S., one recieved a M.S. in Bio Chem, my brother recieved a J.D.D. (lawyer) and I recieved a doctorate. Financially, we are all doing well....

My point is, I think it is not really about the education you recieve, but what an individual does with the education he or she recieves. I think your boy will do fine in Thailand.

Drugs and teen age sex is rampant in America. My guess is he would actually be better off in Thailand.

  9. Here in the states my parents have a 6cyl. Ford Escape. They had larger tires fitted to the car, and still get around 25 mpg. They are very pleased with the SUV, and every time I have driven it, I have been pleased. They have never had any mechanical problems with the vehicle.

I am happy to see the low used valur of the Ford Escape in Thailand, because I think it would be a good truck to have over there.

  10. I have a question....

My wife is Thai, we were married in America, been married now for 4.5 years. Our first child is on the way... should be here in a matter of hours:)

    The question is this....

The child being born here in America, will ofcourse be considered an American.

My wife has a green card, and we plan on returning to Thailand.... returning to live there in a year or so.

I have heard that her green card could be revoked if she stays outside of America for an extended period of time.... if this is true, the fact that she is the mother of an American child, will this allow us to travel to and fro from Thailand to America with frew hassles...

Hope someone has some info on this...

    Thank you

  11. It is not just the American Car MFG's making huge vehicles. The Japanese are also joining in.

They want that big truck market too.... Granted the are only doing because of the demand for huge needless vehicles. I wish the govt. would tax the mess out of people that drive those things when they have no legitimate need for them.

I am proud to say, both my vehicles are 6 cyl.

That guy that told you it could be done, was me. I did it,
, it was built, and done fairly well without me being present for a single moment.
I plan on doing this again in the near future.

so you are just the dumb farang who cant spell and signs the cheques !!!

    you're a cash cow !!! mmmmmmooooooooooooooooooooooooo !

    you did fukc all .

too much arizona sun has fried your brain !!

    :D:D:o:D:D:D

Yes, I am a dumb farang that "cant" (can't) spell and signs cheques.... Yes I guess I could be considered a cash cow in this situation. Basically, I invested, I supplied the capital, others supplied the know how. That was the plan all along. I was just fortunate to know people that could accomplish this endeavor.

Most people that invest are nothing more than cash cows/or sources of capital.... however you would like to phrase it. But being a dumb farang cash cow, is not such a bad thing really, I can think of a lot worse things to be.

  13. Obviously we have a generation gap her.

I come from the days of Spell Check..... Of which I am very thankful...

You come from the days of the abacus.

If you want to get some degrees out of Az. you may want to bone up on your GRE testing skills. What is the GRE? Oh yea, I forgot they probably didn't have that in your day.

Guys, really I can tell thay you must have the last word....

So go ahead get your last words in.....

Ultimately, no matter what you say, I still have my degrees, my job, and all that comes with it.

    Enjoy.
