  1. Do you not believe in rehabilitation?
  2. Do you really think Thai wives of farang are a cross section of the Thai population? Many, of not most, are on the bottom rungs of the Thai hierarchical social ladder.
  3. I disagree Nonsense, unless you live in Pattata.
  4. That link is mostly political/religious bombing. I was trying to point out that there are few serial killers in Thailand as generally the mental health of people here is superior to the US, for example. This is due to close communities and Buddhist culture, IMHO. Therefore, we don't need the same mental health facilities as in other countries. In the US, for example, 70% of adults are on prescribed medication, 30 million people over 12 have Alcohol Use Disorder, 20% of population have used illegal drugs, drug abuse is obvious in cities like SF, where Fentanyl abusers are walking around like zombies. So, yes, mental health could be better but there is not yet the need, like in the West. 46.4% of Americans had some kind of mental illness in 2003. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prevalence_of_mental_disorders#:~:text=The United States%2C Colombia%2C the,in Asian countries in general.
  5. As Thailand catches up with countries like the US, they will improve the mental health. Thailand has a long way to go though until she reaches the US who leads the world in number of serial killers, with a staggering 3, 613! I think Thailand has 4 that I can think of. https://sites.lsa.umich.edu/qmss/2023/03/04/serial-killer-statistics/
  6. I was thinking of a long drawn-out painful death.
  7. Thanks Sheryl.
  8. I've had most of these the last few days.
  9. Wow - I've been experiencing some of these symptoms. Water intoxication can occur in a variety of different clinical settings but is generally not well recognised in the medical literature. The condition may go unrecognised in the early stages when the patient may have symptoms of confusion, disorientation, nausea, and vomiting, but also changes in mental state and psychotic symptoms. Early detection is crucial to prevent severe hyponatraemia, which can lead to seizures, coma, and death. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1770067/
  10. I was in Fascino yesterday and telling the staff that I may have had dehydration so now drinking 4 litres of water a day. One woman, to my surprise, said that it is dangerous. The other one nodded in agreement. What's going on?
  11. Thanks for the reply, Sheryl. I bought a machine to measure blood pressure and got the following results this morning when rising. First time blood pressure was 121/81, pulse 43 in bed, changing to 102/81, pulse 69 when standing. I then lay down again and did the same but this time standing for longer. In bed - 110/71 - 43 Standing - 99/77 - 85 after 5 min - 93/77 - 75 after 10 min - 95/79 - 86 after 15 min - 94/83 = 95 I never did longer as I started to feel faint and nauseous. Hypotension?
  12. I saw a similar thing yesterday when a foreign guy put his arm around a female caddie when getting a photo taken. Disgusting, depending on your culture.
  13. He's a creep, that's for sure., I've never liked him. Similarities with the guy he interviews here.
  14. Thanks, been getting these rewards, in tokens for 3 years. Originally, from Kraken(a US bank) but I opted for the 12% for no fixed period as it was during a bull run. I convert to cash in various ways, one of which is using a crypto.com debit card. I can pay most of my utility bills, shopping etc. I have some at 12% still for instant access and some at 19% which is tied in for 1 month.
  15. Polkadot's potential for providing substantial returns for staking can be attributed to several factors: Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) Consensus Mechanism: Polkadot uses a Nominated Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, which allows token holders to nominate validators they trust. Validators are responsible for producing blocks and validating transactions. This system incentivizes token holders to participate in staking by earning rewards in the form of DOT tokens. Incentives for Validators: Validators on the Polkadot network are rewarded for their services. They receive a portion of the transaction fees and the newly minted DOT tokens as block rewards. The competition among validators for these rewards encourages them to maintain a high level of performance and security. Nominator Rewards: Individuals who stake their DOT tokens and nominate validators can also earn rewards. Nominators receive a share of the rewards earned by the validators they nominate. This further incentivizes participation in the staking ecosystem. Staking Yield: The total staking yield in Polkadot depends on various factors, including the number of tokens staked, the inflation rate, and the percentage of tokens participating in staking. When more tokens are staked, the rewards are distributed among a smaller pool of stakers, potentially leading to higher individual rewards. Governance and Governance Rewards: Polkadot's on-chain governance system allows token holders to vote on proposals and changes to the network. Those who actively participate in governance decisions may also earn additional rewards. This incentivizes token holders to engage with the network's development and decision-making processes. Network Growth: Polkadot is a rapidly evolving ecosystem with various parachains (parallel blockchains) and projects being developed on its platform. As the network expands and attracts more users and developers, the demand for DOT tokens may increase, potentially driving up the token's price and staking rewards. It's important to note that while the potential for high returns exists in Polkadot staking, it also comes with risks. Staking involves locking up your tokens for a period, and the rewards are subject to market volatility and network conditions. Additionally, there may be slashing penalties for validators who misbehave, which can affect staking rewards. Therefore, individuals considering staking in Polkadot or any other blockchain network should conduct thorough research, understand the risks, and consider their investment goals and risk tolerance.
  16. 8% is not much. Now, I get 19% by holding my Polkadot in Nova, a non-custodial wallet.
  17. So I have to pay tax on my state pension if I live in Thailand? Even if I do, the allowances I have will make the amount 0.
  18. So when I get my British pension, I won't have to pay tax on it if I live in Thailand?
  19. General Anupong, the previous Minister, made things much easier for foreigners wanting to naturalize here. I was a teacher earning 40k a month and managed to do it in less than 3 years, as I am married to a Thai.
  20. I can't see the benefit of getting one of these visas. Just leave 800k in a bank and pay 1900 baht a year, or pay the agents 15,000 baht a year. I know the latter is usually illegal, but nobody seems to care.
  21. OK, will do. Actually, did it again - 45 when lying down. After a while standing, seems to be around 75-80.
