If it's not too inconvenient for you it might be good to visit Phuket Bus Terminal 2 (on Thepkrassatri in Ratsada) (or even the one downtown on Phang Nga Road - Bus Terminal 1).  I can imagine the busses might still be running despite tickets not being sold online.  Also, if the busses aren't running what better place for the minivan drivers to set up for business.  Good luck.

Thanks, I will be in Patong but I think you are right I will probably need to go to the station to find out what's going on. Cheers

  2. Hi guys, After I finish the 7 day sandbox I was thinking about traveling on to Suratthani / Samui and Hua Hin. I don't really want to fly if possible. Does anyone know of buses or minibuses that are traveling from Phuket just now? Probably would like to go to Suratthani initially.

    Thanks

Having ‘Sandboxed’ for two weeks a few weeks ago I would recommend Rawai.

I stayed in both Rawai and Bang Tao \ laguna areas - Rawai was more lively, more restaurants open (bars were closed).

Nai Harn beach had life and was quite busy in the late afternoon / really evening.

Laguna area seemed quite pleasant but was more family orientated, but with less to do.

Plenty of restaurants in both places.

I rode down to Patong, didn’t even bother getting off the bike, a lot of it was closed. I didn’t try there in the evening.

IF visiting the beach every day doesn’t interest you I would imagine Phuket town could be quite enjoyable for a week with plenty of restaurants and now that the bars are opening up there could be plenty of places to enjoy a few beers.

If you want girl fun - I guess patong would be the place to go to.

Hi Richard any Hotel recommendations in Rawai? I think it sounds like the best option - many thanks

I  haven't heard or read anything about a place at Suvarnabhumi airport issuing Covid-19 vaccination passports. What, exactly, is your source for this rumour?

I heard via twitter, but have also seen an address online at Suvarnabhumi, The guy on twitter had called them and they told him it can be done. I fly on Saturday and plan to try to do it - I will update on what happens - fingers crossed

  5. My experience today at Phayathai 2 hospital.

I'm 57 and have had 1 X Sinovac 4 weeks ago (registered while thaiintervac site was working)

I arrived very early for my appointment and was taken straight away, I was the only non Chinese. The staff didn't miss a beat switching from announcements in Mandarin to English when my turn came.

I was offered Sinovac or AZ - I took Sinovac for various reasons - the whole procedure lasted around 45 minutes including the 30 minute wait time. Very slick and professional staff, they are a credit to their profession.

  6. Foodland on Pattaya Klang sell pastrami at their Del counter. It's decent and as I recall not too expensive.....might wander up for some now that I think about it.

  7. Didn't someone just investigate the "Hotel quarantine" scheme where allegedly the Hotels were paying a bribe to be allowed to house the quarantined people? I hope no-one tries to defraud this wonderful scheme.

I guess foreign residents will be allowed to pay a higher price than Thais just like at the Hospitals and national parks - Amazing Trusted Thailand.

  8. I am currently in Danang and it is quiet apart from 5 or 6000 American sailors who were here for about 4 nights from the Theodore Roosevelt which was moored here.

It's my first time in Danang and it's very nice but it has major building work going on in the beach area - seems very Korean / Chinese / Japanese orientated. Lots of stores full of Korean & Japanese food products but not many tourists anywhere that I can see.

It does not appear to have a big nightlife vibe going on but what little it has suits me. Im back off to Saigon tomorrow but will definitely return to Danang.

Couple of options. With the high cost of milk thistle here, consider ordering from a US supplier. Even with high shipping costs you should be able to get 120 capsules (wouldn't want tablets) for slightly more than what you would pay for a 30 count here.

Second option is to buy Andrographis Paniculata (sold under Thai name of Fah-Talai-Jone). It is also an herb that has proven hepatoprotective (liver) benefits and you can get 100 capsules for around 80 baht.

Where can I pick up some Fah Talai Jone in Chiang Mai? Do most places have it?

    thanks ????

  11. As someone mentioned earlier there are two shop fronts / bus stations on Pattaya Klang - as you go up Klang toward Sukumvit they are on the left just before Foodland supermarket.

They seem to have small mini vans and newer ones that are slightly bigger probably 20+ seats or so. They have various drop offs in Bangkok.
