How would one apply for a Thai passport in Australia?
Contact your nearest Thai Consulate in Australia.
This should help...

This link will give you the details of the Thai Consulates in the UK. (I use Hull, quicker response)
http://thailand-uk.com/thaiemb.html
You can get a Thai passport from the consulates in the UK, I seem to remember you will need your marrage certificate, babys birth certificate and some others doc's.
Your son/daughter has a right to both passports. I would get them both as soon as you can.

We all have a fav hotel we like. My best yet is the Palm Island hotel in Ko Samui.
We are in Phuket and want a hotel - guest house on the beach with pool.
Any suggestions would be good please
Thanks
I would try Patong Villa in Patong. About 1200 baht, air con, pool, next to the beach. Most of the hotels near the beach are more than 1500b

Off to Phuket with my wife and daughter, my daughter is three and enjoys the pool and all that comes with it, however we do rather a hotel with a childrens pool aswell as the usual pool.
Any advice would be great
Try the Thara in Patong, really nice place. Im not sure if theres a childrens pool but there is more than one large pool which is shallow. (waist height) Copy and paste this link.
http://phuket-hotelguide.com/hotels/hkttpt.htm?GPH
Get there phone number and give them a quick call to ask if they have a childrens pool.
Hope this helps

Some wild guy named Tarzan got into the act long before you.
He took a local monkey called 'Cheeta' back to the jungle with him.
In these modern times there are falangs who come to Thailand and take some of the locals home with them to Falangland. Some of these locals are very unfaithful and are classified as 'cheaters.'
Cheeta's and cheaters belong in the jungle. Leave them there.
Brilliant !

Hey guys! I wonder if anyone can help? I want to import (for personal use) some chocolate into Thailand. You may or may not know the Ritter Sports brand. Well I want the Marzipan ones in plain chocolate. Which for some reason they do not do not stock here. Any ideas?
How much do you really need to import?
I found it alot less hassle to get someone to bring over an extra bag full of choc than import it (customs etc)
Just ask everyone you know to bring over as much as they can.
Mine didn't melt either...ummmmm

You can always borrow the 4wd if you want
Might be a better idea than the motor bike !

She also says the road between Tak and CH (through the mountains) has been badly damaged.

Does anyone know if this road has been damaged ?

I heard Night Plaza has been flooded, any truth in that?

I'm just powering up the printer mate see you in a few weeks.
I recon my wife chose me, once she decided I had little choice
Big age difference, not really that compatible, the only things in comman are we are both stubborn and willful......a very turbulent first few years, but we are happy ...... ...funny old world aint it
Looks like the beers are on me then
.........turn that printer off !

To be extremely honest I had no 'criteria' what so ever, I just remember falling in love with my wife one day while sat down together talking and then soon after I had to leave her for 2 months. That hurt so much I decided never to leave her again.
PS 'Non of this gets back to the wife right' !?!?!?!?!?

Thanks lomatopo that's a great help.
I had a root filling when I was 17 done by some dodgy butcher who called themselves a dentist, hurt like h3ll...........haven't been back since
I need afew fillings replaced and a new one which will need the tooth building up aswell.
Have you or anyone else experienced laser dental treatment ? anybody got feedback?
When I lived in BKK I never found a dental clinic I was completely happy with (does not mean there aren't any good ones, but the ones I checked out all seemed impersonal and pricey or incompetent)
If you have any desire to visit Chiang Mai, then combine that visit with gettting your dental work done. Grace Dental Clinic is one of the finest, most modern dental clinics in the world, warm and friendly a great group of dentists and very reasonably priced IMHO. http://www.gracedentalclinic.com/
There are also some other clinics in CM that some others also swear by, but most seem to prefer Grace. You can see more by doing a search on dentist in the CM forum.
Seeker
Thanks for the link etc, the place looks really good but it doesn't mention anything about laser treatment. Do you know if they do it or anywhere that does?
Thanks again

Hi all
I'm planning a trip with friends to Chiang Mai in October/November.
My wife has been reading the Thai news on the net and says that CM has just had really bad flooding and damage and there are major storms to come. She also says the road between Tak and CH (through the mountains) has been badly damaged.
Does anybody know anything about this ?
What's been affected and how bad ? (if anything)
Would you still recommend I take my trip to CM ?
Thanks in advance for you help.

Ladies and gentlemen, whether it's a good idea or not , I am opening a cafe/bar in Chiang Mai in a few weeks time and need some advice to make the most of my fridge space. I hope to attract both farang and Thai and want to stock 3 brands of beer. I'm listing the most popular ones (to my knowledge) and if you fancy selecting your top 3, I'll do the sums after a reasonable amount of posts and the 3 most popular make it to the fridge.
1. Chang
2. Heineken
3. Leo
4. Singha
5. Tiger
I'll post again nearer to opening night giving the details but needless to say, there will be a promotion on the night and I'm also thinking of a loyalty discount for regular TVers .
Thanks a lot!
Pikey.
I think i'll have to go with....
1. Chang (by a mile)
2. Singha
3. Heineken

Do you know if you use ps2 games on a PC & how
No you can't run them direct from a CD. You can however download alot of the PS2 games. Type 'PS2 Emulaor' in to google

I would like to know courting, marriage customs including the legal age for both men and women.
All my friends had to parade up the road with me to my mother-in-laws house dancing with HUGE di*ks around there waist . Di*ks made from a tree painted brown with a red end !
Beer and whisky at 5am made it seem like a good idea

Bastards , my mate's son goes to the same school as the Thai lad.
There are some <deleted>**ed up people out there....stick him in the Bangkok Hilton to rot!

Ok.. let me see if I have this right..
Thailand is near the bottom of the list for English language comprehension and usage.. and the Govt wants to improve that situation.
Maybe it would help us all - including us English speakers trying to live in LOS - IF
1. The major Thai Government Web Sites were in Thai and English
2. Every notice on the Skytrain and MRT were in Thai and English (it's not bad now, I hasten to add..)
3. Street and road signs were in Thai and English (many are not).
4. Supermarkets and food shops labelled their goods in Thai and English.
The more they integrate a dual language, Thai's would get used to seeing (and understanding) written English next to their language.. and it would actually help us to know where we are, what's going on.
ChrisP
I dont think your suggestion will solve the issue but I do think it can only help. I agree with...'while in Rome do as the Romans do'...but I think your suggestions can only help things. Even if it didn't help a great deal surely it would give some tourists more confidence to travel outside the main tourist areas

A friend of mine ate some in Phuket and had stomach problems. He went to see a doc (not pat pong) in the UK and was told him stomach couldn't digest them. The Doc advised not to eat them as they can cause Typhoid and Cancer. Any truth in that?

If I remember properly ist like 6,000 - 10,000 to rent one for a weekend.
You supply the booze and food, I think you can hire a cook.
You can get alot of people on them. Its a cheap way to entertain, and it looks like a heap of fun....
This sounds great fun.
Mattnich - where can you book it ?
