I have helped teach English (volunteer) for close to 20 years in many many Thai government schools in Udon Thani Province and have NEVER witnessed any sort of physical punishment to a students by a teacher. I would have intervened and contacted the school director immediately if that happened.

Koh Larn is not worth the trip anymore. It used to be a very nice quaint place in the 70's like most other nice touristy places in Thailand. Most have now been totally over run and destroyed by tons of tourists and less than friendly locals.

So very sad. Meth is out of control in Thailand as in most other countries.

I would be willing to bet that most of those in debt are government employees who have big eyes and small wallets. They borrow against their future government pensions, life insurance etc etc just to "show off" their supposed wealth. This is not second hand information as most of my in laws are supposed "teachers" who are deeply in debt. No common sense at all !

Safety is not a part of the majority of Thais. Always the easy way and not the correct way.

I suspect it will work here in Thailand as the different plastics can be sorted by low cost labor and then be recycled into new containers or whatever. The problem in the US and other western countries is the lack of cheap labor to sort the different plastics etc.

If the footwear got jammed then the escalator is incorrectly adjusted. The "combs" are set wrong leaving a gap between the steps and the combs. Just so typical slipshod work. The "combs" or the steps are incorrectly adjusted. It has absolutely nothing to do with stepping off the escalator.
