  1. The walkway was installed in 1996 according to the BP which makes it 7 years old and not 27 years old.
  2. Moving walkways just move people on a flat surface to save walking. I find it hard to believe that DM Apt had this device installed for 30 years.
  3. It looks like a moving walkway to me rather than an escalator which normally moves people up/down from one floor to another. I think there's something amiss in this report.
  4. Irresponsible owners prevail all over this country. These animals need to be "put down" immediately before they hurt anyone else. Why anyone would call them pets is beyond me.
  5. Elephants are a very expensive item. Even the local water buffalo is very expensive. This elephant needs help and I trust Unchained Elephants.
  6. The police here think it's the victim's responsibility to investigate a criminal case and provide evidence. Welcome to the Third World where Thailand will sit forever.
  7. Easy solution: Install a traffic light to control the idiot drivers, and I know this will stun everyone but have the BIB do their job!!!
  8. The rules are not particularly difficult to follow as far as I'm concerned. I've been living in Udon Thani for about 15 years and other than the fiasco when the US embassy stopped providing income letters for immigration everything has been relatively smoothe.
  9. The answer is that police need to do what they're paid to do. Enforce the law and ticket those drivers who refuse to stop for pedestrians. we have the same problem her in Udon Thani where the local government has done absolutely nothing to improve pedestrian safety. All too much trouble until someone is killed or injured. it's always after the fact here in Thailand. Prevention is never thought about. I really believe that thinking is just not part of the game here in Thailand!.
  10. I was bitten by a stray dog in Loei province while cycling. I managed to clean the bite wound with alcohol I always carry with me and sought immediate attention at a Thai army hospital.located about a km from me. They cleaned the wound further and gave me a shot of rabies vaccine and a shot of Tetnus along with Amoxicilin tablets to take for 10 days. I was then directed to the Loei General Hospital to get an additional shot of Immunoglobulin into the bite wound itself. I asked the local people who witnessed the dog bite incident as to to who's dog was it all denied knowing who the dog belong to. Totally irresponsible people.
  11. Welcome to the third World where anything goes for the right price.
  12. It's always the same problem - lack of any sort of thought. Leap without looking. They should have also installed controls at the same time it was legalized.
  13. RTAF already has 1 squadron of Swedish 4th Gen Gripen aircraft which are more advanced than the current F-16s in their inventory and less expensive to buy/maintain. On top of it all what/where is the threat to Thailand. None of surrounding countries pose any sort of threat to Thailand. The RTAF has a terrible record of buying military hardware without sufficient spare parts to maintain the equipment and turns to cannibalization to keep their planes flying. Historically, they bought an aircraft carrier with a squadron of VTOL/STOL Harriers which have all been decommissioned due to a lack of maintenance/spare parts. The carrier itself is totally useless as they have no aircraft to use on it and it's very expensive to maintain. The RTAF has contracted to upgrade their remaining Alpha jets in their inventory. I was under the impression they were planning to purchase another squadron of Gripens which would certainly make sense.
  14. We are guests in this country and I believe we should act that way. None of us can vote here and I think it's very inappropriate to comment one way or the other in the politics of our host country.. JMHO
  15. I suspect it's just not simply laying a track. This is not the 1800's nailing steel track to wooden sleepers. I would think there's a ton of technology involved with building a high speed train line.
