  1. The kid broke into his house. The man was protecting his family. Itnisnlegal in the us to protect ur family if someone breaks into ur home. So funny how u hypocrites complain. What would u all do if a person has broken into ur home and u have a family to protect. U just let him walk in and do as he wishes? Plsssss. Put urself in his shoes before u make make and state stupid opinions.

Not really big on reading are you Billy?

  2. Apparently it was not the actual Static Line - which is attached to each Parachute - that failed, it was the Cable which stretches down the length of the aircraft and to which the individual Static Lines are clipped prior to jumping. This Cable acts as a "Hard Point" to pull the Parachute from the backpack as the Jumper falls away from the 'plane.

I have not read anything about the height at which the trainees jumped but usually it is quite low, that, and the fact that these jumpers were very inexperienced (I believe that at least for some it was their first jump) meant that they did not have the experience or time necessary to realise their Main had not deployed and then go through the procedure to deploy the Reserve.

    Patrick

The jump was from around 1,000m - which gives you less than 10 second to make decision to deploy reserve

Are you sure it was 1000m? That is quite high.

When I did my army para training we jumped at 800-1000 FEET.

  3. TVF is the only forum that I (currently) peruse.

I look forward to the twice daily emails. A quick scan of the offerings lets me see the ones that I might want to read.

I avoid the political ones because they are just full of rabid reds and yanking yellows. You cannot have a decent debate with closed minded people.

Over the years I have gleaned useful information fron TVF, and have also enjoyed a chuckle thanks to the more intelligent/witty members here.

  4. I have enough cash to stay, but as I got older I get more sensible.

I went of the booze, and eventually got tired of bar-girls.

Being single (and intending to stay that way), decided that LOS no longer has much to offer.

I really don't want to get tangled up with a "nice girl".

Is actually cheaper for me to live in Oz. I have a shack in the country, grow my own vegs,

get free medical, etc. I have a modest workshop so can pursue my hobbies and interests.

I find L.O.S. lots of fun, but too bloody noisy, with frightfully dangerous roads. I tend to get bored in LOS after a few months.

But I'll still visit LOS from time to time.

I am the same as Jack.

I gave up my retirement visa and returned to OZ.

I do not "bag" TL though (as other posters have mentioned) as it holds good memories for me.

    I pop back there occasionally.

  5. Enjoyed the post 6pak.

I did the Patt/Songkran walkabout one year, just for the experience, but after that always left the country for a month.

For the person who asked about Cambodia, I found it much milder in PP and could be avoided if you did not want to participate.
